My dad had one he taught me on starting in 1959. He said it was one of the ones hand made before they started mass producing them. Not sure what year it made. Awesome guitar though. Wish I still had it. My dad recorded with Decca in the 40's, so he had connections.

I've played this guitar a few years back in my local Guitar Center, and I was blown away. The sound was rich, alive, and bright, courtesy of the maple back and sides, and the neck, despite being specified as a rounded shape, it was surprisingly comfortable, which is kind of ironic because I have small hands and am used to thinner necks. Planning to get one this summer.

Gibson makes SJ 200's without the pickup... Usually the ones with Orange labels don't have pick-ups, Search and buy used for a deal. I own 3 SJ200's great guitars..My 2003 (Orange label) has no pickup. It's built to 1950's specs..
your taping audio was off.high and low, no consistant sound
Yep, terrible mic recording. The guitar sounds nothing like that.
This is a superb video. Gorgeous and wonderful guitar, brilliantly explained. Plus you play perfectly - with real skill but in a manner that a regular guitarist won’t find intimidating.
I’ve long jonesed for a Gibson J-50, but damn the bass response in the SJ200 is good and they sure look pretty.

Nice guitar. Good thing it comes with the built-in transducer system. Your Beta 181 microphone is facing the wrong direction and placed directly in front of the sound hole. It would sound boomy even if it wasn't facing away from the guitar.
The microphone mucks up the beautiful tone this guitar produces 😮
There surely is something wrong. Either with the microphone or with the EQ settings behind it.
hello...i recently purchased the AJ200 a month ago(2020). love the guitar and i have many guitars. plays great, sounds great, looks great. feels like the action is a bit high...do u folks or any owners/players recommend a set up? thanks
Setup might be the best way to go. You can get it done at most music shop just call ahead. We offer setups also (:

How much the price of that guitar
It may be just me but I really dislike acoustic guitar pick ups, especially piezoelectric. To me they sound very fizzy in a very unpleasant way (unwanted bubbles in the sound). Do any Gibson J200s come without any on board electronics?
mic was much quieter than pickup, muddy. but that guitar sounds great with the anthem. I want a sj 200, next guitar on my list, either that or the taylor dreadnought limited baritone that just came out!
Can you get an ebony fret-board?
I have a j45 standard. I love it. So when I say this, I'm not a gibson hater. These are the ugliest guitars ever made

dang try Gibs On J-200 they are indeed more challenging than Les Pauls indeed this is Elvis guitar its worth as much as your dentist appointment in USA lol it is indeed 5 grand at least
sounds terrible on that Sure mic...the pickups sound pretty darn nice, though. Love the clear bass on these things. Think I might want the true vintage or whatever they are called a little better.
Love the guitar. Anthem sounds considerably more undersaddle than microphone. I'll take the lyric any day.
Steve Tool I wi see what settings were used on the anthem. Sounds much better than that when I played with one.

I bought a brand new SJ200 in 2016 in nashville shipped from gibson. Neck wasnt originally set properly in the guitar at the montana factory. Gibson's nashville tech accused me of buying a fake. Go figure.

The Gibson SJ-200 may well be the greatet acoustic guitar ever made, but I've heard plenty of other guitars which sounded better to my ears.Like the martin OOO-45 and D-45 for example. It's all so subjective.
At the tender age of 50 I’m finally in a position to treat myself to a guitar of this quality,I’ll regret it if I don’t do it.

Such a beautiful guitar but i think i like the hummingbird a little better but that probably has a lot to do with my limited budget, either way what an awesome guitar.

In my opinion it’s the Jeep Wrangler of guitars. It’s sexy, beautiful, but could very possibly end up being a lemon and is way, waaaaaay overpriced because they know people will pay for it because of its history and it’s a status symbol.
