David and Sydnie talk about the reasons behind her decision to quit her job and become a full-time entrepreneur. Sydnie clarifies that she quit her job because she wanted to pursue entrepreneurship, not solely because she had money saved. She explains that even when she had the money, she didn't want to keep it for herself but instead wanted to invest it into her business. The conversation then delves into the timing of job quitting periods, with the host suggesting that people tend to quit their jobs when they receive a windfall of money, particularly around tax return season. Sydnie admits that she did quit his job because she had money, acknowledging that having the financial stability allowed her to take the leap into entrepreneurship.

Hi Sir Taurus. I appreciate your comment but would definitely beg to differ. I am confidently being transparent in my struggles and this interview does not say or portray I’m “pretending” to be any other person. I have never been any one but myself nor have I wanted or am I enamored by the “lifestyle” that people display on social media that makes them an “entrepreneur” but, you’re entitled to your opinion based off this very short clip of who I am or what my brand is going to be.

This episode is very special to me because I feel her pain and frustration. Trying to figure things out, etc. it is my sincere prayer that this young lady gets everything GOD has for her and her business. You can tell that she wants it! You can see that she desires it! She like most of us need a little direction and coaching. Through tough love, she’s getting it through David, but she needs it for the journey ahead. Remarkable episode 💯

Dave reminded me of my uncle who would buy suits & gator shoes/boots. He kept pieces in his trunk to sell & would size dudes up then open with "Hey, you look like you're a 42 regular & a sz 11 shoe. Am I right?" (Usually he was right lol) from there he'd proceed to describe the items in his inventory. It was his hustle but he made a lot of money from it because he knew his clientele, his products, & he was okay with being told "no". He knew if he kept showing and talking about his products he would make sales so he talked to anyone who had money and ears.
Sis, tell everybody about your clothes. Every person you encounter knows someone who can benefit from your products if it doesn't help them personally. I am plus sized, so is my sister, so is my bff, and we have friends who are also plus sized. We're out here, we just haven't seen or heard of your clothes yet. Best wishes to you❤

Just because she went back to the job doesn’t make her not an entrepreneur!! She can hop in and out of jobs to fuel her entrepreneurial pursuits and her ultimate dream . Overall the long term dream is to be successful at her entrepreneurships and if she has to go back to her jobs sometimes it is absolutely fine . Good luck to her and I have no doubt she will make a very successful entrepreneur. Please keep going and don’t let anything put you down . It all starts with a vision and you are already there.

Denim isn't the right product, too hard to scale and be profitable. Too many variables and sizes. She's also competing with existing denim companies that already have plus sizes???? She needs a UNIQUE product or service that she can hit a home run with that is scalable. She also has no energy and looks unsure, deep inside she knows that it won't be a success. That's where the block is coming from, her damn common sense knows it won't work and isn't worth more expended energy. Instead of realizing the mistake and pivoting she's stuck in analysis paralysis limbo. Too much of her identity is wrapped up into product, with all the pics of herself on IG. That's why it's so hard to drop it and move to another better idea. If she went on Shark Tank Kevin O'Leary would set her straight. She's smart, but needs a product.

Her pricing is not competitive. What she is offering I can get at Lane Bryant or Torrid on sale/ clearance rack. I am a plus-size woman who can style just about anything, and she needs more direction. Now is not her time to be an entrepreneur. A job making $55,000 is where you need to be. And when you can better market yourself to a corporate business and double your "worth," then I believe you can run a business. You literally have a billion dollar idea but a $50 plan. Learn to hustle!!!!! And that is more than just looking busy, you actually have to make stuff happen. Many blessings to you and your future. 🙏🏾

At 6:14, I wish Black people would STOP claiming titles such as entrepreneur and CEO that don't apply to them. Jamie Diamond is a CEO. Tyler Perry is an entrepreneur. This lady is NOT even a business owner yet. She is currently trying to turn a DREAM or passion into a business. Reality leads to success. Self delusion causes it to be delayed or denied.

When is it ok to step out on faith? Is it a good idea? Or should a person just stick to their day job?

For one, don't just quit your job when you have never made a sale like she did. Usually, when you get too busy with orders or if you have the ACTUAL money to quit your job to focus on is when you see ppl quit.

@@shannonsmiley6436 yes, you’re absolutely right. Definitely test the waters first and have faith that it will work. If was her, I would have had a plan to use the sale money from my home to higher help, such as a business coach and a team and made it work.

@ckells yea...her main issue is she lacks faith and confidence. She liked the idea and the money of being a business owner but not the work of it.

Hello Shannon. I understand that you have your opinions and feelings towards me, my business and people that “quit” their jobs and you’re entitled to that. The first thing I would like to bring to light is I never would have quit my job, God directed me to do that. I was completely happy at my dream company and job like I stated in this video. Secondly, what I learned in quitting my job was not to not quit my job but to create a more concrete plan that would have sustained me. Example, I had a budget of how much I would invest in my company but feel like I should have made that budget less, I should have also focused solely on creating brand awareness and selling West-McCoy denim products to our target customers. I also learned so much more. Also, a 44 minute clip doesn’t give you or anyone the full scope of what I am or am not doing. I have read your comments and would definitely love to encourage you to keep it positive and not combative. Be blessed Miss Shannon.
