The explanation here was a little simplistic. They actually used a bunch of different techniques, depending on the needs of the shot. And yeah, sometimes it was a truck in a box. You should watch the whole Vanity Fair video. It's fascinating.

Stunt men have my respect 💯% for what they do. Movies wouldn’t be made possible without the stunts you guys do. And Keanu Reeves just kicks ass in John Wick.

Actually, it gain a lot of recognition afterward with the dvd market and Internet streaming. Iko Uwais is a huge martial art stunt actor now, for the fan of the genre at least.
I enjoy watching the stuntmen react series and Eric Linden is a great guest. You guys should definitely do more. I would love to see a reaction to the zero-gravity hallway fight scene in Inception. I would like to hear Erics take on what was a difficult but great looking stunt.
There was a car chase scene in raid 2 where the camera goes through a car in one long take. That scene was very impressive with how they filmed it. Had a guy in the car dressed up as one of the seats that passed the camera through the cab.
I'd love to see the truck flip (and the chase leading up to it) from The Dark Knight. Also I'd really like to see a dedicated practical effects series. A couple I'd like to see are the tornado from The Wizard of Oz, the Norris head from The Thing, and the expanding muffin from The Force Awakens.
This guy din't give the Raid's "floppy hand" any justice. There's a reason why they do that. What they used in Raid is Silat, the Malay form of martial arts and they tend to have alot of wavy movements in order to fake out opponent before landing a blow and by keeping their hands in motion, it's easier for a practitioner to counter or intercept a blow rather than just stay still and wait for the blow to come then move. In fact that kind of "constant movement" is present in almost every great martial artist. Look at Bruce Lee. He never stays still too and is constant swaying side by side before he does any kicks is because it gives him the momentum and also the quicker reaction to intercept or deal any blows rather than being stationary. Think of it this way... You and another person is in seperate but same model of cars. Both of you have the same goals of reaching 150mph 1st. You're stationary while your opponent has a headstart of driving at 10mph. When the race starts, of course your opponent would win because he had the inertia to reduce wheelspin and everyone knows "spinning ain't winning". Same thing goes to why those wavy hand syndrome is shown in The Raid and many other martial arts movies.
In the first mad max the guy who flipped twice and was fully limp when he hit the ground is considered the greatest stunt of all time. Could you guys break that down.
Do you have a link or something to it? I tried to find it out of curiosity but wasn't sure which stunt it was. There isn't a shortage of crazy stunt work in that franchise lol
@Memes On Piano That's correct, and it's incredible. If you stand outside the hallway section and look inside while it's rotating it makes you nauseous, according to the actors.

I hated that scene I mean this is the good guys and they're dragging this vault through the streets and all I'm thinking is how many people does that vault just randomly kill as your smashing it through buildings and cars.
@@Warcodered01 Are they really the good guys? maybe in comparison to the people they're going after, but each character has a long list of felonies
@@aaronking5640 I mean that's true and the only movie that actually examined that at all in the series was the 1st one though I guess the 4th kind of half asses it again. After that they all just got the assumed good/crook with a heart of gold treatment.
Warcodered01 I wouldn’t say they’re good guys so much as they are the protagonists, protagonists are just the main character not necessarily the good guy, the terminology gets used synonymously with “hero” but the protagonist is just the main character of the story
The "Swiriy slap" is a real and effective part of Silat, for a real world example watch Anderson Silva vs Michael Bisping
1:04 actually, its not rotoscope or greenscreen. They really did it on the set. The mattress part is correct though.
Here’s the link to the actual vfx scene of the raid:

I did NOT expect the vault scene in Fast Five to be actually done practically! Wow!
Same, although the part where it hits the bollards and tumbles obviously wasn't practical.
@@TheOriginaMurrinator Thinking the same thing.
The explanation here was a little simplistic. They actually used a bunch of different techniques, depending on the needs of the shot. Sometimes it was a lightweight vault on steel sled tracks actually being towed down the street. Sometimes it was a heavier vault being towed by an off-screen truck. And yeah, sometimes it was a truck in a box. You should watch the whole Vanity Fair video. It's fascinating.
@@TheOriginaMurrinator Except it was. Watch the Vanity Fair video. You will be amazed at how much work went into it, and how little of the scene is CG.
The guy who fell down knew they were never going to be able to beat Batman so he just pretended to be knocked-out so he didn't have to get beaten up by him.
When are we gonna start talking about the subtle subscribe messages sprinkled in the video

