Best solution stacks of cardboard circles to cover the top layer of dirt. Fully sealing the top can lead to weird smells 4-the compost can be soaked in water to make “worm tea” and excellent liquid fertilizer
if your makings worm tea with it anyway why not put water in the bottom bucket that the compost falls into the water evaporating will rise and probably condense into the compost just a theory haven't tested it out

Don't forget your "worm tea" should be aerated for the best results. That's how you keep the good bacteria alive and thriving otherwise it's not the best it could be. Any pet store would have something mainly for fish but the same exact concept.
The nasty liquid that collects in the bottom layer smells like hell but it's like plant crack. If you have a veggie garden you'll notice a huge difference if you add some to the roots when you water

I may actually do this as a protein supplement for my chickens rather than the fly idea others have. The fly idea isn't bad if you live on large acerage where you can place the system away from neighbors. This idea is perfect for being close to neighbors. Compost is always a plus.
I put an open bottom in-ground worm farm in my garden bed, just open the lid and chuck scraps in. The worms move the material out of the tub themselves, my passionfruit next to it is super healthy. And then when planting my tomatos, bok choy and capsicum I just scoop some out of the bottom to line the bottom of the hole before the plant goes in. Much less effort than this system, but you don't get to use the worm juice where and when you want.
you can also wash down some water to encourage the worms to move up into the above container and use the "Worm tea" from the bottom as liquid compost or as an ingredient in Garden Tea.
this is minecraft levels of self sustaining. I love these systems you guys are sharing.
