I Guess Matt Walsh was hoping that in some point in the movie, Sonic turn to the camera and start insulting LGBT people, for him to make it " GOTY and BASED"
Matt's Walsh's review is mostly aimed at his own audience rather than someone who is actually curious about the movie. That's how he is able to get away with such terrible reviews.
I can understand him not being interested at all in the film and just voiced his views on Twitter and call it a day, but a whole video review? But a little too much effort into it.
Like Logan Thirtyacre, Matt is another one who doesn’t understand how much Love this Movies are made for fans while Disney is baiting us with Nostalgia with Mufasa, but unlike Logan Matt hasn’t seen the Last 2 Movies and has little knowledge about the Sonic Lore, like Noob Saibot said to Havik, this one is a Hypocrite that’s everything wrong with Audiences Nowadays
I mean this is what Matt does. He finds things he doesn't like personally or don't think his children should see and then he tries his very best to eradicate that thing from existence, not caring who gets hurt in the process. If you watch more of his stuff, you'll quickly see he thinks him and his family are the only people who matter in this world and everyone just has to fall in line and act how he wants them to. He's willing to lie, he's willing to hurt and he will do those things to "protect" his kids and himself from anything that makes him sightly uncomfortable.
. . . it's Matt Walsh. When has he ever made a good take on anything? Dude would probably be more inclined to make his kids watch that crappy basketball film he was in (Lady Ballers I think it was called?) than Sonic 3.
What gets me about his claim that the movie is generic cause it uses a laser, despite that being something taken directly from Sa2. Is the fact that a movie's plot doesn't really matter, and I would argue that good characters and understandable motivations are more important. Which Sonic 3 had. The Shadow and Maria stuff you can tell they put a lot of effort into, and you can feel that when watching the movie imo.
Spending any time with your kids to watch a movie shouldn't "break you as a father" unless you see your kids as a burden. I know tons of people who sit through hours of straight up toddler media with their kids and just feel happy that they're spending time with their children and seeing them happy as opposed to feeling like they (the adults) have lost precious time somehow.
I would even argue that this movie comparatively to the first two, has actually toned down some of the childishness. I still believe most people can enjoy the Sonic films regardless of age but Sonic 3 firmly sets itself in the family category the best.
his take about ai making the film can be said about his content. The week before christmas my sister and I went to see it. Because we got there a bit early we spent a bit of time in the arcade taking turns on a claw machine. She wanted a tails plush meanwhile I just went for the shadow plush because it was in the centre. I ended up spending about £5 and remember briefly looking down to check my phone for the time and seeing a black & red blob in the corner of my eye and when I looked up I saw the shadow plush making its way to the prize hole. Then we went to see the film and it was amazing. So many references and the live & learn bit was hyped (tho personally I think it should have fully played through the final act). I'm not an uber sonic fan (but I have played a fair few games with heroes being my all time fave I had it as a kid on the xbox then got a PC copy for my 16th birthday which I still have). Matt clearly is just cashing in on the overall hype and success of the film and doesn't give a shit about the franchise whatsoever hell if all he did was read the plot synopsis of the film from Wikipedia that would be more convincing than the drivel he pumped out
Destroying the world is a formula seen many times in entertainment. But, that’s not why SA2’s story, or this version in the movie is so good. It’s the motive and implications why. Being, a tragedy occurred on the Ark long ago, when there should’ve been such hope to save an innocent, sweet girl. A hope dashed by cruel, selfish humans that destroyed a family, and now the ghost of a madman believes humanity should pay and doesn’t deserve to live. While Shadow tries to find meaning in it all. Because for him, it wasn’t 50 years ago. It was yesterday. The story of SA2 is a bit deeper than that. And gave us a simple, fun film that fans have been waiting for. At least give it a chance.
the guy complained about Jim Carrey dancing, and breaking the fourth wall... I think he doesn't understand he somehow just does not like Jim Carrey. The guy's head would explode if he watched The Mask...
