    I wish I could speak like you or I were you, but most of the time I mimic you while I teach my primary level students. Though our native language is Pashto and the course medium is Urdu, but I love to teach in English, because my students want to learn a little bit about English.

    I came up with a rule which covers 90% cases to use gerund or infinitive. If second verb in a bunch has chance to *start* (it is important, exactly start) - use infinitive. For example. I want to eat, I decided to eat. If no- your choise is the gerund. I pause eating, I like eating, I prefer eating, I resume eating. Even example with verb stop is covered by this rule. I stop eating. When I was eating my meat I stopped to drink beer.

    Hello teacher Mike! I am a new to your channel so I want to know that my way is right or wrong. I hear some words clearly but I can't understand some places .Is it normal? So what should I do for that?

    • @TeacherMikeEnglish
      @TeacherMikeEnglish  Рік тому +1

      That's 100% normal. If that happens, watch the video a second time with the captions turned on, or just ask me what the word was. Or, you can just not worry about it. Again, it's completely normal to not understand everything. If you understand the main message, that's the only thing that matters.

    Thank you Sir,
    Your teaching style is excellent and easy to understand even for a beginner English learner. As I see you notice every comments as far as possible therefore I want to clear my confusion about English grammar. Although it is off - topic, yet I want to ask.
    I am working in a company where it is routine practice to make a point wise shift report of all the activities we do in a whole shift. Most of my colleagues write the report as follows and I think it is gramatically incorrect, and please provide me more alternative ways to write a point wise report as I wrote below.
    For example -
    Following activities have been completed in night shift.
    1. "Admin Building round taken" or "Took round the Admin Building". Which one is correct. Here, "Took round" I mean to go to the building to check whether everything is ok or not.
    2. "Filters cleaned as per schedule." or "Cleaned the filters as per schedule".
    In both these sentences, I don't want to mention doer (Subject), and should I write these type sentences in past simple or in present perfect tense? I would be grateful to you for your guidance.

    • @TeacherMikeEnglish
      @TeacherMikeEnglish  Рік тому +2

      Hi.
      1. Use DONE instead of TAKEN.
      Admin building round done.✅
      Did admin building round.✅
      TAKE doesn't make sense.
      2. Both are correct, but one is active and one is passive.

      Is it not necessary to use helping verb (like was & were) in the above passive sentence?
      For example :
      1. Admin Building round was done.
      2. Filters were cleaned as per schedule.

    Sir... Could you plz check this sentence 👇
    "Running on the beach, the waves crashed against the shore, creating a soothing rhythm that matched the cadence of his footsteps."
    This sentence👆 was given in an error detection question.. & the answer is given as we should use a word as noun in first part of the setnce as the sentence start with
    "H̲e̲ running on the beach..........."
    But i dont think as we should use a noun on the first part... It didnt make sense from my view🤔

    • @TeacherMikeEnglish
      @TeacherMikeEnglish  10 місяців тому +3

      Hi. No offence taken. I appreciate the feedback.
      Because my videos are designed to be accessible not only to people like you, but also to people with a much lower level of English, I focus more on Speaking clearly and giving a clear explanation than I do on pretending to be excited about the topic.😅
      However, this is something that I am trying to improve on because speaking with lots of emotion is not natural to me, and I know I probably need to do it a bit more to be successful on UA-cam.
