I know im not rated as butch by old school butch lesbians, but younger ones see me masculine. A woman by just not wearing make up will be classed as another gender soon, the only ones left as male or female will be the extreme stereotypes.
+TimeTraveler Well said, you can be not gender-conforming, without identifying with or becoming, embodying one of the two social constructs of genders. Sex and gender are not the same, the latter is a social construct not determined by the first, which if gets dismantled, then any male or female can have any traits associated with them - and this structurally is more subversive and socially more beneficial than the way trans-activism tries to basically keep the genders (femininity, masculinity) and eliminate the sex (female, male) of people. The latter instead of getting rid of traditional, essentialist and oppressive constructs of genders, it reinforces them, and takes away the political-social dimension (their inherent hierarchy, the negativity of most of the traits assigned to femininity, etc.) of the lists of traits associated with the sexes and by doing so stands in the way of a real *social solution* to the problem: that many people feel that they must conform to a gender category to legitimately have access to what are basically people-traits.

I was born a baby? You are born with an x or y chromosome so biologically you're male or female. What you are is sexually at odds with your gender and with science, either biology or psychiatry. Because your a male who feels female doesn,t make you female and visa versa. The idea that transgenderism is a settled argument among the community is wrong, just look at the R.T. documentary where those who underwent surgery regret it. The bulk of psychiatric opinion is at odds with transgender activists. The suicide rate between pre and post operations is pretty similar. We live in a world were because someone feels something it must be true , even if it goes against nearly all scientific studies. This is no different than the " i,m not a climatologist, but i don,t believe in climate change". You reject the possibility that it could be a mental illness even though many psychologists say that going through the surgery is dismorphia, something that appears to be backed up with the suicide rate. Your asking people to recognise your condition but fail to put the scientific case across. Your own community is divided on the issue and your none transgender supporters do you no favours in closing down debate
+Helga Hufflepuff My friend, I made certain to use the term 'Delusional' on these two interviewees. The world isn't going to end any time soon, nevertheless, we can only hope such nauseating people will be ignored by the media.
I worked in a psychiatric in-patient unit in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, for 2 years. We had many patients who were living with severe agitated depressive episodes halfway through their gender reassignment -- even though they had spent years in therapy to 'prepare everyone' to accept their transition. These transgender patients were being treated for "unresolved grief, repressed traumatic memories and transference of schitzo-effective symptoms resulting from body dysmorphic disorder". They weren't actually being treated for 'gender-affirming, transgender transitioning, post-diagnosis...". Psychiatrists were treating symptoms of psychosis, not treating the state of being transgender -- because as they put it -- "an unhappy schitzophrenic is a regular paying customer...a happy transgender patient is no longer a regular source of income for the hospital". I was shocked when I first started working at the RBWH that the reason the Australian Medicare system undertakes the procedures of transgender transitioning simply as a,"suicide prevention strategy" - as opposed to a clinically productive nursing intervention. I was chatting to the Chief Psychiatrist one day, Dr. Justin O'Brien, at the Royal Brisbane & Womens' Hospital, Herston, Queensland, and asked him: "Do all the years of therapy and multiple mutilation surgeries actually help the transgender patient mentally in the long-term?" to which he replied, "Not usually, no. Surgery just transfers their unresolved childhood trauma into a physically tangible badge of honour that staves off hysterical bouts of agitated depression..."
"CN Lester is more than welcome to join me and all the other guys in the shower at our local rugby club!" I am able to make that silly comment about this because, as a man, this issue has virtually no direct effect on me whatsoever. The whole issue is really tough directly on women though and ultimately many of those women are the mothers, daughters, partners and siblings of men and I'm sure most of those men care deeply about their mothers and daughters and about their female partners and siblings.
I can help you with those forms you find so difficult, CN- You're female. Every day, for all your life, you remain one of the biological class female. You're welcome.