I like how he spends so much more time explaining about how’s he a pro in monopoly than actually reviewing the film. I guarantee he just saw random clips on UA-cam and called it a day.
Overused joke, but screw it: If I had a nickel for the fact that a Spiderman fan that made a video calling out this retard(Matt Walsh), I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's funny it happened twice.
He obviously doesn’t know that Colleen, the voice of Tails, is a professional voice actress who, far as I know, hasn’t done much acting in mainstream Hollywood before the Sonic films… in which she also voice acted in 😂
I watched this guy quite a lot and I have to say he really dropped the ball on this. If you look in the comments of his video, a lot of us who typically watch him regularly had some criticisms about this and thought this was a step too far. First of all, he didn't even really watch the movie. Doesn't even know what Shadow's name is. And clearly didn't see a lot of the underlying themes in it, which are honestly extremely meaningful and I would think he would really appreciate it. He really missed out here. Especially calling Shadow evil cuz he ain't. He's just incredibly upset and misguided after what he went through. Who could blame him? Especially when right after losing his best friend. No one could cut him a break or not abuse him for something that wasn't even his fault. Also putting up a video like this for his kids to see at some point is not a good look and he's probably going to be answering to them for that at some point.
2:46 Yeah, when the number is 3 is in the title, and it's a follow up to two prior movies, you'd think an important thing to do would probably be to get somewhat caught up on the story the movies are telling you, first.
I don't know who that "Matt" is, but I sure won't ever see any of his videos now. Sonic 3 was a great, fun movie. And if, as a critic, he can honestly say "I wasn't tracking the plot" then anything he has to say is of no value. His points are so lacking in any form of substance and even basic humanity; Gerald's revenge motivation hits hard and works wonderfully for the plot. My girlfriend, who is NOT a Sonic fan at all, told me: "Yes, I get it. If they killed my granddaughter I would let the world burn". She understood the pain of a man who was trapped for 50 years with the memory of his most beloved family member. It is not that he was right, it is that it sparks that basic human emotion, that desire for retribution. If he fails to understand it then he should not be reviewing movies at all. Terrible review. Your video captured how bad his video was, good job. Your's was an analysis actually worth watching.
The funniest thing about this review is, in good faith, "Keanu Reeves' performance isn't that compelling" and "the movie flips between too light and too dark too quickly" are legitimate things to dislike about the movie and I get that even though I liked it, it's not for everyone. No movie is But Matt has to make everything he doesn't like into a battle in the moral culture war
He has to realise the Sonic films are based off of already established video games, right? Paramount didn't just pull the idea of a super-fast blue forest critter out of their ass. He didn't see the SEGA logo at the beginning?
Can tell you right now: Nobody should look to Matt Walsh for good, let alone, “objective” takes on pop culture. He honestly needs to take his own advice toward sports and Hollywood celebs: stfu and stay in his lane.
Matt Walsh, if you watch this video and care enough to read the comments, and you read this, I hold respect for you and your opinion *BUT* you do not know the forces you have set into motion, this will be worse than when IGN said that Sonic was never good… all I have to say here is; Dude… uncool
crazy take to say that this movie doesn't respect its audience. for one thing, how would he know? he's not even part of the target audience i.e. sonic fans. for another, the ONE thing about this movie that i've heard nearly everyone agree on, even those who hated it, is that it absolutely DOES respect its audience. i AM part of that audience and i felt more love from this film for the franchise than i have for a long time. hopefully at least his kids were able to enjoy the film even with their dad sneering and scoffing at the screen the whole time.

definitely by disney.
no way he hates Disney for being "woke" and "it's grooming children"
It’s not Matt, it’s AoSTH Robotnik in disguise.
Matt's Walsh's review is mostly aimed at his own audience rather than someone who is actually curious about the movie. That's how he is able to get away with such terrible reviews.
His comment section is cooking him. Not even his viewers are siding with him.
Godzilla fans with doktor skipper: First time?
