Iko Uwais is one of the most underrated martial arts action stars.
Not by anyone who has seen him in motion.
They wasted him in Mile 22. All those cuts.
he only need a good director that understands martial arts, just like Gareth Evans
I really can't wait for his next martial arts action movie, Si Buta dari Gua Hantu (The Blind Man from the Ghost Cave).
The movie is a part of Bumilangit Cinematic Universe (the Indonesian superhero universe).
They should put him in the next John Wick movie. Either as an ally or an enemy of John, it’d be kick ass.
The bathroom fight, the prison fight, the car chase fight, hammer girl and bat boy, the kitchen fight.. overload of awesome fight choreography.
Stop horsin’ around the night club fight ending in a snowy alley, the movie makes it all work.
There's also 'Gang war'. It was deleted from movie but you can find it on YT, another amazing scene
@@radowidredanski3915 Every time I watch this movie, I away pause just before the gang war scene ends and just before Rama's ambush in the taxi scene just slip that shootout in... makes the movies even better IMO!
Hey, aren't you the horse from Horsin around?
YES!!! I saw this movie in theaters and it was soooooo glorious.
Choosing between Raid & Raid 2 is like choosing between Alien & Aliens. Some people can choose, I cannot, it depends on my mood, as I love both.
Tbf though aliens 2 is shite
@@winkblue6851 No, it's awesome. You just don't like it. There is a big difference between something being objectively bad and you just not liking it. Aliens 3+ were all shite tho. :)
That's probably the best analogy for wc film anyone could like more imo
Wink Blue tbf you just have shitty taste guy
Personally I liked the Raid 2 better of the two, basically because it had more plot, and I'm largely a plot guy. So I was looking forward to seeing what Jeremy thought of it.
Fun Fact: The director wrote raid 2 as a stand alone movie named "Berandal". With the same basic plot. He couldn't get funding for it so he made The Raid. And then after its popularity he was able to create the sequel. Changing the the screenplay of "Berandal" to make The raid 2.
Maybe that's why the sequel feels more like a deep dive and flushed out
.fleshed out
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CLEARING THIS UP FOR ME. Ive speculated that this just feels like a diffrent movie with raid 2 just slapped on. Its a good movie but not much of a sequel. I really do appreciate the input. Thank you.
That explains why the connections to the first one seemed tacked on and like you could easily cut them out without losing anything
The Raid 2: You’re gonna need a band aid.
Or...a band raid.
I'll see myself out...
At least it’s better than the usual The Raid 2: Electric Boogaloo
@DevWardPro Ba dum tshhh
Or...you're gonna need a stretcher...
...like Dev said...I'll show myself to the door...
More like...you're gonna need a bigger tv
The Raid 2 is one of the greatest action movies of all time, period

(not a typo)
John Wick is literally inspired by The Raid series. The creators of John Wick have said it so. They even got Mad Dog and the assassin in John Wick 3.
Yeah watched it last night, laughed when Keanu walks away and doesn't kill them...bring those 2 back for Wick 4 with Iko !!
Uh John Wick was inspired by the Korean Movie: The Man From nowhere.
@@mugen4516 inspiration can't be just one
And Gareth Evans was inspired by 80s & 90s Hong Kong action cinema.
Even John Wick 3 pick the motorcycle chase scenes from the Korean action flick "the villainess" which is awesome btw.
I live in Utah and was so pumped after seeing the first Raid that I was shocked that they came to Sundance over here for The Raid 2, so I waited in line and couldn't get a ticket but someone sold me their friends who didn't show up! I even met the director! These movies will always have a special place in my nostalgic memory. Super pumped that I got to share that lol thanks for reviewing it
Awesome!!! What was Gareth Evans like?

The Fight scene in the car is brilliant done better then any Fast and Furious
They are two completely different movies
@@jamesward3859 Doesn't mean you can't compare. They're both action movies.
Fantasy vs reality
That's not really a high bar.
didn't even mention the prison yard scene. one of the best and iconic action scenes in the history of cinema
I far prefer the other scenes, but let's face it. Each and every one of these fight scenes alone would be the greatest ever.
@@averagejoe6617 all the fight scenes in this movie could be the big final fight scene in most average movies hahaha
The final fight against the Assassin is one of my favourite fights of all time
Probably top 5 fights of any cinema, period.

