As an EU retired nurse, I had to show proof of income to the local council in the village where I wanted to live. They did not want me to become a burden onto the state for resources. I was also told not to apply for any local jobs, as the jobs were to be for the Sicilians, since jobs were scarce. I received my Italian ID card, along with my health card, within 6 weeks of applying. I waited until after my 90 days before applying. Since I joined an evangelical church, where someone could speak in English, they accompanied me to my appointments and they also had the power of attorney when I purchased my home. Since I am not a Sicilian native speaker, I had to have a person who spoke fluent Sicilian, act as my power of attorney when I purchased my home, nearly 3 years ago. 😊 I received residency based on my EU citizenship. I will be able to apply for Italian citizenship, after being here for a period of time. I did consult with a local attorney when I started the process. 😊
@evelyneliaz, Evelyn, thank you so much for sharing your story and experience with us. That's really quick in the scheme of things. So glad you had some friends to help along the way. What a blessing! We appreciate you watching and adding to the value! 💕 Blessings, ~ Croce & Carol Amato
@@TheSicilianLifeMy residency card has the first address where I lived and rented, until my purchased property was finalized. The local council did not update my card with my new address, once I purchased my new home. I don't know why. 😊
@evelyneliaz, wow, that's interesting. Since we'll be renewing our Italian passports after establishing residency, we'll need the copy of the lease agreement with our new address. I suppose that will take a bit, but I don't think it will be too long. 😊 ~ Carol
@roxythefoxsayfurismurderan3187, well you can say Croce and I are 'contacts,' and let us know what area you'll be in. Sounds like exciting plans! 💕 Blessings, ~ Croce & Carol Amato
I had a Toyota Yaris when I was living in Israel and it was great on mileage! You have to take the ferry or short flight and visit Malta/Gozo, where my parents are from. 😊
@@TheSicilianLife I now own a Maltese poodle from Oklahoma, one stray cat from Israel and have taken in another stray cat that a neighbor no longer wanted, here in San Cataldo. 😃
@TheSicilianLife Having pets can be expensive and restrictive when going abroad. I just paid 1300 euros to have a pet sitter take care of my pets on her farm, when I was in Israel for the month. But the pets give me a sense of purpose. They are lovely to have. With my left over cat food, I feed stray cats who roam the streets as well.
@evelyneliaz, oh, my goodness, that's expensive! Very sweet of you to feed the strays. Yeah, Croce didn't grow up with pets. I always had a dog growing up and really enjoyed having a dog as we were raising our children. Now, though, we are pretty much done with pets because of travel. Hope you have a great week, Evelyn. Thanks for coming by. 😊 ~ Carol Amato

Thank you, Mary! Glad you enjoyed the video. Blessings. ~ Croce & Carol Amato
Great advice. Thank you for the video. I'm away at the moment, so I'm not always on social media. Take care 😊💕

Unfortunately, I still don’t have any contacts in Sicily but hope to make some friends while I’m there in the spring.

Thank you for all the great information. I’m hoping that my wife and I will move to Sicily next year.
@stewwolfe1, That's fantastic! We're excited for you. We appreciate you watching. 😊 Blessings, ~ Croce & Carol Amato
@stewwolfe1 are you a dual citizen? Live there full time? Have you decided on an area?
@ no, I am a retired US citizen. If we pull the trigger, we will apply for the passive income retirement visa.
@stewwolfe1, sounds great! @dianamartin9558, hope you're doing well. 😊
Would be my dream for sure. Great info, and I am glad I ran into this live. Thank you.
@Yes-j6o, yes, it seems dreamlife but can definitely be a reality. You're very welcome. 💚Thanks for coming by. Blessings, ~ Croce & Carol Amato

The police came and checked my residency, once my pets arrived. I had them imported from Israel and i was only renting at that time.
@evelyneliaz, oh, okay ~ well, we have never been so lucky. They have never checked on us. 🤣 What kind of pets do you have? ~ Carol