The anger I had at that man for his video was palpable
I was expecting him to say at the end, “This video is sponsored by Disney. Mufasa is so cool, you should see it.”
I can understand him not being interested at all in the film and just voiced his views on Twitter and call it a day, but a whole video review? But a little too much effort into it.
He's gotta justify his tat checks some how.
Matt Walsh should be on the grift to gain fans back since he lost many during the December Healthcare CEO assassination schism.
Bro made a couple mockumentary type films and thinks he knows what good writing in a children’s movie is 😂😂
Think the fact that this guy dislikes it will cause more people to go see it?
I mean this is what Matt does. He finds things he doesn't like personally or don't think his children should see and then he tries his very best to eradicate that thing from existence, not caring who gets hurt in the process.
If you watch more of his stuff, you'll quickly see he thinks him and his family are the only people who matter in this world and everyone just has to fall in line and act how he wants them to.
He's willing to lie, he's willing to hurt and he will do those things to "protect" his kids and himself from anything that makes him sightly uncomfortable.
Yeah, Sonic 3 is trash huh? Is that why Sonic 4 *IMMEDIATELY* got greenlit after the overwhelming positive reception to it? Cuz it's trash?
He said some shit like "this video doesn't respect its audience" and that was the funniest shit I've heard today
. . . it's Matt Walsh.
Matt you don't understand about Sonic at all and you don't understand about Sonic Movies, you don't understand about Sonic Games at all.
I am 90% sure that Matt Walsh is an industry plant by Disney
How is someone gonna review a movie without even watching it.
7:16
Wow. It’s almost as if this movie is based on a game made NEARLY THIRTY DECADES AGO.
This is the best comment! Very true!
To be fair Matt Walsh didn't know what is a good Movie. He himself made Chip Chilla and Lady Ballers. Not the best "Carrer".
You know it's bad when I skipped over all his sections of the video just to get to your response, it is so painful to sit through lmao
This is the same guy that still says anime is satanic
I would even argue that this movie comparatively to the first two, has actually toned down some of the childishness. I still believe most people can enjoy the Sonic films regardless of age but Sonic 3 firmly sets itself in the family category the best.
I want to buy the Daily Wire and force Matt to do the Eggman lazer room dance.
his take about ai making the film can be said about his content.
Matt clearly is just cashing in on the overall hype and success of the film and doesn't give a shit about the franchise whatsoever hell if all he did was read the plot synopsis of the film from Wikipedia that would be more convincing than the drivel he pumped out
14:09 I know why he would use twitter... he is a millennial. Trust me, that generation is so into it.
It's official: Matt Walsh is the new Irate Gamer! At least Chris Bores is amusing.
He apparently couldn’t handle the rich cinematic experience that was the laser room dance number
I like how he spends so much more time explaining about how’s he a pro in monopoly than actually reviewing the film. I guarantee he just saw random clips on UA-cam and called it a day.
I have seen so much of these oh my god, Matt's not ever having a break for his shitty review, and it's deserved
First guy I seen respond to this video who isn't a spiderman fan.
I mean for real
@@al3x.ander..f3ggit666 this cannot go on, he needs his government assigned Spiderman.

Yeah, when the number is 3 is in the title, and it's a follow up to two prior movies, you'd think an important thing to do would probably be to get somewhat caught up on the story the movies are telling you, first.
No movie is
But Matt has to make everything he doesn't like into a battle in the moral culture war
He has to realise the Sonic films are based off of already established video games, right? Paramount didn't just pull the idea of a super-fast blue forest critter out of their ass. He didn't see the SEGA logo at the beginning?
Damn, Matt Walsh is the recent official enemy of the community isn’t he? This is like… the 4th video I’ve seen dunking on the man’s crappy review.
