My best friend was the person I trusted the most in the world and she dumped me for her first boyfriend bc she decided that "her old life doesn't exist anymore and she doesn't need anyone but him". We were teens back then and to this day, I haven't fully recovered from that. I never formed a deep friendship like that with anyone again bc I felt like that part of me just ceased to exist. Like, forming genuine human connections. I've been doing much better now, 10 years later, but the aftermath of that is still omni-present in some ways. One being that once in a while she'll just pop out of nowhere to get in touch and I never know what she actually wants. I don't like to waste my time and I am planning on telling her later after her newest message.
Thoraya: The last time I was in S.D. last June, there was a similar kind of question display in the Museum of Us. My kids and I all wrote down our respective secrets and I was curious as to whether you had a hand in that.
Even i lost my friendship 2 years ago, i don't think she valued our friendship. I lost a part of me, i don't know why it still hurts this much, she threw away our decade long friendship. I still have trust issues because of that.
There's no point to make something especially secret, it's just that these are things which feel hard for those people and there's no reason to let them out and probably heal a bit.
