I was there watching Bassmage play some matches at Rise N Grind. His SDI is INTENSE. He was mash SDIng ever single opportunity vs every single player he played in pools and friendlies. It was nuts.
I don't remember if you covered it or not, but another Bassmage set that I found particularly impressive was Bassmage vs Yoshidora at Battle of BC 5. Bassmage lost, but he took Yoshidora to game 5 in what many consider to be Puff's worst matchup. Bassmage is really good.
@@ErtM-vh5vs Yoshi is clearly -2 for Puff; even Bassmage himself and other Puffs think so. Shulk can get gimped and edgeguarded; Yoshi can't. Puff can control the air more than Shulk, but not more than Yoshi.
Hi Esam, love the commentary! As someone who doesn't follow tournaments I would watch way more of these videos if you left the outcomes of the sets ambiguous (i.e. without "spoilers") while you analysed them
Yeah, especially given how short Puff is, Gluto wouldn't have been able to get a conversion off of nair or uair without risking getting parried. He instead airdodged thinking that Bassmage was going to bair to catch his landing given that he used his double jump and Bike. If Bassmage was playing more composed, he probably would have recognized this and punished with an fsmash or dsmash. The most Gluto could have done at that point would have been drifting in to land on the platform and hoping that he didn't get potentially hit by bair. Bassmage tried to condition Gluto to swing by empty hopping and then parrying, but Gluto was actually too scared to throw out a move because if he traded, he might have died.
I have a question about Puff. in the week of Steve buff, there was an option select down air out of shield, wouldn't puff be able to footstoool rest, and if the footstool doesn't come out, just air dodge? I have seen m2k experimenting with footstool rest somewhere, so i was wondering if it would work
Jigglypuff seems like one of those characters that you, in theory, should be able to absolutely sweep through without too much inconvenience. But then you see Bassmage and HBox and a few other Puff players, and it's like, "Well shit."
She actually has really good moves, she’s just WAY too light. She definitely needs more weight, it’s ridiculous that she dies at 50. This isn’t melee where you can rest oneshot from 0
Yeah I main puff and the biggest problems are weight (2nd lightest next to pichu,) frame 4 airdodge & auto death shield break (that's just rude) Idk how bass gets in on some zoners bc struggle with that too.
Shield more maybe? And then double down and use characters with good/spammable out of shield options. I hate having to work through that as a semi decent puff player.

Seeing puff succeed as a character is honestly pretty cool with how poor their performance has been in not melee.
And not 64. She was mid tier, but mid tier was still definitely viable in 64. It was only like the bottom 4 that was heavily recommended against using

To be fair, Yoshidora wasn't playing the mu as well as he should have (too aggressive), but you can't ever sleep on Basage, even in a +2 mu.