Who’s gonna tell him that the sonic director worked on shadow the hedgehog game
The hit sequel to the garfield movie lost my faith in humanity video
Keanu killed it as Shadow, I don't know what your talking about
No wonder Brett Cooper left the Dailywire 😂
This guy is giving me vibes that he's trying to make a paragraph and is putting a period on a word to make it longer T-T
Can tell you right now: Nobody should look to Matt Walsh for good, let alone, “objective” takes on pop culture. He honestly needs to take his own advice toward sports and Hollywood celebs: stfu and stay in his lane.
Matt's stuck in the 2010s when it was cool to hate on Sonic for no reason.
Matt Walsh, if you watch this video and care enough to read the comments, and you read this, I hold respect for you and your opinion *BUT* you do not know the forces you have set into motion, this will be worse than when IGN said that Sonic was never good… all I have to say here is;
Dude… uncool
Im convinced Matt Walsh just doesn't like movies at all
Was Walsh high when he watched the film? It would explain so much.
crazy take to say that this movie doesn't respect its audience. for one thing, how would he know? he's not even part of the target audience i.e. sonic fans. for another, the ONE thing about this movie that i've heard nearly everyone agree on, even those who hated it, is that it absolutely DOES respect its audience. i AM part of that audience and i felt more love from this film for the franchise than i have for a long time. hopefully at least his kids were able to enjoy the film even with their dad sneering and scoffing at the screen the whole time.
Calling spending time with your kids a sacrifice is wild
Seeing a right-wing grifter trash Sonic the Hedgehog of all things was not on my bingo card
blue fur and pronouns. end of discussion
BLUE FUR AND PRONOUNS LMAO
I never liked Matt Walsh, but this is the straw that broke the camel’s back. ITS WAR MATT!!!
Okay he could’ve done what I could’ve done when I review a show (or movie)
He criticizes the movie but he talks about the good stuff about the movie or show!
There are two show I like called hazbin hotel and helluva boss and while I like both shows they both have problems!
For hazbin hotel I feel like the story was rushed and the death of two characters (Adam and sir pentous) were unsatisfying
Also 8 episodes for a season isn’t enough (probably need more episodes like 13)
For helluva boss I don’t like Stolas I feel like he eats up all of the show!
Oh he’s such a sad bird “I don’t care”
Oh he misses his daughter “I don’t care”
Oh he loves blitzo “I DON’T CARE!!!”
Despite my problems I love both shows I love the imp characters I love a good chunk of the episodes like “truth seekers” or “western energy”
Hazbin hotel has a AMAZNING soundtrack fun characters and GORGEOUS animation!
Both shows even made me miss the 2000s decade from game consoles like the PS2 and GAMECUBE to the commercials for my favorite soda like sprite and Mountain Dew!
Does anyone remember that one sprite mascot who was this action figure named “miles thirst?”
And the shirts made me think of going to shopping malls as well!
There I did a great job at my review than the PROFESSIONAL MATT WALSH!
The guy went from spreading political misinformation and promoting extreme politics to doing an ass 'review' of Sonic 3,
Matt Walsh cannot stop role-playing as a trash bin 😭😭😭
Matt Walsh and his viewer base are devoid of media literacy and this just reinforces that
Matt ealsh made the am i racist or woman series guys a piece of crap and evidently not very smart at all
Those were pretty good documentaries though
He’s been so desperate for attention ever since those clips of him admitting to being a pdf file
Matt Walsh doesn't even know what a woman is, tracks that he struggles to keep up with a children's film.
So let me get this straight, this guy is not paying attention to the movie, then trash’s on the movie, also if u we’re actually paying attention, u would give actual answers lol
Soon as he said he wasn’t paying attention to the movie, he’s lost all credibility
4:50 then why the hell did you make the review Matt?
I knew nothing about Matt before his terrible review, but just based on it I feel that the guy is a complete *narcissist* who only hates the movie cause it took his kids' attention off of *him* and what *he* wants for about 2 hours and he sees it as this big "sacrifice" he can lord over them. Might not be the case, but that's seriously the vibe he gives off to me.
I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like living with this guy...