Wow, he actually compared this movie to the Arkham games, that’s awesome
it's a very fair analogy and he's right
@Gioco Royeca Recently played Arkham asylum & city for the first time, Knight is still my favorite!!. Epic..
Iko Uwais (Rama) should be in John Wick 4, as either John's ally or enemy.
Ally bruh. His martial technique is too great for the plot to demand his defeat at the hands of Keanu.
@@christophernazario2375 well in John Wick 3, Keanu already defeat Mad Dog and Assassin from Raid 2.
@@mikeecho3092 ok let me rephrase. I'll only be ok with it if it's Neo.

Straight up, The Raid 2 last half hour is just full on blistering action and the kitchen fight literally left me breathless when watching it at Cinema. Just amazing film...and the car chase/fight....awesome! Raid 2 wins it for me over the Raid
The antagonists from The Raid are in John Wick.
That obvious but did you know Keanu Reeves isn't in the Raid?
Yayan Ruhian ( Mad Dog from the first and the old assasin from the second) and Iko Uwais (Rama) also have a small role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the bounty hunter gang that hunts down Han Solo and Chewie
Which one.. 👀

Watch "The Night Comes For Us." A lot of the same actors are in that movie and the action is amazing.
The crazy drugged out looking friend in "The night comes for us" was a BADASS in the apartment fight!
@@roscojenkins7451 He should also check out Headshot, which is also on Netflix from the same director.
Rosco Jenkins White boy Bobby
There are some good scenes but there is also a lot of exaggerated violence
In gonna look for this!
Completely agree. Both Raid movies are incredible action films but Raid 1 works better because of its simplicity. 2 improves upon 1 but is a little too long and has too much going on.
Well, if you love violent action movies, then the unusual extra length is a real bonus. ;) I prefer Raid 2 overall because of the action choreo on display and the fact that it doesn't just limit the scenes to a building like in the first movie haha.
That last fight though, sheesh
Too much punch punch kick kick.
Chooks I don't mind give me that long extra time
I liked the Raid 1 much better. Part 2 was just all over the place, and way too long..
Jeremy is living proof that ads don't always have to be annoying.
Ryan reynolds style ads
When done right
he slides it in so smoothly
I didnt even want to skip it, was just part of the video
@@benry007 i skipped that shit so hard and couldn't believe it lasted a whole god damn minute. thats like 20% of his video.
I actually prefer The Raid 2. Yea the first Raid has a simpler plot, but Raid 2 just expands upon everything in the best way possible. The prison riot scene blew my damn mind the first time I saw it.
The Raid 2 is actually a step over The Raid Redemption in my opinion! Both are top notch action films however!
Yeah I agree heavily, Scoob wasn’t a good movie... as the OG Movie Fred would say “I think Coolsville sucks” expect replace “Coolsville with “this movie”. Fair review.
You’re on the wrong vi- oh you knew that... carry on then
beginning was pretty good ( my little sister liked it ) then it somehow didnt go anywhere for for rest of movie
The Raid 2 is the closest to a Sleeping Dogs movie we'll ever have.
On some real shit ✊
As someone who's seen The Raid and absolutely loves Sleeping Dogs, I think it's about time I see The Raid 2.
@@luuketaylor You're lucky. Wish I could forget and rewatch it
@@luuketaylor bro it's actually unreal. Loved the sleeping dogs feel in the raid 2. 😭 Ya lucky bastard
Technically there is a Sleeping Dogs movie in pre-production. It has Donnie Yen attached to it. I love him, although he would be more than thirty years too old in theory :D
It's the Alien vs Aliens argument.
perfect comparison tbh
I prefer Alien over Aliens, just because the first film is more of a Psychological Horror and Aliens is more of a Action Horror (Which it is). But I always been more of a Psychological Horror guy so for me Alien takes the 1st place just for that alone, and the tone of that film is just superbly good! But I am not going to sit here and say that Aliens is not as good as Alien because it is, in its own way. But if I had to choose between two I will go with an Alien, I love some of that slow burn Psychological horror esc films 😂👽 but Aliens is by far the best Action Horror film out there! Period. Along side with Predator and The Thing with Kurt Russell. And if I had to choose between Raid or Raid 2... I have to go with Raid 2, its arguably the greatest Action film ever made! A Flawless Masterpiece.
