I love how unconditional the federation is about protecting life and people. Even after being turned away by the people of earth and forced to reside planetless in space, the Federation rushes to the aid of Earth when it becomes endangered. No wonder Earth was so willing to rejoin after such an unconditional display of comradery.

The idea to have a station be warp capable is a really smart thing to do in light of the burn. With most stations destroyed when the burn hit it would make sense to build stations close to home and have them warp to their destination with crew already on board instead of wasting dilithium and what few ships they had shuffling materials to and from the station site. Really well done world building

@@korpiz You don't understand the scope of the Destruction the ship or star base, did not have to be in warp remember the warp core or power generation of a starbase (would assume dilithun been used) is always active even when it's idle providing primary power to ship systems (its not off)
only power cores/warp cores that was actually off (no matter/antimatter running) and was running on Alternative power like fusion power or other non dilithun and based power generators did not explode
when the dilithun became Inert it was basically a rock pumping antimatter into it resulting in matter/antimatter Explosion instantly
unfortunately ships and stations don't have or unable to contain it with shields
even if they could that type of system would only be active for an expected Explosion due to the power Draw to maintain a shield of that type even then it would have to be a directional shield where the blast is directed outside of the ship as there's no way you could contain an explosion like that (it would permanently disable the ship but only people in Engineering would die if they was inside the explosion containment shield)
As far as i am aware this may have been universe's wide as it was not explained if there was a limit on how far the destruction when he screamed

IMO, if ANYONE was going to be the sole believer of the four founding races, it very well SHOULD have been Earth and not Tellar.
For god’s sake Humans brought the other three together in peace where before they were neutral at best with each other.
I give crap to fans who give Discovery hate for no reason. But in this instance, I agree with the Fans. Terrible idea by the writers to make Earth leave the Federation.
Although, I do have to laugh at the fact that for all the talk of Earth being the sole thing that is keeping the Federation from being Crippled, earth left the Federation and yet said Federation was not crippled in the way that it was through the burn.

If you took the time to notice, it's shaped that way to achieve maximum warp efficiency, as those little spring looking parts are shaped similarly to the warp field itself. It's also useful for creating better shields too.
Also notice that if you spin the ship in circles very quickly, it can provide some cover over the HQ body.

    • @nobody-wk6ej

@@10054 Incorrect. Voyager already solved that with the variable-geometry warp nacelles a thousand years earlier. They didn't need spindles or whatever this is. As for the station itself, the existence of shields negates any need for rotating protection. It was never needed before. Definitely don't need it a millenia in the future.
Its just an ugly design. Swing and a miss. Sometimes it happens in Star Trek. We peaked at the Sovereign Class as far as good looking Trek designs go. Moving on.

Have you seen modern media, it's all this new crop of the low-rent writers know.
It's also all studios will fund, as it may be trash but they know it will work on enough people to get multiple seasons out of a project.
Basically, the Hollywood system is geared to trash. Always has been. Something good slips through the cracks every now and then, but studios have become so risk averse because of the instant feedback of social media that now they almost always "play it safe".
So, that's why we get endless dramas and police procedurals (though thise have become "risky" lately as well because American Cops are generally assholes)

Hence their universl use. But I gather you have a different story element and scene in mind in place of this. Lay it out for us.
