- In this short video I compare the Meater+ wireless probe with the new TempSpike from ThermoPro to see which wireless thermometer probe has the best range around the house and out in the open.
DISCLAIMER: ThermoPro reached out to me and helped make this video of the Meater+ and TempSpike possible. However all the content of this review and findings are my own. Folks should also know that ThermoPro had to replace the initial unit I purchased due to issues with temperature and range. The replacement unit has worked surprisingly well and is featured in this video.

You forgot to mention that with the meater+ you can connect to the cloud and monitor your cook on your smartphone if you had to make a quick run to your nearest supermarket
You know I’ve never used that feature since it requires a second smart device dedicated to this purpose, but you’re right. The Meater+ does have the ability to do so without purchasing their Block.

Is the TempSpike still working well?
I still use it occasionally. I've been fortunate enough to receive different products from vendors to try, so now I'm currently using the newest Inkbird cooking alarm. But as a standalone thermometer pen, the TempSpike and MeaterPlus are still my go to.
when u doing a brisket smoke on ur new pit?
I have been slacking big time on the cooking videos. I plan on working on one soon.

Obviously you never used one... I had a meatsr in my CERAMIC kamado joe monitoring a prime rib while I sat inside watching the superbowl with no issues
Agreed. I have a MEATER + that sits in my Maverick 1250 and the little base will boost the signal to pretty much anywhere in our single floor 1400 square foot house with a very occasional loss of signal, mostly in areas I never venture to. The smoker is a couple feet from the corner of the house. If I know I’m going to be further away I have an old iPhone I plug in (battery is shot) near the corner of the house where the smoker is, set up the MEATER to that and I use my phone anywhere I want to monitor via the cloud upload that happens automatically.
9 months late but the other replies are spot on. Yes the closed lid affects some weaker probes... but most of them perform quite well if you keep the base near the probe.
The meater is beyond useless with the thick probe that will completely ruin many meat cuts...
The unsightly probe mark is a definite turn off... especially in thick cuts of steaks. But in some use cases they are really convenient.
@@HuSmokin yes. I ended up buying cabled probes, thinner ones. My machine can have up to 4 of them and it connects to WiFi too. Paid $60 on sale and was the most amazing purchase ever.
