Thank you for another beautiful reaction to a very wonderful song.❤
Can you believe some people don't like this mature Elvis as much as the 1950s Elvis? I love them both equally. Lots of triple bangers from the 70s.
That idiot John Lennon said Elvis died when he went in the army. What a snob. Did he want Elvis singing Mystery Train in 1972 ? The Beatles certainly changed a lot over their years. John didn't want Elvis to mature because it made John feel old because he idolised him when he was young. Pure selfish reasons.
Elvis voice is much better in the 70s
I'm with you. But, if I was forced to choose, I think I'd lean toward the '70s songs. I'm noticing how the list of Seph's A-ranked songs has been expanding quite a bit recently.
So glad to see someone saying this. I don't understand Elvis fans who pit the earlier vs later Elvis voices against each other. So much to appreciate, all around, in his breakout era, many of his 60s era hits, and so many of his later recordings and performances.
If you look at my Elvis List you will probably see more 60's and 70's in the higher ranks then the 50's.
But someeee of that might be due to me not being a True Elvis Fan back 2 years ago. If you watch some of my older reactions you will find many where i didn't have much to say about Elvis's songs at all. I can't remember exactly when my mind changed and i started to love Elvis but you can definitely see my mood start to change from video to video. I became a mega fan around the time i listened to Bridge over troubled water though. I remember how that made me feel very vividly and watching that back actually brings a tear to my eye.
After 1977 i plan on revisiting a few of his 50s recordings again to give them a second reaction too. As i feel like there's probably a lot that i could have said but didn't!? If that makes sense
Written by my favourite songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, who I saw in concert many times. I met him in Toronto in 2005 after a show and he signed my concert ticket! Great man.
What a song, what a voice.
Triple banger buoy
Soothing, calming, relaxing
Elvis transports you wherever you want to go with his warm voice
where the liquor taste good and the woman all were fast
Sounds like my hometown 😉
I adore this song. It’s so showing instead off telling.
Seph,
This song is actually more sad than you realized.
The character in the song is completely broke. He is not catching a plane to anywhere.
He is at the airport going through memories of better times and better places. He is desperately longing to leave the place and situation that he is currently in and return to one of those "better places" from his memories.
By the end, he decides to stop daydreaming, leave the airport, and walk alone again in the "Early Mornin' Rain".
All the best,
Arthur
ouch.
Thanks for making this clear, Arthur.
Another fabulous song....love it 💯⚡❤️
Love this Gordon Lightfoot cover and Elvis' beautiful vocals. One of my favorites and I think very underrated. ❤
This is a constant in my playlist. Love this song and have for close to 50 years. Top 100 EP song.
The words may move me but its The Elvis voice that sooths me🥰 definitely on my playlist❣
Not heard this version before, but i love it more 🤩
ye, flip side to We Can Make The Morning. What a single to buy, back in the day
Not in the UK or USA in the early 70's -Until It's Time For You To Go was other side of WCMTM'
What a lovely, pensive, lovesick, country/folk song. That walking bass line, finger picked acoustic guitar, and lonesome harmonica, and Elvis' gentle, sad vocals.
It reminds me of a favorite Wilco song "One Sunday Morning (Song for Jane Smiley's Boyfriend)."
"This is how I tell it. Oh, but it's long. One Sunday morning. Oh, one son is gone."

Perfection!! Elvis mesmerizes me as he sings in a soft voice adding in the deep notes with just the right emotions on this very sad song. 😥 ♥
Seph, you can see The Elvis sing this! in the 1973 Aloha From Hawaii insert songs 🎵❤
Another Banger fron "The Elvis!" ❤❤❤❤❤❤!
Yes this is slow, dark, a bit sad and very good.
This is one of several outstanding songs written by Gordon Lightfoot. Elvis really immerses himself into the story & it's one of my all time favorites!
In his later concerts, when Elvis introduced his band members, he always sang a shorter version of this song for the segment with John Wilkinson, rhythm guitarist. I love those moments & wish more of the live versions were longer. Great reaction Seph, A rank indeed!👍
There are alternate lyrics, cold and DAMP as I may be......instead of Drunk. 😄
Fair reaction to a song recorded when Elvis was 'flirting' with folk music. Funny thing is so many reactors talk about his low notes, but back in the day this was not unusual, but male singers seemed to have sung higher and higher through the years.