#2:01 "are any of us biologists sitting round this table" answer no, then stop trying to portray yourself as being one then by saying you study this or study that, just because you study something doesn't mean you know it all. Male, female and coocoo people. Honestly I don't like how I'm lumped into a category with the trans people, I'm bisexual and I honestly think it should be LGB+ for sexuality and then have a separate catagory for gender for example TIN+ ( trans intersex non binary+) cuz I'm linked in with this stupidity and lack of biology for the time being.
@live fornight yeah I've heard of them and also the LGB Alliance. Both want to split LGBTQIA++++ into just LGB (sexuality) and then trans and non Binary etc (gender) can be their own thing because they are completely separate issues.
Sorry but there can be no 'distinction' between being 'born a baby' and 'born a woman'. The two are not mutually exclusive. Like saying 'my hand doesn't have five fingers because it's at the end of my arm'. So save the smirk.
I wish people would STOP comparing the race issue or civil rights movement to trans issues of identity. They are not the same, it's disrespectful and trivializes what black people in particular have had to endure when it comes to equality.
Helga Hufflepuff it's a joke. Of course things like the wage gap are important, and of course transgender issues do matter, but look at the state we're in, not just in the UK, but all across western civilisation. There are far bigger issues to worry about right now than a gender neutral bathroom. I'm sorry, there just are.
+Joe Clift Yeah because when you switch on the news nowadays it's just transgender this, transgender that. There's absolutely nothing about those far bigger issues.
T Jones lol well I wouldn't go that far. Every issue deserves a degree or representation, but let's be honest: this is a discussion that is broadly taking place within the left wing, and it's subsequently causing in-fighting. In the US and the UK we're at a point where we need to band together on big issues like global warming, like nuclear disarmament, like getting hard core right wing governments that are ruining the lives of the lower and middle classes out of power, or keeping them out of power in the case of the US. It's not that this doesn't matter, but right now I'm more worried about the 40 percent of America that back Donald Trump, or Cameron and Co's continuing reign of social and economic catastrophes, and that isn't because transgender issues don't effect me at a personal level, it's because the big issues effect EVERYONE. We need to address them first.
+Joe Clift It's such a shame that transgender issues are such an inconvenience to the cisgender majority, who have been conflating sex and gender identity all their lives because they happen to be congruent in their fortunately privileged cases (cis and trans are opposites in Latin - the distinction is inoffensive). Whereas male privilege is blindingly obvious and feminism is the equally obvious response to endeavour to redress the imbalance, this conflation of sex and gender identity means cisgender privilege is largely intangible to cisgender people, even when explained, which is a big part of the problem. If you have privilege, like sailing downwind, you don't feel it. If you don't have it, like tacking when sailing upwind, you feel the full force of it in your face all the time. So please think of it in terms of the inconveniece of hearing about it whilst sailing downwind. Meanwhile, in the upwind direction, 42% of trans people attempt suicide at some point in their lives. That speaks to the magnitude of the inequality. The parliamentary enquiry has now documented the resulting discrimination including institutionalised discrimination in the NHS and even in equality law. I'm not sure that global warming is such a great threat to life yet. I suspect if 42% of women attempted suicide at some point in their lives there would have been drastic action long ago. The bottom line as I see it is that we should be getting good at resolving inequality by now after women's equality, racial equality, gay equality etc. and should get a move on and get this sorted as a quick win. Unfortunately, parliament doesn't have a good track record of translating reports into legislation and legislation doesn't have a good track record of modifying public behaviour or attitudes, but even 10% would be a great start. Trust me, as a transgender woman, "transgender issues are driving me nuts" a lot more than they are driving Jeremy Clarkson nuts and nothing would please me more than for the issues to be resolved and out of the news. It would be great to be treated as a regular segment of society in the same way as cricket fans are, for example. Meanwhile, after waiting a year for the first NHS appointment, follow-on appointments are now 7 months apart. I think most cisgender people would be pretty irate if they had to wait 7 months for an appointment for a vet to see their goldfish, yet this is now the norm for transgender people to be seen themselves. No wonder the clinicians are as angry as the patients and I suspect, unfortunately, that transgender issues will still be an inconvenience in the media for some time.