@@Feoktistovs I just recently rewatched Alien and Aliens for the first time in years, and I honestly cannot choose between the two. I feel like Aliens has a cooler story with more cool "stuff" and character development, but from a craft and filmmaking perspective, the original Alien is pretty flawless. The cinematography and production design, tone and atmosphere really knocked my socks off. If Aliens had the same cinematography and atmosphere as the first, I'd be in heaven.
Aliens is slightly superior in my opinion.
Perhaps, but I prefer Aliens and The Raid.
Best fighting movie in the past 50 years.
100% agree
Fist of Legend (1994) is also great.
Gotta go with raid 2. Doubles up on everything that made raid 1 spectacular + great car chases. The prison riot was absolutely nuts. Watch the deleted scene of the gang war and you will see how jam packed with action this movie truely is!!!!! And THAT SCENE got left on the cutting room floor.
It's DEFINITELY Raid 2 over the first Raid for me. It delved even deeper into the criminal underground world, it had beautiful cinematography and was shot extremely well, the story was interesting and well-written, the characters were compelling, and the action scenes were even BIGGER and BETTER!! The fight choreography was absolutely insane... especially that kitchen fight, which is definitely one of the best fight sequences in film history! So yeah... The Raid 2 for me, hands down.
P.S. That was a pretty great Keanu Reeves impression. I wish I still made compilation videos of Jeremy Jahns doing celebrity impressions. I have two of them on my channel. Check 'em out if you're interested, y'all!!
That kitchen scene was phenomenal man. I just watched the movie and I can’t get over how amazing that scene was. Hell, the last 30 minutes of this movie is probably the best action I have ever seen in a movie ever!!
The thing is, objectively, the fight scenes are better, but i prefer the choreography of the first one. It had much more intensity of the claustrophobic atmosphere and i was really afraid that the main hero can easily die, from exhaustion. It was dirtier and also much more authentic, cause Rama was trying to eliminate his opponents so they could not fight back. It had that survival element and it was so refreshing to see main hero struggling, running away, hiding cause he was scared and sweating. Raid 2 has more guys standing on background before their turn will kick in, which first Raid didn´t had at all, even on background, we could see dudes fighting.
Ok, I'm definitely watching both Raid films now.
And after tht watch "The Night Comes for Us" ,which is like a "spiritual successor".Most of the actors, same fight/stunt team, different story and director though.Oh and it´s even more violent if you can believe it.
And then, watch "Gangs of London",the tv-show made by "The Raid" director/writer Gareth Evans.9 episodes of awesome gangster-drama with excellent action/fight scenes, like in "The Raid".
Doublep, I had no idea this TV show existed, I've been itching to see more of this directors work. I love the raid films and the segment he did in vhs 2 with timo was so badass, but I wasn't aware of much other work aside from his films prior to the raid. This is awesome news thanks for sharing!
You're not gonna regret it.
The Night Comes For Us on Netflix is almost like a weird-spiritual sequel you should check out. (If you gushed over the bloody violence in the Raid films...oh boy you're in for a treat) A lot of the same actors and stunt team that worked on these films are in it as well. Highly recommend it.
The fight choreography is much better in the Raid movies. The Night Comes for Us good thou... Much more blood/gore in that one.
I disagree. In tncfu its far more trible violence. Less "pretty" but far more gritty and scary. Aaaaand the last fight is the best choreographed fight ive ever seen ever
Thanks Mike will give this one a go!
not weird at all... timo and gareth evans have worked together before, on the safe haven segment of VHS and the indonesian movie killers(like indonesian dexter)
have no doubt he consulted evans on making it... but timo is a horror director so he did it horror style
The kitchen fight is one of the most intense and cathartic fight scenes I've ever seen. The first movie might be more rewatchable as a whole, but the second has the best "I'm just gonna watch this scene" moments imho.
All the “boss” fights are insane. The kitchen at the end has yet to be topped
The Raid’s fight scenes are on a whole other level
Jeremy, you should watch The Night come for us, it's pretty much the spiritual successor of the raid films
I just watched it last night! Was my least favorite of the bunch but i enjoyed it regardless.
Everyone please watch Gangs of London! It’s a uk crime drama directed by Gareth Evans and the action is just as if not more glorious than the raids. Episode 5 will go down as the greatest action episode in tv history. DO NOT sleep on this comment. This show isn’t getting anyway near the attention it deserves. Go watch it. You won’t regret it!
