    I purchased this ruler recently. It is well designed. Deb, I have several of your tools, and I am impressed with your "genius". I did MAKE myself learn how to do these stars with the set in seam. Your method is fast and full proof--all the more so because you provide appropriate measurements to make several star sizes. Because of your multiple sizes, your rulers offer exceptional value over other offerings. I have a Creative Grids 45 diamond ruler, and I found it to be a perfect compliment to your ruler because I could cut the strips very accurately. I would also offer a tip> As a serial gluer, I glue baste my long strips (for a/b) before sewing. Also when I nestle the two strips together I also glue baste. I simply run a piece of glue (I use elmers school glue) perpendicular. I use my iron to make sure my seams are perfectly nested, and the glue baste provides anchors. It pulls apart easily when you have finished cutting. I also glue basted my pieces together to perfectly line up the seams. I also note that glue basting biased edges acts as a stabilizer: itreally help keeping them from expanding. Thank you for your wonderful tools and your informative and straight forward instruction.

    This was a great video especially as you addressed left handed cutting. I appreciated this addition!

    Great video and I love it when someone creates a tool and then shows you how to use it. My favorite part? When kitty jumped up on the table.

    I took this workshop at my guild several years ago. I am finally finishing my project. Thanks for the great video that reminds me precisely how to cut, press & assemble my block. Love your tools!

    At the beginning when you are cutting the "A" and "B" strips, I used the Tucker Trimmer III ruler to cut the 45 degree angle. Using the big dot at the "inch" corner (IE: not the 1/2" corner), I aligned the 45 degree line (the line that cuts the square into 2 triangles) on the left edge of the strips. Then I cut the first 45 degree line on the right side of this ruler making sure I have both of the fabrics included in the first cut. Then I continued using the Tucker Trimmer Ruler (inch side) because it clearly marks the inch size I want. For example, 2" I would align the 45 degree line with newly cut line and match the top of the strips with the width I wanted. I hope this makes sense. I found this an easy method for me.

    Loved the video so much that I ordered the tool and pattern sheet. I also like the why you put the quilt together behind you and have been trying to copy this on my own, was wondering if you have any instructions on what size stars you used to put this quilt together. So far I have miss judged the sizes, getting lots of practice on making the stars but would like some info for this. Thank you for your great videos!

      Hi Nancy, The layout for the project behind Deb is on the back of the Lemoyne Instruction set. There are block sizes listed and how they should go together and then filler strips are shown with measurements so that they can all fit.

    So wonderful that you include instructions for left-handed people - most instructions don’t do that. However, it would be so great if you could film for right-handed (which is, after all, the vast majority of sewers- 85-90% per Google) THEN show the LH instructions. It should be very simple because of all the pieces you have already cut and it would be so much easier for all of us. Right, left, right,left- I’m old and I get confused easily!

      Hi Mimi, I. most of my videos I do try to go with right-handed first and then show left-handed instructions. But I do usually cover them before cutting since if I did left-handed instructions after it can change what they are seeing. Thank you for the feedback.

    When trimming using the tool. Be sure you have a least 3/4 inch all the way around as you will need to trim to 1/2 inch. Otherwise you will lose the point.

    I have a question, Lemoyne star ruler lining up the ruler edge with the stitching line or edge of the ruler raw edge of the strip, which one is correct? technique sheets shown ruler edge line up stitching line.

      @DebTuckersStudio180Design  Рік тому

      We have found that using the stitch line is the best as the edge of the strip might not be straight after pressing and sewing. Also by using the stitching line, you can create the 45-degree angle based on the seam line so that you can get the diamond points to stay at the 45-degree angle. I hope that this helps let me know if you have more questions.