This is at least the 10th time that I heard this story from an nb. If someone has working eyes and ears, they can differentiate males from females, more than 99% of the time. This person isn't even androgynous. So, no dear. Not one person thought you were a man, not even for one second. I later noticed how old this video was. This person could be the starter of these stories 😂
Six years on I love how the one lady is asserting that people can't tell she's a lady.

Look, sex is biological and comes only in two flavours, male and female, XY and XX, sperm and eggs, penis and vagina; and the vast majority of men display masculinity and women, femininity - their genders. A small minority of males prefer males as sexual partners, and the same for women, and we don't really know the how and why homosexuality occurs given the normal and logical biological drive and need in man to procreate in a sexual fashion. But homosexuality is a regular feature of the human condition and no-one should look negatively at a homosexual by dint alone of their sexual proclivity. The vast majority of homosexuals say that they were born that way, and whilst we do not understand the biology and/or socialisation which causes anyone being homosexual, there is no reason to question their intrinsic nature. Typically homosexuals do not believe that they are the opposite sex to there biological sex. There are a very small percentage, around .05% or 1 in 2000 who are born intersex meaning, inter alia, they have the genitalia to some or other degree of both sexes and usually identify as one or the other sex. But intersex is not a sex, but an usual mix of the two sexes. Transgender, however, is not related to sex at birth, but is the idea that a person does not 'feel' that they are the sex they are born as. Transgender is a mental condition, often, sadly, associated with depression and mental health issues. In the past, the great majority of children who expressed any idea of not feeling their birth sex become happy with their birth sex post-puberty. In the main, sensitive boys turn in to men and tomboys turn in to women. In the era of identity politics, Transgender has become an issue writ large and mistakes are being made that in years to come, people will look back and categorise as naked child abuse. The law should enforce an edict that no drug or surgical interference should be allowed on anyone until they have reached 18, at least. No-one should descriminate against anyone undeservedly, including Transgender claimants - all should be treated with love and kindness. The soul carries no sex.
Carlos Melo The irony here is that the "T" (which denies biology of sex) is erasing the "LGB" (which fundamentally acknowledges biological sex, and is about sexual orientation). A big part of me is suspicious they can’t be being serious and this is all some big ironic joke, this is as ridiculous as a Monty python sketch, more so even. At least Monty python were joking. Tolerating people who want to identify themselves as something different from their natural sex and gender and letting them get on with their lives and everyone else with theirs is one thing, imposing their views on everyone else and demanding society changes its definition of what it is to be human relating to sex and gender is just taking the biscuit.
According to the disillusioned woman at 1:57 the idea of female/male is faaaaar more complicated. Looks like grasping the concept of two combination as supported in nature, namely xx or xy, is far beyond her intellectual faculty. Then why devoting so much time in broadcasting the idea of a person with such mental limitation?
"One of my academic specialities one of my academic specialities" great. Intellectual pursuits don't always have to do with what works in the real world.
Interesting to look back on this in 2021. The claim is that there is such a nuanced (logically contorted?) debate on a man/woman question. The suggestion that it is all about a spectrum and identities are multiple and should be self-proclaimed. But when we use that on, say, racism, nuance is quickly shut down if one strays off a narrow path. Furthermore, it fragments approaches to striving for more equal and equitable societies. * I am from a minority community and have professional expertise in this area - but not ideologically bound by a single 'theory'.
Wtf, they literally said right at the beginning that they don't identify as male or female, so I don't know where you got the idea that they're "trying to be a man", whatever tf that means.
There are so many ways this can be discussed and so many aspects to shine a light on. What I don’t see is a willingness or humbleness from the one representing the trans slice. Sarah’s points are very sound and relevant, and all the other do us brush them aside. This isn’t how you achieve change. Were I trans, Id be angry at this person’s posture.