The story is kind of disappointing tho
Too many memorable moments in this film. That part where dude was driving in reverse and swerved at the last second, baited the henchman to crash into the divider was also noteworthy.
I saw The Raid 2 in theaters and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
It’s so hard to pick because, you’re right Jeremy, Mad Dog was insane. What I like about his character too is that he fights with honor. No weapons and even allowed time for the opponent to get up. I don’t remember much of the raid two but I am glad you enjoyed it. I was waiting for these for a long time!!
Yup, i totally agree with you broo, And one more things i want to add, Once a bad guy, Always a bad guy, You can see when Mad dog got beaten up and realized he's gonna get his ass kick, And then u can see mad dog face changed and throw away all the honor aside.. Dude just going forward with intention to kill different from early fight when he beat up easy rama and his brother .. Hahahaha, Dude just got mad and think _"fuck this, i give my opponent so many chance to get up and fight with honor, but they slap outta me so hard, And now im gonna kill you both, No more honor for both of you"_
Try rewatch that fight scene again: He's done it twice, first with the sergeant, second with rama and the brother.. Hahaha, yayan ruhian is good actor, He just show his facial expression to give us the audience how he feel. no need to talk much like cliche villain..
I just reviewed these movies a couple weeks ago on IG. The Raid 2 is a perfect martial arts movie IMO. The fights, choreography, character development, and story were all stepped up. I loved every second of it.
Dredd was written before 'The Raid' I think. Or at least, they came to be simultaneously, yet separately.
Dredd was indeed written before Raid, and went in to preproduction first, which, given the CG and effects taking longer to get done, is why Dredd came out shortly after The Raid.
Dredd is crap compaired to raid
I preferred the 'Final Boss Fight' element from the Raid 1 over 2 (awesome as the assassin in 2 was), but the dramatic villain downfall in 2 is better since they had set up the motivations of being in the crime family and why they feel betrayed by Ramas actions. Its fantastic filmmaking and a worthy follow up, but I prefer how compact the first one is. Gareth Evans is a filmmaker to watch out for.
6 years later and this movie is still the absolute king of asian action cinema.
I wonder how long will it take before something overtakes it. I was so disappointed when they decided not to go through with Raid 3.
@@L3GIQN Agreed, wish the 3rd film was created. Hopefully Gareth comes back to it soon

@@Pewpewpew182 indeed it is, stars also joe taslim and iko uwais from the first movie, i gotta warn you tho, this movie felt a little bit cartooney? Like a movie adaptation of comic, i cant really explain it but thats how it is
Jeremy you need to see the making of the raid 2. That car chase is remarkable how they filmed that. No CGI.
(my friend) I don't like foreign films. (My friend after I showed him the raid movies) can I borrow these?
I gotta say I remember at the time the Raid 2 being on my list for one of the best action films ever. I mean from the Car Chase scene, to Hammergirl and Baseball Bat Man, and then that brutal ass kitchen scene. I have to rewatch it.
Gareth Evans recently came out with a new tv show called "Gangs of London". It's basically his Raid movies, except set in London and with hour long episodes. If you haven't checked it out yet, you really should.
The beauty is all the choreography still looks amazing years later. Whether its a fight in a warehouse, a subway, a kitchen, etc. It all feels so happenstance and connected at the same time. Fart punchlines don't have this kind of precise timing.
Fun fact: the Raid 2 was originally planned as a single movie with the working title Thug before there was any Raid 1. It got delayed and some of its choreography was then used on Raid 1 when it came out. The director even stated they wanted to save the most complex fights for the movie now known as the sequel to The Raid. The Kitchen fight scene took several months to shoot if I'm not mistaken...
The Raid 2 is simply the greatest action film ever made while giving an honorable nod to Die Hard (1988) being the greatest Hollywood action film ever made. The Raid 2 is arguably the greatest sequel film ever made, definitely in the top 5 list no problem.
No cap like literally just watched it again and best fight movie of all time
@@derrickevansjr3564 They should have done a Part 3 years ago while the actors were still young and able. It would've gone down as one of the greatest trilogies ever made. Yet we get more Marvel and Star Wars crap.