That slapping movement on the raid is the part of pencak silat technique (the martial art used in the raid movie)
That is not something they make to fill the gap between the fight
Eric is commentary gold - I love when you have him on the show.
Any of the daredevil fight scenes. That hallway fight from season 1 was crazy.
I think you should take mad Max Fury Road for a next video
Stunt men have my respect 💯% for what they do. Movies wouldn’t be made possible without the stunts you guys do. And Keanu Reeves just kicks ass in John Wick.
please react to the corridor fight scene in old boy (2003).
and compare it to the much messier scene from the remake! it is bad AND good stunts, after all
Von Funk Oh hell yeah
I was just about to comment this, that scene is incredible.
We got the same idea bro
Me: Yay they’re covering “The Raid” 1 and 2!
The video: A minute on “The Raid” 1, nothing on 2.
Me: -_-
Jack Stoutamore probably not even a minute for The Raid :/
Rick Burton
Yeah I’m disappointed
they could be saving it for the next video, but most likely not
@@Slask7 cause the raid it was good in all the figh scenes
Jeferson Afonso i know but these videos are not reactions to bad stunts only :)
Please keep doing stuntmen react!! Theyre my favorite videos
The Raid Redemption is a brilliant film
Yesss
Badass
The Raid 2 is great too
"They use kit cars"
let's take a moment of silence for the 400 + very real Dodge Chargers destroyed in The Dukes of Hazzard
I feel physical pain reading this... I fuckin love muscle cars dude.
@@wangusbeef86 Yeah, and sadly those Mustangs in John Wick are very real :(
Pliant Impala785 yeah, and lamborghini countach in wows
I thought he said the mustangs were kit cars? I really hope so...
Otherwise do you know how many they ruined?
Don't forget Knight Rider.
The problem is that the vault really looked like CGI because of the overdone visual effects!
It looked like CGI, because large steel vaults being dragged behind cars don't look like they're on wheels.
Could y'all react to the daredevil hallway fight from season 1
Maybe even the ones from S2 and S3 aswell.
Alexis Collins the prison scene from season 3
man, the fights from that series were pure gold!
Jesus this
How about the hallway scene from Oldboy that daredevil is copying?
I feel like the "beats" in the raid are due to them mainly doing Kali.
They teach you to basically always keep your hands moving and "flowing" but at the same time it does look like swimming
You should do the daredevil tv hallway fight scenes
Doug the type of guy to review a 1989 hOnDA CiVIc
Doug the type of guy to tell you the quirks and features of his girlfriend
“The Book of Eli” and “The Equalizer” both have some impressive stuntwork.
Denzel Washington is the man.
You know this is a great show when it feels like it ends WAY too soon and you're left wanting more!
Kinda disappointed the Raid got almost no recognition... They have crazy stunts in the second movie... PLEASE DO THE RAID 2!!!
Yeah they put the kitchen fight in the thumbnail so I was expecting that
@Cyberdemon Mike The Raid lame? Fuck off, for real though. It's known to be one of the best martial arts movie ever.
Actually, it gain a lot of recognition afterward with the dvd market and Internet streaming. Iko Uwais is a huge martial art stunt actor now, for the fan of the genre at least.
@Cyberdemon Mike you can't blame that, it's the martial art style he used. The same like karate with kicking and kicking.
You look lame and overchoreographed
Batman vs superman warhouse scene ...You need to react to it

Hell yes! One the few good things about the movie.
oh bitch pls, don´t be this person

I enjoy watching the stuntmen react series and Eric Linden is a great guest. You guys should definitely do more. I would love to see a reaction to the zero-gravity hallway fight scene in Inception. I would like to hear Erics take on what was a difficult but great looking stunt.
Yes! I still love that entire sequence
That swirly slap in the Raid Movie is a "Silat Technic"
Awesome how John Wick always receives compliments from people that know about this stuff, amazing
There was a car chase scene in raid 2 where the camera goes through a car in one long take. That scene was very impressive with how they filmed it. Had a guy in the car dressed up as one of the seats that passed the camera through the cab.
The Raid is an underrated action movie
Yeah, it's so awesome and badass.
True
Not at all anyone who watches movies knows about this movie
How is it underrated when everyone knows it, and most of them praise it?
It's overrated at this point.
Huge Respect for this Stunt Guy, very simple and funny...lots to learn from their attitude towards Life and their job.
Do Netflix's Daredevil, it would be great
also the Defender !
INTERESTING FACT! HE IS THE NETLIX "THE PUNISHER" JON BERNTHAL STUNTMEN!
You guys should totally react to the original old boy corridor scene
This. Yes.
yes
There isn't a shortage of crazy stunt work in that franchise lol
is it this you mean? ua-cam.com/video/1CoLFf6BtlI/v-deo.html
Isn't that just actually a guy getting royally fucked up, not a stunt?
@@NneonNTJ Ya this is the stunt didn't know it was from the 2nd movie

Keanu Reeves does ALOT of his own stunts in the John Wick series. It’s quite impressive.
he learned lots of tricks during making matrix
I think he once said the only stunts he won't do is getting hit by a car and falling down stairs.
No. He does the fighting, shooting, and driving. He leaves the stunts to the stuntmen. His own words
@@jacobmcmillan6787 no he does all
of his stunts on his own he has no stunt double
@giorno Giovanna nope 😂 there are dozens of interviews where Keanu mentions that he does not do his own stunts
I would love to see a breakdown of the rotating hallway fight scene from Inception!!!
@Memes On Piano That's correct, and it's incredible. If you stand outside the hallway section and look inside while it's rotating it makes you nauseous, according to the actors.
Thanks for making this series. I always knew about the stunts these people had to do but I never had as much respect for what they put themselves through as I do now
That "swirly Slaps", Its not a random act. That move used to "distract" their opponent.
Like the red tassels on Asian swords and spears. Not just for decoration.
But not that much tho it's wasting energy in real silat

They cover up curse words with it. On other videos it can just be a screaming sound.
It's a censor, it's not random.

React to Daredevil hallway fights! Especially season 3 in prison
Still patiently waiting on a react to Jackie Chans HK films, especially Armour Of God where he nearly died
Or Project A, where he nearly died. Or Winners and Sinners, where he nearly died. Or Police Story 3, where he nearly died.
@@digbyinthedoghouse7455 Yea, true. But in interviews, when asked what the closest he came to dying was, Jackie himself replied the head hole injury he got during the Armor of God tree fall. So yea, it'd be a good one for them to react to. I'd still love to see them react to the Police Story electrical wire slide, which was insane as well, or the Clocktower hang from Project A, same with the building slide in Who Am I?, etc. There's tons of great Jackie stunts ;)
The bank vault chase in F5 is hands down one of the best chase scenes in history and defo the best of the F&F series.
So glad it’s mostly practical. When will filmmakers realise we want realism above CGI.