Fair play to her. I like to think of this very crudely. Gender is related to the word Genetalia (clue is in the GEN). Just as Sex relates to your sexual organs.... Express what you like, nobody minds - but theres no need to be confused. Just look down. I'll always be polite about what people ask me to address them as but this weird ideology and concept of the meaning of gender Vs sex is a bit daft, inaccurate and is causing divisions in society. Is sexuality and the sexual spectrum being confused a bit with gender? Maybe - Who knows! I guess this Is what happens when we teach Gender Studies in universities and there are no real employment opportunities, other than to campaign about gender.
Im a gay woman. I appear feminine not girly girl but feminine. I was a massive tomboy as a kid. They definitely would have given me puberty blockers. As an adult i have more masculine then feminine energy. My energy sways all day and has been difficukt to integrate. Am i trans non binary. This stuff is completely out of control and its dqngerous

Something different to what they are trying to make us believe. Next it will be that they can have children without men. The end of the world is nothing to do with climate change. Men will be all in the pub with the doors locked.

It's funny how people like this want to ignore "Science" "Biology" and "Nature" when it comes to transgenders. But are all about "Science" "Biology" and "Nature" when it comes to everything else like "global warming" ...or God.
If we let these people continue, guys won't know whether they are going on first dates with a woman or not, and they won't tell you the truth. That , to me is beyond human decency and would also lead to some highly distasteful physical scenarios.
It’s already happening. Many of them don’t disclose that they are actually male because they don’t want the rejection of straight men and it’s also a feather in their cap if they feel they can ‘pass’ as a woman and fool a straight guy. I call it rape
Two things: 1. Yes, there are bigger issues that need dealing with, so why then, do people make such a big deal about whether or not someone wants to identify in a certain way, use a particular bathroom, marry someone of the same sex? Why does so much money and so much time get spent on doing everything possible to prevent people from just being who they are and being treated equal to everyone else? 2. Rather than having separate bathrooms to protect women from men, why not start teaching men not to rape women? Why not start teaching children from a young age what consent means?
funny thing: sarah talks of aggressive males and she's married to a very aggressive male. have you seen him on playstation access? he loses his shit when playing a video game. there was one episode where his hand was all cut up as if he was punching a wall, which is within his character. she's just a hypocritical trash monster.
hahaha, that would be hilarious! Everyone would be fighting to have her as their cellmate, then when the lights go out, the winner of the debate, probably the most aggressive and sexual frustrated man, would tell her he likes her scarf and thinks he might be gay then politely ask for her consent for intimate experimentation. I don't think she would be laughing then at blurring the lines of social constructs... I think she would be screaming in a distinctly female fashion. Sorry, these social molesters bring me to a dark place.
@@FlamingBeret You literally wrote out a scenario in which this real-life human being gets raped in prison, and then justified it by saying this human being you don't know is a "social molester" (wtf?) who "brings you to a dark place". What the fuck is wrong with you. This person has done nothing to you other than daring to talk about their identity and rights on television and ending up in a UA-cam clip you happened to see. She finds it amusing...I do not. The erosion of women's rights and privacy is no laughing matter
If I wanted to watch this level of passive aggression, I'd go out for a family dinner.
Martin McHendry Comment of the day 😄
Lol
Delusional. Thank you Newsnight for killing some of my braincells.
+Maca Paca What the actual Fuck??? Is this shit really happening? The world is coming to an end. Nothing to do here no more
+Helga Hufflepuff My friend, I made certain to use the term 'Delusional' on these two interviewees. The world isn't going to end any time soon, nevertheless, we can only hope such nauseating people will be ignored by the media.
A woman with short hair and glasses.
I laughed at her claim that sometimes she’s ‘seen as a man’. Really ver obviously a female (neurotic maybe but definitely female)!
Wow!
You should blog.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I’m also from Brisbane btw.
Don't count on it trans people only want to have rules they set
I can help you with those forms you find so difficult, CN- You're female. Every day, for all your life, you remain one of the biological class female. You're welcome.
No.
+AugustusPugin What the actual Fuck??? Is this shit really happening? The world is coming to an end. Nothing to do here no more
Helga Hufflepuff
Libs are just bored at having gotten everything they want already so now they're just inventing bullshit hardships to overcome.