@@mrjones29 no cap, but they maybe still can after some years Later. Because at the end the main character said he done. So he can be done for some years and come back

I have an idea for your next series of Reviews: Do all of Hayao Miyazaki's Movies starting with Castle Of Cagliostro and ending with The Wind Rises.
Oo those ghibli'a masterpieces!
their entire list (22/23[?] movie7) is just the definition of satisfactory treat for all 'age', indeed..
Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke & The Wind Rises are Awesometacular.
No offense intended, but I feel that Miyazaki has had more than enough exposure in the mainstream already, and would prefer other more-often-overlooked directors get some time in the spotlight.
Isao Takahata, for instance, or Masaaki Yuasa (and oh man, is there a veritable wellspring to be plumbed from Yuasa's body of work), or Mamoru Hosoda, or Naoko Yamada, one of the few female anime directors out there and who directed A Silent Voice.
Granted, I don't think Jeremy really covers anime very much, so it would be unfair to expect a really detailed dive into an industry that is as old as Western animation.
@@Vasharan Dude it's not that deep I'm only suggesting Jeremy do this BECAUSE he doesn't cover many Anime films and maybe hasn't seen Miyazaki's work. He of course doesn't have to listen to me he probably hasn't even seen this Comment.

HoundSyrup you reminded me why life is so cruel
HoundSyrup You should give The Night Comes for Us on Netflix. Nowhere near as good as the radio movies, but close enough. :)
The writer/director doesn’t know where to go with the story. It’s a good reason to not make a sequel. I’d rather no sequel than a crap sequel. Looking at you Disney!
@@Marrs47 I completely agree with you. However; I would think after so many years he would have maybe written something amazing! That's me being selfish though. Lol.
@@HoundSyrup after all these years Gateth Evans has written something amazing - his latest TV series Gangs of London. Amazing story telling and action similar to Raid 2.
They’re both near perfect movies. The first Raid holds a special place in my heart because it set that bar. The Raid 2 meets and exceeds expectations. It’s a tough choice but when you own both, you don’t have to choose.
It’s about time he did this review, I’ve been waiting and constantly refreshing his channel ever since the first Raid review.
I love how all the fights in this movie have a build up much like EDM music has a build up to a drop. They took that same concept and dropped amazing fights.
Loving the longer hair Jeremy.
If you can find Gangs of London anywhere, it’s a very recent show and it’s also created by Gareth Evans (he directs episodes 1 & 5). The story is pretty tight, the fighting is still top notch and episode 5 is just *chef’s kiss*
The kitchen fight scene with volume turned right up is my all time favourite fight scene ever. It's amazing, also watching the film back recently the car chase scene is phenomenal too, doesn't get the credit it deserves.
Make Raid 3 already Gareth...!
Oh and for John Wick 4 we need Iko Uwais teamed up with Mad Dog and the Assassin.
The Raid 2 is what I much prefer over the Raid 1, but I freaking love both films. If you speak Indonesian or grew up in Indonesia, you’ll have WAYY more enjoyment with 2 than the first because Uco & Reza are played by really famous actors over there. Also the dialogue is exponentially better because in the Raid 1 the criminals talk too politely in Indonesian which becomes funny to hear, whereas in this film everyone talks exactly how Indonesians should talk. Uco especially has the best acting moments in the film with his dad, and I knew the actor from his younger days when he acted in a high school romance film. It’s quite a change in tone, and I love it.
Snow in Jakarta though? HAHAHAHA, that’s like if there’s a scene in Star Wars where Obi Wan has force lighting. Indonesia is a hot country that never has winter at all.
The final fights remain the best fight scene out of the 2 films. It’s one of the few times where after the fight is done, my mouth dropped & I fucking clapped for that shit, and I’m still rewatching the fights whenever I feel like doing it. The music really heightens the awesomeness. Mad Dog though, whooof, he’s still the best bad guy in the series no doubt about it. Mad Dog and the Assassin both got to fight John Wick in 3 so that’s sweet!
As the others have said, you should watch Night Comes For Us as well. It’s the spiritual successor to the Raid, but with horror movie gores. Cool fights, and the gore’s so messed up that it’s actually a way better horror movie than Saw. XD
*Prays that Jeremy watches The Night Comes For Us on Netflix*
Watch Gareth’s new uk tv show Gangs of London. The action surpasses the raid imo
Love this film SO much
Amen³
@@ironTOM1998 just finished watching Gangs Of London. Its great but the action isn't as good as The Raid movies IMO; its as brutal as them but in terms of the actual fighting its not close.