Wayne Newton? 😂
One of my favourite Elvis tracks 🔥🔥🔥
Oh man! That voice! Yum.
... Someone should pair-up this audio with the Aloha video of this song. It's a winner.
Wow you're on fire lately Seph - another 🌋 - nice song that Elvis sings gorgeously and makes his own - love it 🎧🎤
Yes, this song is catchy and also sad! ELVIS had such a sexy and smooth voice! ❤ I love this song, and i love your reactions!❤
Love me some early morning country. Go Elvis.
I love this song.❤
Seph, love your reactions and you always make me laugh. Except when you make me cry. But the line is "where the women all look fine", not fast. Where in the world is your mind? LOL Love, love this song. Love how Elvis sings it. You know what it reminds me of? In the old days when a down on his luck guy would hitch a ride on a train. But in this song Elvis is drunk, looking up at a plane, wishing he could go home. Great reaction and great ranking.
The line is where the women all were fast, just checked the lyrics online.
I had to look this up to double check what Katie said. and YEP it's 100% fast women xD
My favorite song
So beautiful ❤❤❤❤

You & your Dad are two very lovely & fine gents 💛💎💛💎💛👌
Hope you both are doing well ✨⭐✨⭐✨
Much love 💖💖💖💖
another great Gordon lightfoot cover done better than the original. there a video from aloha from Hawaii done after the concert. banger 2 times
I never cared for the 'extra songs' he did after the concert to fill in the extra time that they didn't anticipate. He was tired after that long show and the songs were mediocre compared to studio version of the same songs. Early Morn Rain is an example of that if you hear both side by side.
I felt Elvis was tired but also he didn't have an audience, which made all the difference in the world.❤
If anyone wants to try version of this from Finland: Rauli Badding Somerjoki did this: Aamu öiseen sateeseen.❤
Seph plz listen to Kentucky rain
Kentucky Rain is the song that got Seph started on this Elvis journey. He fell in love with that voice.❤❤❤
The very first Elvis song i heard all the way through was Kentucky Rain 😍 beautiful song ❤️❤️
Have you reacted to “Snowbird “ yet? Kinda similar but then not … if you get me
ua-cam.com/video/_6Dqn5kp2NQ/v-deo.html
Just for you :D
Agree with your assessment, Seph although I do wish the band wasn't so 'up front' in the song; it almost overpowers Elvis's lower vocals in parts.
This one has never blown me away. I like the sadness it evokes and the laid-back folksy style and I definitely like the studio version better than the live ones. But it's almost background music to me. Almost elevator music. I don't love it.
DEPECHE MODE SO CRUEL
Elvis wasn't lying, he was lonely a lot. just part of being a twin and being separated from your loved ones. His needed family and friends around him all the time. Most of them even lived with him. 'you come to work for me, and I'll take care of all your needs." that's what he told Larry Geller his hair dresser, "Call them right now and tell them you are working for me". That happened all the time. If I had only known. Ha Thanks Sept, pretty tune. ✈🥰 Mary
I love this song and I love the video of him singing it all alone on stage for the inserts into the Aloha From Hawaii special concerts. He is not thinking of performing as much as getting the sound right. It is so interesting and compelling. I love your reaction to this one. Surprise, surprise...I always love your reactions, well, at least 98%.😂❤❤❤ 7:35
❤️❤️
Beautiful country and western song❤ and this men is soooo fucking gooood. Tears tears for this men
His voice has so matured here, I love this so much! Love his vibrato. There’s a live recording of this, a section of songs that were recorded after the Aloha concert in 73. He’s so calming and smooth!
I have all of Elvis' CDs, i.e. all of Elvis' songs, but I haven't listened to them all..I've skipped all the worst movie soundtracks😅
I honestly don't blame you. There's only a handful of veryyyy good songs in there. Like one in 20 😅
@@SephPlays Yes, there are some gems in the movie songs. I listen to them, but most of them are pretty bad.. I usually listen to Elvis' concerts from the 70s
--------- this version is much much better than the Aloha version in 73. The latter he seemed tired when they impromptu pulled him in to another room to record songs to filll the gap of time for the aloha show. Those few songs were all low key. But this studio one has that extra something.
