The very 1st time I tried arancini was in Sicily, and I was spoiled from that moment on. No other arancini in Canada or even other parts of Italy matched up. That looked delicious. I now also have a craving for a spritz , but of course, it has to be in Italy....LOL. - Coreen

Hello and congratulations on your new full time travel! Michael and Meredith here and we now live in Halifax. I have been following you both since before we moved to Halifax from Toronto last year. We loved this video of Palermo! Especially since we are on our way to Rome tonight for a week and to Palermo next week for a week. Made it to Montreal from Halifax yesterday and hanging out here for the day. Maybe we will see you there! Thanks again to you both. Michael Ciao
Great video as always. How wonderful it all looks. Great vibe. Phew the beach was packed. Thanks for taking me along, the sunshine there looks amazing. Spring is nearly here in Cape Town. Take care.
Hey, we just finished our trip to Palermo like 2 weeks ago. You should definitely visit Catacombe Dei Cappuccini but unfortunately you are not allowed to film there. I was also on a quick hike on Mount Pellegrino, there is a view point on the top with a beautiful view on the sea. Cheers

@@DelightfulTravellers thanks for your reply. I’m going to Istanbul next Tuesday, 2nd time in Turkey. Austria in November. I went to Greece in July and I decided Chania and Paros thanks to your videos. I must say , it was a magnificent choice.
Hi guys, I discovered you through Chris and Carolina (Jumping Places). As a Sicilian (not living there anymore) I'm very proud and delighted you picked Sicily as your starting point. Well done, you had to start from Palermo but if you stay in Sicily go to Erice, the beach of San Vito lo Capo Agrigento and Segesta with the Greek temples in the western side and Mt Etna, Taormina, Catania, Noto, Siracusa, Ragusa (the baroque towns) in the eastern side. When in Puglia (Apulia) don't miss out on Lecce and the beautiful beaches of Salento. Good luck and all the best 👍
Hi guys, very nice video. If you are still around that area, go to Cefalu, it's a lovely town by the sea, it takes about an hour to reach it from Palermo by train .
When you are in Sicily you have to check out Erice, Noto, the Salines of Trapani, the area of Castellamare Del Monte, Sciacca (for Ceramics) + of course the obvious Towns like Taormina, Cefalu, Cefalu Oldtown and so on. One of the most beautiful Islands ever. We have family over there, so we‘ve been there a view times 🌴👍
@@DelightfulTravellers that whole region has been occupied by pretty much the same people for thousands of years, we have a saying with our Italian brothers & sisters: una FACCIA una razza...basically one face one race.... :) enjoy your time there!!
I'm new to watching travel vlogs, but when my sister told me you were starting in Palermo, I had to watch. Good job Anna and Trevor. BTW, I love your name Anna...LOL I was born in Sicily in a small town called Belmonte Mezzagno. It's about 1/2 hour car ride from Palermo. However I've live almost my whole life in USA. The arranine looked so good. That's exactly how we make them. They are served in many restaurants in the U.S. now but they are never as good. It is true that 70% of Italians go on vacation in August. I think the beach you were at is called Mondello (you never mentioned the name) and I have memories of my Italian relatives taking me there whenever I was visiting. Etna,, Enna, Saragusa, Taormina, are just a few most visit cities. If you get a chance, stop in one of the many small villages and you will feel like you stepped back in time (in the best possible way).
Try granita and brioche! That's the quintessential Sicilian snack, you sit in a café, order it, and chat with you companion while you eat brioche and that awesome granita in fancy glasses. It's like a ritual. I advise you to try granita di gelsi, it's amazing and my favourite flavour. Have a great time, I loved it there!
I was born in Palermo! The building at Mondello beach (in the water), is a restaurant, not cafe'; Mondello is always crazy busy, that's why also with public bus you can get also to another beach (bigger), ISOLA DELLE FEMMINE (very close to Palermo); Ke Palle is a great place for variarity of ArancinE, but, Ganci is THE Chain for this kind of food, and it would cost around 1.25$ for piece, not almost 3$; Best of luck!
Puglia is really lovely. Stay in a trulli near Alberobello. We stayed in Martina Franca. We then visited Lecce and stayed in Matera in the Sassi. So many special towns to visit. One I recall is Locorotondo in Bari. Also Ostuni, Otranto and Gallipoli. Enjoy.
