@James Rowden , agreed. Their is probably a degree of media training but you have to admit, the Allen/Beckett accent spectrum is pretty wide for two guys from the same school.
It’s not just the content in his observations, it’s the intensity with which they are punctuated and the dramatic pauses before the punchline. “I’ve been living with a couple. Their names are… dad and… mum.”
@Me Obvs He's proper bitchy in that it's playful & obviously so. But not playful as in play with your food cat to mouse, it's playful as in 'join me as an equal or even if you're the butt of my jokes I'm still looking towards/focussed on making you laugh & be merry too'.
Tom Allen is a consummate performer. His delivery and timing are spot on. i always sit with an expectant smile on my face when I see him appearing on any show, or doing his stand up work. Such a fun-gi. The erotic literature bit had me in stitches!!
I utterly adore Tom. Everything that comes out of his mouth has me in stitches. In another life, if I was born and raised in London and had a way with words, he’d be my spirit animal. XD
The UK has so many smart, hilarious comics, and they get so much more airtime than in America. Thanks for posting great clips here on UA-cam like these of the amazing Mr. Allen.
It's been a while since I have cried laughing. I saw Tom Allen at the Edinburgh Fringe some years ago. That was a witty, constructed stand-up set. But trust me, he is funnier now. Oh me, if I had the money, I'd buy him that rugby team.
There's gay comedians who just go talk about their genitals, but Tom Allen and Alan Carr are the best comedians when it comes to making fun of their own sexuality. Allen's like a gay version of Sean Locke.
purplerains, while I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you either, Susan Calman, Sandi Toksvig (although both of them typically only mention genitals either when talking about feminism or when relating anecdotes), sue Perkins, Matt Lucas, Joe Lycett, Graham Norton, Zoe Lyons and Gina Yashere among other LGBTQ comedians frequently refer to their genitals, or genitalia in general in their material
I love Tom so much. I hate that he doesn't have any DVDs out. This needs rectifying. Even if they do one of all his best bits for now and then he does some stand up! I'd love to see him live just him xxxxx
An unusually well formulated sentence for someone from Doncaster... I suppose that’s the great thing about being inbred you never know what you’ll get from the mutations!
When this is all over we need a show featuring Linda and a sister who's always been green with Envy and the rest of the family make sure they don't string you along 😉I can't believe I'm actually making comments about a bloody balloon 😂😂😂😂😂😂 you've made my week again also on a personal level I love your suits 😍😁
I don't live in UK. Don't really know the culture. I don't know anything about Lidl. When Henning said, "There's nothing wrong with Lidl". The expression Tom gave as a respond was brilliant!!! Plus, the "I didn't know about what homophobia was until I met you". That was a great way to flatter yourself.
At 2:45, I couldn't make out where Jimmy's vegetables came from when he answered Tom's question about where he got his vegetables from. So I thought I'd re-run that bit with the captions on. It said he got his vegetables from a bear in the kitchen. I don't think you're spending enough time on writing the captions, Channel 4.
The other thing with tomcis he's only a couple of years older than me so a lot of his stories and observations from when he was a kid remind me of my childhood too xxxxx

"I love company but I can't stand other people" is the most relatable thing I've ever heard.
My immediate reaction to that line was: "Well obviously. You're a theater kid."
I love the fact that he and Rob Becket went to the same school. Always gives them a unique interaction that makes me laugh
The "we weren't even in the same class" response to robs "we weren't in the same classes" went under the radar a bit.
does anyone know the episode and season for that?
@James Rowden , agreed. Their is probably a degree of media training but you have to admit, the Allen/Beckett accent spectrum is pretty wide for two guys from the same school.
My Nan taught them when they were at school together !!
Louis Sanderson He’s not he puts it on.
“I didn’t know what homophobia was until I met you” 😭😭😭
Such a brilliant joke, obviously only works with a gay comedian. But it’s Tom’s deadpan delivery that makes it so funny!
It’s not just the content in his observations, it’s the intensity with which they are punctuated and the dramatic pauses before the punchline. “I’ve been living with a couple. Their names are… dad and… mum.”
@You are correct But the first
'How did you make that so flirty?'
'... its the spring'
My favorite line of the episode.
And then the way he resentfully pushes the photo over. 🤣
3:20 "Still broken." Sad and excellent, and the audience agreed.
Yeah, actually thought he was moving on to his next bit so it was even a surprise.
“I mean, she liked the man, but not enough to hold down the shift key.” 🤣🤣🤣
If you close your eyes, his voice is like a camp version of David Mitchell’s. Love them both
Holy shit you're right lol
Holy shit
Wow. It really does
serendipidus1 it’s way campier, but I hear it
serendipidus1 yeah I love them both
His delivery is SPOT ON!
This guy is a breath of fresh air to British comedy. So quick witted, with just the right touch of bitchy.
nah its the gay bit ,its in our body, hes fully charged ,he is an actual legend in the making a defo icon i think!

When Tom replaced the rude words with the ECML Stations I just couldn't stop laughing. A very funny way of reaeding out a passage.

Tom's delivery on the x-boyfriend joke is just immaculate. Really good delivery has me in tatters everytime
"For some people, holding a hand on a hot stove is a great way to remind themselves that they're still alive" - Tom Allen
"the sight of someone pregnant is disgusting and must be hidden" - also Tom Allen
he never elaborated further on that sentence and it will forever bother me

50 Shades of Train would be a publishing phenomenon.
He has a great voice; it reminds me of narrators on older documentaries.
"How lonely?" Asks Alan Carr then hands him a cucumber. Classic

"NOOOO DON'T PATRONIZE ME!"
"You're watching Paw Patrol and getting jam on things. It's not good enough!"
His timing is so good he can make anything funny.
Everytime tom says something about him being lonely or his heart being broken I just want to jump through the screen and hug him
The bit about Tom's tophat and tails is always hilarious. He weirded out the bullies, lol.
This collection made me Darlington again and again.
His timing is perfect, whenever he’s on any panel show i just know it’s going to be great
My respect for Tom has become immeasurable, simply due to the fact that he still calls emojis "emoticons".

you have funny ones on that friends show. maybe?
We take comedy seriously here 😉 sarcasm and intelligently crafted gags, deadpan delivery and dark humour makes British comedy special.
I really like Tom - wish he could do more (especially stand up). His Radio 4 show a couple of years ago was excellent.
She liked him, but enough to hold down the shift key 😂😂😂😂
Honestly an absolute legend!
Gotta love the way he takes the piss out of gay stereotypes just cuz he knows he can get away with it🤣🤣
As a gay man who has a few basic and cookie cutter gay friends who are in relationships. I can 100% confirm how accurate those arguments were!
Cookie cutter are you a misfit.

His material isn’t the best but its the way he presents it that makes it hilarious 😆
His presentation is better in this sort of studio setting than the manic and loud style of his stage performances.
“Like so many people here, I love it in the arts.”
Tom Allen 2k16
Expert delivery , so refreshing ❤️ love how he’s so observational but his cadence makes it like a series of one liners!
Lord, I don't know why but he cracks me up.

There's gay comedians who just go talk about their genitals, but Tom Allen and Alan Carr are the best comedians when it comes to making fun of their own sexuality.