I guess this is why Stonewall adopted the ‘no debate’ stance after.
Lester: "The idea of sex originated in the 19th century". And her idea of sex originated with postmodernism in the 1970's. 😂 What a clown.
1:25 “I’m going to jump in again”
4:30 “if u let me finish”
Typical trans. Wants to speak over everyone yet doesnt want anyone else speak
And they are masters in gaslighting.
They need to do a speaking tour in Afghanistan.
Can you let me finish.. 🙄
😆
I laughed at your emoji too Claire . Your right though . It's so awkward though when she does that haha 😛
That's right, pull up the ladder behind you
You were born a woman, no I was born a baby. WTF!
don't you love it when sociology students get their hype on? Christ XD
+Joe Clift What the actual Fuck??? Is this shit really happening? The world is coming to an end. Nothing to do here no more.
Funny how the transperson, upon losing a key point, simply repeats the mantra--from 5:46 on
FFS.!..What can you say when faced with an ocean of bullshit like this?
It is NOT a civil rights frontier.
Animals right is the real and ultimate challenge we need to address not gender !
To quote the great Magdalen Berns, "This fckn vocal minority of narcissists..."
Wtf is up with that voice?
"Transwomen are not men"... Well, yes, they are. And Right there the whole discussion should end.
Carlos Melo
The irony here is that the "T" (which denies biology of sex) is erasing the "LGB" (which fundamentally acknowledges biological sex, and is about sexual orientation). According to transgenderism, you are not homosexual, you are a girl. You are not lesbian, you are a boy. You are not bisexual you are gender fluid.
Transgenderism seeks to deny biological facts in favour of a person feelings about wanting to be gender contrary to their biological sex. However, biology does not care about a persons feelings.
Claiming to identify as something does not in reality biologically make is so. In the same way a dangerously under weight anorexic looks in the mirror and sees them self as over weight. We don't encourage the anorexic to keep losing weight putting their life in danger to normalise their perception of them self so they can feel validated. We offer them therapy to deal with their body image disorder.
Trans people deserve empathy and compassion and a REASONABLE degree of accommodation by society. However, society should be mindful of some of transgenderism's more harmful ideologically driven demands for tyrannical laws which are more about denying science and biology in order to push for leftist social engineering.
A trans woman is not an ACTUAL woman. A trans man is not an ACTUAL man. No amount of transgender activism for tyrannical legislation will force the majority of society to reject biology and truly accept this ideologically driven agenda, though people may feel forced to comply with imposed laws against to called misgendering.
Chromosomes XX and XY cannot be altered. No amount of plastic surgery and heavy dosages of hormones can change this.
Intersex people which is Biological hermaphroditism XXY are a totally separate extremely rare scientific category. These are people who are born with both sex organs, with usually one fully developed and one under developed. In some even more rare cases both under developed.
Doctors usually advise the baby's parents to go with the gender of the developed sex organ of the baby.
Must get a sore throat putting that fake voice on all day.
Can you be sexist against someone who identifies as non-binary? And if so, how do they prove who you were being sexist against?
CN Lester has such a stuck-up tone of voice.
"One of my academic specialities one of my academic specialities" great. Intellectual pursuits don't always have to do with what works in the real world.
This is first grade common sense...born a man always a man...born a women always a women no in between change
CN Lester starts speaking, and my brain automatically tells me that is the voice of a woman, and i can only perceive them as a woman
CN Lester is a woman
After watching this I feel nearly as dumb as the people talking.
+Jeff Carnes What the actual Fuck??? Is this shit really happening? The world is coming to an end. Nothing to do here no more
Interesting to look back on this in 2021.
I was born a baby....lol 😂...aliens are definitely here🤦😂
go sarah! a low voice and short hair don't make you a man. would cn want to go to a male prison? I think not
Wtf, they literally said right at the beginning that they don't identify as male or female, so I don't know where you got the idea that they're "trying to be a man", whatever tf that means.
Emily looks like she’s going to burst out laughing and I don’t blame her!!
The answer to that question is “No!”