New subscriber here! Question: we will be in Puglia (Bari for 2 weeks on business) and then will visit Polignano a Mara + Matera (one night each) and then are thinking of either just staying in Puglia (Ostuni and Otranto) for another 6 days…or taking the 1 hr flight to Palermo and doing 6 nights in Sicily (Palermo - Cefalu - Taormina) with a rental car before flying back to Rome from Catania…should we stay in Puglia or do the Puglia + Sicily route before traveling back to Rome for the final 2 nights? I feel like Sicily may be too hectic and touristy and that we may be leaving a nicer chill area in Puglia…but Sicily seems like a must visit too!
Oh so tough. Sicily is way busier / touristy in general but honestly Cefalu and Taormina are a must see! However, we enjoyed the vibe more in Puglia over all. It was quiet when we were there 🤗 Welcome aboard btw
If you come to Calabria sure you see the bronzes in the Museum in Reggio, then visit Scilla. a beautiful coastal town about 20 minutes from Reggio. Sicily, so much to see and do from Cefalu to Tindari, Taormina, Mount Etna.. etc.. etc.. Enjoy your stay in this fabulous Country. Ciao from across the straight in Calabria!!
Tks for your video. I have lived in Bedford, NS for 7 years…just love Halifax. My husband and I were in Firenze for 3 months in early 2022 and are returning on November 1st for 6 months. We LOVE Italy. While we were there last March we went to Alberobello, Matera and Trani. This was an amazing getaway. In Trani, we stayed at the best B&B and the owners were very welcoming. I strongly recommend it: « La Bella Trani » Enjoy!
Watching have to catch up on your summer travels cause I was busy all summer, with relatives visiting from parts of Canada and couple of weddings.. greetings Trevor and Anna … you must visit little Italy 🇮🇹 🇬🇷🇨🇦in Montréal were I grow up as a Greek from 9 years old..
I spent the last whole month of September in Mondello and it’s a very easy bus trip to and from Palermo, taking the 806 €1.50 (valid for 2 hours) and the bus trip is the most direct way and takes about 12 minutes…good practical tip 🥰👍 btw way you can have a Cappuccino anytime it’s Sicily! Mondello is a very local place and the beach clubs don’t cater to tourists. Be early and it’s about €15 for a beach chair & umbrella per person 😅 There are also open public zones along the beach that are free and you can sit on your towel like Aussies do 🤣👍 I never paid for a beach club space in a month. Not necessary. Enjoy Mondello it’s heaven and much better than staying in Palermo which is noisy, chaotic, dirty and expensive. Mondello is a better location for peace & beach life Sicilian style.
Bah! Not even a disappointing beach day could keep you down in your first video celebrating full time travel! There seems to be plenty of suggestions in the comments section of what to possibly do next in Italy 🇮🇹. BTW, I like the creative intro.
You 've been overly kind with my palermo. Thank you! About the beach, there are many in which you can get a nice spot for yourselves fairly away from other people, but unless a local takes you, there are little chances to get there.
Since you're there, you have to see Etna and probably Stromboli too if you liked Etna. That beach was way too crowded...but the bikinis. Looked much nicer to be in the cafe's if you have the money and the workout schedule to pay for them. First day was a good start overall I would say.
Wow looks great 👍 We will be in Venice and then Rome in 3 weeks. Our first time overseas and looking forward to it, now that we see how it looks. Definitely will try the arancini, thanks for the introduction. Will we need a sweater at night? Can't wait for your next video. Another Haligonia Cheers
Good luck on your full time travel. Suggestions for Sicilia : Catania; Etna (if she isn't rumbling); Siracusa; Ortigia; AGRIGENTO; Taormina. Be sure to see more of Palermo, it's magical. As for the Puglia region - sorry, have only been a few times so shouldn't recommend. And yes, while your pronunciation isn't crash hot yet, I still can't wait for your next instalment. Thank you
One of our fav place to go on holidays we love Sicily esp around Taormina Etna region! If you can go to Bronte and explore Etna get a guide to take you on Etna with a Jeep it’s sensational! You can take a boat to lots of different island in Milazzo! Panarea and Stromboli (yes you can stay on this volcano with its black beach) etc… super lovely places all around these islands with different vibes! Avoid Vulcano really beautiful but the sulfure there is breathtaking literally it will make your skin smells like farts for days trust me I did the swim and mud bath and my god I stank trust me just avoid! Everyone was laughing except me! 😖 Anyway have fun Italy and sicily are spectacular in every way Sabrina 🇫🇷🇬🇧