If they make a Mortal Kombat sequel, they should totally include the fight choreographer from the raid movies, I'd love to see the brutal bloody realistic looking fight scenes like the kitchen scene in Raid 2 but in a Mortal Kombat setting 🤩 that would be totally kick-ass!
Did you notice that the boss fight in the first and second movie, were the 2 guys John Wick fought at the end of John Wick 3. Probably the same choreographer for all movies which is awesome
The way the action is framed on camera is insane in the raid 2. Great moments being when the meth head jumps sideways through a window and the camera follows him. Or when they're doing close up shots in a car during the chase scene then move to do close ups in the car behind it with no obvious cuts.
The Raid 2 always and forever. The hallway fight scene finished it for me🎯🎯🎯 but the kitchen, oh the kitchen.😍😍😍 This is basically what the street fighter or mortal Kombat movies should have been!
Oh The Kitchen, indeed.
behinds the scenes video for the car chase is great. hidden camera guy disguised as a car seat/headrest. epic.
... after trying to dodge the whole "The Raid came out first" argument you then walk right into the "Dredd was filmed first" argument. The Raid being filmed second but coming out first really hurt Dredd as people kept comparing them and claiming that Dredd was the rip-off. In my opinion, the two films were entirely unconnected.
In my opinion, the two films were entirely awesome... no matter what.
It wouldnt matter which 1 of them came out 1st becuz both of them in the end still were inspired by Die Hard lol. At least with their own twist.
I'm still hopelessly wating for Dredd 2. I don't care if they make exactly the same movie again.
He’s not trying to dodge the argument, he’s trying to keep pedantic assholes like yourself from becoming upset over what he says. The Prestige video is full of people saying “I can’t believe you haven’t seen this yet!” “You call yourself a movie reviewer but haven’t seen this??” etc etc & same with his The Raid video. Semantic, unimportant things to care about. Yet, somebody always manages to do so. Case in point, this comment.
Easily one of my favorite and most rewatched movies. This is the sleeping dogs video game movie I dream of. As well as a great sequel to the first film
Man, Sleeping Dogs is one of those games that have been in my pile of shame for forever it feels like. I really need to get around to playing it.
Everyone here knew you’d love The Raid films. And, like everyone here says, The Night Comes For Us is your next logical step. Feels like a Raid successor. Action is even more brutal and beautiful than the Raids (Police van fight scene is the action scene ever put to film).
Its good but no where better
Everyone please watch Gangs of London! It’s a uk crime drama directed by Gareth Evans and the action is just as if not more glorious than the raids. Best film I saw last year
no it sucks, the violences are completely unnecessary and just trying too hard to recreate the horror vibe we get from watching the raid
The night comes for us is 8n no way a sequel. Not the same main character. Iko Uwais is a criminal and not a cop. Plus the movie just was no that good.
So glad you finally found them. I've been waiting for these reviews for years!!! I'm raid2 myself but yeah. respect to the OG raid.
I told you man, that kitchen fight scene is one of the best ever 🙌🏾🙌🏾
The raid 3 NEEDS to happen. I never got the chance to see the first two when they came out cuz they didn’t play in any theaters near me
Please watch "Gangs of London" you will love the action. Gareth made a masterpiece here.
That 10 minute fight scene towards the end is the best of all time
The music makes the biggest difference for me. I loved Mike Shinoda's composition from the first one and the ending credits song with Chino Moreno on vocals was just too perfect.
I prefer the Raid 2 for basically all the reasons you said in the video, just an overall deeper story with the same great action scenes and choreography. But in addition to that, following news and build up to the release of the Raid 2 back in 2013-2014 is pretty memorable and nostalgic for me as well. Both movies are 10/10s in my eyes, an argument can definitely be made for either one being better. Glad you’ve finally seen both.
I think Raid 2 edges out Raid 1 for me in rewatch ability simply because I really enjoy the world building of the second movie. Fights aside, just the acting and dialog in R2 are fantastic to watch.
A quick trivia from imdb (because I'm too lazy to write it myself): Originally, The Raid 2 was written before The Raid 1. When funding fell through for The Raid 2, Gareth Evans (director) decided to do a film that required a lower budget that would eventually become the first movie.
