    Well you are definitely in the know, I've watched several of your videos along with some other you tubers and you are by far the most experienced and knowledgeable for what I've seen!! What did you mean these are 5 1/2-6% dye stock?These are beautiful, I have just recently began spinning and dyeing is next on my agenda... I'm surprised Pro Chem hasn't grabbed you up!! Thanks so much for sharing so much of your knowledge with us. You are a great teacher! I'll have to look on IG for you 😘😍

      5% degree of strength per weight of goods. If the braid is 100 grams, that's 5 grams of dye. A very vivid shade

    I tried this process but with parchment paper instead of the plastic wrap and it failed pretty spectacularly. For fibre science!! Thanks for the informative videos!

    Sorry if this is a super inexperienced question, but are you adding a tablespoon of the dry dye to the 2.5 cups of water, or are you adding 1 tablespoon of a dye stock that you had previously mixed up? If it is dye stock, can you tell me the concentration of the dye stock? Thanks for your help and your great videos!

      My current dye stock recipe is 10 grams of dye per 1000 ml but at the time it was tablespoons to cups

    Hello! Just found you and am so thankful to have done so! Wondering what brand of dye you're using to make such vivid colors?

    When you are steaming is the water below boiling or just simmering? I have found the area of my fiber closest to the heat a little felted. May be I need better separation from the water below.

      Boiling. But I steam the fiber on the top shelf, probably 12 inches from the water in a large 3 tiered steamer. Some contraction of the fiber is to be expected, as the fiber is being subjected to high heat and acid. But mine never feels "sticky" or like velcro when I spin.

      Nicole Frost ok. I need a bigger gap from the water. The top level of water is only an inch below the colander which holds my fiber, so I try not to have a crazy boil

    Your videos are so informative. Question.. is there some way you can film in landscape mode so we can enlarge the view? It’s a very skinny film.

      No. I’ve tried that and with my very first video all the focal point is out of shot. For $2500 I can have it professionally shot and edited, but then you’d have to pay to watch the video. The editing suite on my phone is portrait only. We’re on a shoestring budget, these videos are wildly time consuming and expensive to produce for free

    How the heck you could do all that and video it is amazing to me. If I tried that y’all would be seeing shaky shots of the ceiling, walls or my feet at least 1/2 the time.

    Where do you get the syringes?

    • @NicoleFrostYarn
      @NicoleFrostYarn  5 років тому

      Literally any of the hundreds of vendors online that sell them? I can't link to Amazon because it'll be a dead link within weeks as sellers sell out or discontinue carrying them.
      I gave explicit details of what I was using with the hope you guys would Google "60 millimeter luer lock syringe" and find them yourselves.

      @@NicoleFrostYarn my problem was the spelling of luer. I was hearing lure