My grandfather was born in Messina, and I have wonderful memories of Sicily. Make sure you try and avoid most touristy spots for the best experience. If the menu is in English, stay away. Brioche with the sherbet style icecream for breakfast is a must while in Sicily. Real Sicilian ice cream is so icy and not the regular gelato people associate with Italy. If you want a very interesting day trip spot… Castoreale. Even though only about 2500 people live there, they have 80 churches. It is built at the top of a mountain, and with limited space… they built one church on top of another. There is also a Roman amphitheatre with the Mediterranean as the backdrop. Best of all, it really is not a hot spot for tourism. It is named after a castle that was built in the thirteenth century and it was turned into a hostel last I heard. The windy roads up to the town, the history, the food, the views; great for story telling. Also, highly recommend taking the train when you leave Sicily, something magical about being on a heavy train that gets transported by a ferry boat to the tip of the boot. I have a million other suggestions, but these are my top suggestions for now.
@@DelightfulTravellers yeah, it does that. It was bellowing smoke when we arrived but we filmed up there a few days later for a TV show :-). Worth a visit if you can.

I advise you to try granita di gelsi, it's amazing and my favourite flavour. Have a great time, I loved it there!
Trevor your shirt is just fine, great video guy's 🥰🇨🇦
haha thanks! 😎
Was just there in June and Sicily had the best Arancini
Did you always have background music? Think I can do without it but nice to see you out again.
Lots of the time we do yes ✌️- Trevor
I was born in Palermo! The building at Mondello beach (in the water), is a restaurant, not cafe'; Mondello is always crazy busy, that's why also with public bus you can get also to another beach (bigger), ISOLA DELLE FEMMINE (very close to Palermo); Ke Palle is a great place for variarity of ArancinE, but, Ganci is THE Chain for this kind of food, and it would cost around 1.25$ for piece, not almost 3$;
Best of luck!
Hope you enjoyed the video Davide 🤗 - Anna
Puglia is really lovely. Stay in a trulli near Alberobello. We stayed in Martina Franca. We then visited Lecce and stayed in Matera in the Sassi. So many special towns to visit. One I recall is Locorotondo in Bari. Also Ostuni, Otranto and Gallipoli. Enjoy.
Wow thanks for the tips. We will look some of these places up Jeanne 😀 - Trevor
Happy travels you two! Great start to the series! What a fantastic adventure.
Woohoo cheers you guys 🍻- Trevor
Good vibes ❤️
The only and one first thing to do is to discover Palermo with us! ❤
Im glad we were there in May. Europe in August is a nightmare. Still, Italy is my favourite country in the world.
We loved Sicilly. Catania is a great base too. We had a fab time in Palermo.
What a spot right Vera?! There's so much to see.. how do you choose hehe - Anna
I am happy for you guys. Can you please tell me what medical insurance you use for your travels?
We use Safety Wing! - Trevor
Thanks
If you come to Calabria sure you see the bronzes in the Museum in Reggio, then visit Scilla. a beautiful coastal town about 20 minutes from Reggio. Sicily, so much to see and do from Cefalu to Tindari, Taormina, Mount Etna.. etc.. etc.. Enjoy your stay in this fabulous Country. Ciao from across the straight in Calabria!!
Thanks for all these tips Joanna! We appreciate it - Trevor
I strongly recommend it: « La Bella Trani »
Enjoy!
Have so much fun! There's so much to do and see here in this country 🤙 - Trevor
Do not miss Tropea in Calabria and Otranto in Puglia. And, of course Alberobello and the amazing coast around Otranto! Saluti da Svizzera
Looking up these places now.. thank you - Trevor
Enjoy it 🇮🇹
Thanks we will 🤗 - Anna
I love your DR tank top. :)
Haha thanks! - Trevor
I just moved to Sicily from Chicago. I love it here. More relaxing than the states
Congratulations! I will be soon as well. Can't wait.
Great 👍
3€ for an arancina is insane, definitely a lot, thagt cost around 1-1,50€ normally
Travel also to Sardinia.
I’m a Canadian too and a traveller
🤗
Bah! Not even a disappointing beach day could keep you down in your first video celebrating full time travel! There seems to be plenty of suggestions in the comments section of what to possibly do next in Italy 🇮🇹. BTW, I like the creative intro.
So glad you like the intro Colleen.. that took us a bit to create 😉- Trevor
You 've been overly kind with my palermo. Thank you!
About the beach, there are many in which you can get a nice spot for yourselves fairly away from other people, but unless a local takes you, there are little chances to get there.
Are you guys going back to DR ? 😌 Asia Europe very nice but toooo far and very expensive I was interested in the Caribbean DR thanks
That's too bad about the beach! Looks like a solid afternoon nonetheless. Nothing cappuccinos and a few drinks can't fix haha
haha 100% you guys. Was a great day after all - Trevor
So excited you are going to be full time travellers!
Us too! Yay - Anna
Try the negroni spagoletti. It’s made with Campari, but with Prosecco not gin.
Will do.. thanks for the recco - Trevor
Since you're there, you have to see Etna and probably Stromboli too if you liked Etna. That beach was way too crowded...but the bikinis. Looked much nicer to be in the cafe's if you have the money and the workout schedule to pay for them. First day was a good start overall I would say.
It was a great start overall for sure. This city is great 👍 - Trevor
Napoli, old two sicily Kingdom ❤️
Wow looks great 👍
We will be in Venice and then Rome in 3 weeks.
Our first time overseas and looking forward to it, now that we see how it looks.
Definitely will try the arancini, thanks for the introduction.
Will we need a sweater at night?
Can't wait for your next video.
Another Haligonia Cheers
Have such a good time! I don't think a sweater is required but everyone is different 😉- Trevor
Anyway have fun Italy and sicily are spectacular in every way
Sabrina 🇫🇷🇬🇧
Such great tips here! Thank you Sabrina 🤗 Taormina is high on our list - Anna

It’s “via maqueda “ non maquada! (Pronounce makeda) 😅
Go to otranto!!
🤗
A beautiful place to visit in Sicily is Marina di Ragusa
We will look that place up! 🙏- Trevor
Noto! If you are in the Syracuse area of Sicily.
We are so enjoying our time here so far. So much to do and oh the food is the best 🤤- Anna
Ehm it's granita, neither sherbet nor ice cream
are you there during ferragosta ? thats why its busy
No idea what that is? Fill us in - Trevor

@@apntv good to know!
