Wow !!! Just Great. First watched Pete on the Lawrence Welk Show and when he came through Tampa my Dad took me to see him. We were on the 3rd row and man when hit that first high G the party was on. Never seen anything like. The next time he came through we were invited to visit him and the guys back stage and Pete talk with us for 20 minutes just like we were a couple of old friends. He enjoyed the fact that I was a young clarinet play and he gave me a lot of encouragement. I still perform to this day. Thanks Pete for sharing your life with so many. You were absolutely the Greatest !!!

This is the first time I have ever seen this footage and I love it!! Pete was my hero when I started learning how to play clarinet back in 1962 at the age of 9. Every time I see new film of Pete playing it sends me to be so happy. If there is any more please post it!
    Thanks for making my day!

Pete Fountain was my idol when I was a young lad.
His was magic on the clarinet. I bought each and every album and listened to little else.
Who knows if he was the greatest?
He’s certainly among THE great clarinet players.
When I was a young lad in Toronto and learning clarinet, nothing would do unless I had a crystal mouthpiece a la Pete Fountain.
I saved my pennies for many weeks and ordered it from Whaley Royce, a now defunct music store. ( It was THE store in the 60’s)
It was on my (Selmer RI) clarinet perhaps three times......maybe four.
    And then?
    I dropped it. DROPPED IT!!!!!
As W.C. Fields would say.......GODFREY DANIEL!!
Broke a section off the very tip. I never replaced it.
That episode haunts me to this day........and I’m 73.
But what the heck. I still play the clarinet.

Song is Clarinet Marmalade. Eddie Miller on Tenor Sax and Jack Sperling from Hollywood on drums. Pete played this on the L. Welk Show late 1950's with Lennon Sisters singing - with words the song is called Mr. Clarinet Man.

I saw him when I was about 30 years old in New Orleans. I fell deeply in love with him and his clarinet. I cried all the way through Just a Closer Walk width Thee. My favorite ever since. I listen to him on
Pandora every night before going to sleep. Still love him and it. Thank you for putting this on here.