Saw both in the cinema. Raid 2's retelling of The Godfather took me a little while to fully grasp and in that way the original raid's simplicity is definitely appreciated. But the way the killer just smiles as they square off in the kitchen gives me chills every time.
However, #1 kill is The Raid's Man Vs Door with an "outta nowhere" RKO.
You didn't talk about Hammer Girl! That's the BEST tinhg of this movie!!
He did. Watch the clip maybe ?
He did bruh..
"The Night come for us" is next plz plz
TNCFU and Headshot both felt like lackluster attempts at recreating The Raid. They weren't terrible but they weren't great it either. It's like going from G.O.T to Spartacus quality lol.
@@christophernazario2375 it has flaws but it's still better than many rubbish martial arts these days, and it's from the same choreography team from the raid and also made by indonesians
Appreciate your reviews. It’s chill and straight to the point. Please review Commando when you have the chance. It’s on HBO GO for now. Take it easy.
Raid 2 is 100% better than 1. Story, action, acting, everything is taken up a notch and is honestly such a thrill ride of an experience that it feels about an hour long! My jaw dropped when Jeremy said it was 2 and a half hours because it definitely doesn’t feel like it!
My favourite action film of all time, my second favourite film of all time and the most rewatchable film ever!
Have you reviewed "Ipman", Donnie Yen. Curious on what you think.
So glad you reviewed this. Please review these movies with Iko Uwais:
Headshot
Beyond Skyline
Triple Threat
Wu Assassins (not a movie, but a netflix series)
The Night Comes For Us
Wu Assassins is just, meh...
I Always look forward to these reviews and "Guns! Lots of Guns!" Thanks for doing what you do,
Now it's time for 'The Night Comes for us' closest movie and fight scenes to the Raid.
Check out Gangs of London. Gareth Evans new tv show. The action is better than the raids. Especially episode 5 holy shit
I like the “Linkin Park” music they use.
I'm sold.
Thank you for reviewing these movies and happy you like them! I am sure more people will watch these wonders now!!!!!!!!!
I haven't seen it till now. Binged the first and second movie in one sitting. The fight choreography is amazing. I was afraid of missing something if I blinked. Haven't been this excited for a movie in a long time. The actors in this movie man. You can feel every punch, every kick. Me seeing it, it's all thanks to your Cobra Kai season 3 review, where you mentioned The Raid for a split second. 😆😆Life is funny that way.
You should watch Train To Busan. even thought its 3 years old saw that movie yesterday, hella emotional movie for a "zombie" movie
Hell yeah
I personally think The Wailing is way better than Busan. Another Korean horror that came out the same year as Busan but got overshadowed. It was a hit in Korea.
I love The Raid and The Raid 2 equally. I almost see them as one giant movie since it's all apart of the same story.
I see you've done some old movie reviews. I was wondering if you could do a movie review for men of honor. It is my favorite movie and I found a lot of people have never heard of it. I think we all can use a true story that's about never quiting. Anyways big fan, love what you do. Thanks man.
fun fact: the final bosses in both Raid 1 & 2 (the Mad Dog & the Assassin) are so badass even John Wick gives them respect
Hey, Jeremy. Can you do a review on the classic The Princess Bride? Thanks!
Eduardo Rivera I don’t know why he needs too. We all know it’s one of the greatest movies of all time.
@@aswar123warren3 I acknowledge people love that film but I just don't get the appeal honestly. It's a decent film but I just don't understand why it's so popular.
@@aswar123warren3 Yes! But in the other hand, quarantine
@@bigkmoviesandgames Is a cheap 80's film for sure. But is like Beltlejuice. The concept, the story and the characters are so rich that makes it very memorable.
@@EduardoRivera-ej8ju oh I don't have anything against a movie being cheap or older ( the majority of my favorite films are older than me) but to me at least it's just kind of an ok film with some decent characters and moments. Just nothing about it is exceptional at least not to me. But if others love it to each their own. I'll just personally probably never really grasp its popularity.
The "Gang Warfare" deleted scene hfs
Totally worth the watch if you can find it!
I’ve waited for this review for so long that I have to watch it at least twice!
4:44 that's why i like your reviews n follow them n never got disappointed ...it was not great it was a legendary example ... this man is making even greater stuff in quarantine