What a bloody mess
Just hope CN is so open minded if a shop worker or ticket seller calls her miss or ma’am and doesn’t have a meltdown like the trans person in U S A.
Total Bollocks
There are so many ways this can be discussed and so many aspects to shine a light on. What I don’t see is a willingness or humbleness from the one representing the trans slice. Sarah’s points are very sound and relevant, and all the other do us brush them aside. This isn’t how you achieve change. Were I trans, Id be angry at this person’s posture.
Not really. Only because civil rights regarded proving yourself just as much as an equal based on how you were born. Not how you feel you look like.
These people are delusional
See these guests....lolololol no scientists,no philosophers and no decent intellectual.
Hell fucking no
Offensive asf don’t ever put the civil rights movement in the same sentence with this shit 🤬
The trans cult is a male-supremacy movement in a dress and a bad wig. RESIST, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

No no no! Wrong!
Why is this soooo annoying?😒
People think too much.
Two women arguing.
Uh, no. Lol.
What is biology?
Something different to what they are trying to make us believe. Next it will be that they can have children without men. The end of the world is nothing to do with climate change. Men will be all in the pub with the doors locked.

She’s not the sharpest tool unfortunately
Trans is trendy right now
Yup. No doubt about it.
If I can interrupt you you there with a passive aggressive smile and put you down because I'm studying some airy fairy shite and I love the sound of my own voice it I can't even work out if im a bird or a bloke. But I like shouting females down.
It's funny how people like this want to ignore "Science" "Biology" and "Nature" when it comes to transgenders.
But are all about "Science" "Biology" and "Nature" when it comes to everything else like "global warming" ...or God.
@Proud Leftist Ok so what is it ?
No. It isn't.
Can a transgender person have a baby
God is not the author of confusion.
........ is this just a game of who's the bigger victim
Good lord, Sarah Ditum misses the point time and time again. Like Kellyanne Conway, she's brings the kumquats to the conversation.
Gene Bertram She’s also hugely insufferable.
Transmutalist
Cn Lester what sort pf name os thst he looks like a geeky boy
If we let these people continue, guys won't know whether they are going on first dates with a woman or not, and they won't tell you the truth. That , to me is beyond human decency and would also lead to some highly distasteful physical scenarios.
I can tell the sex of a person near immediately with men, no matter what they have on ... Maybe you need a visit to Specsavers?
It’s already happening. Many of them don’t disclose that they are actually male because they don’t want the rejection of straight men and it’s also a feather in their cap if they feel they can ‘pass’ as a woman and fool a straight guy. I call it rape
I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body 🤪....
This is *hilarious*
😒...
why one of her ears stick out more than the other?...
"& trans women are not men" she killed her with that statement, was brilliant.
oh sorry they* haha. fuck.
Catya D : Actually, transwomen are not women! The name" transwomen" speaks for itself."Men who identify as women"!
yeah the name "transwomen" includes the name "women", you're right it speaks for itself. genius haha.
Catya D : Like how "women" includes the name "men"? Genius or disingenuous?
yeah but trans and women are two words, wo and men are not. Women, men, transwomen, transmen.
Christmas Pug you should have said 2 less things.
funny thing: sarah talks of aggressive males and she's married to a very aggressive male. have you seen him on playstation access? he loses his shit when playing a video game. there was one episode where his hand was all cut up as if he was punching a wall, which is within his character. she's just a hypocritical trash monster.
The Regressive Left eating each other. *Popcorn num num num.
"And trans women are not men, and you can't forget that." Great last remark ❤️
go sarah! a low voice and short hair don't make you a man. would cn want to go to a male prison? I think not
hahaha, that would be hilarious!
Um, cn didn't say they were a man, they clearly said they consider themselves neither male nor female, they said it right at the beginning.
They're a human being and you don't know them. That "dark place" was already inside you, CN Lester didn't bring you there, and it's horrifying. But hey, you've got company, people throughout history have had dark places like that inside them when confronted with all types of minority groups and all types of human rights. You're part of a long, long story of hatred. Congratulations.
