    Still a great demonstration, after all this time! Like one of your other fans, I haven't worked on a drum brake in 35 years, until today... Your video was, by far, the best! A certain, un-named auto-parts company should be very embarrassed with their video, by comparison!

    Should the hand brake function to be adjusted - in the past there was always a small hole from outside, now it would be some more effort?

    Do you know when rear brake shoes should be inspected and cleaned?For example the spark plugs or the air filter should be replaced every 30000km and the brake fluid should be replaced every 4 years/120000km.Is there any interval for rear brakes?And generally,how many kilometers they last?A friend has a 2003 1.2 16V model with 90000km and the last time that brake shoes were inspected and cleaned was at about 65000km.

    • @TheDutchGarage
      @TheDutchGarage  2 роки тому

      I don't know the interval. Rear brakes replacement isn't that common, but if you never check them. Maybe now is a good time to do it.

    • @dimitrispapas9788
      @dimitrispapas9788 2 роки тому

      @@TheDutchGarage Thank you very much!In fact,as I just learned from my friend who owns this vehicle,the manual says that they should be cleaned and inspected every 60000km whilst a mechanic who used to work for many years at Renault garages told him that they should be cleaned and inspected every 30000km.You are right about the replacement,is not that common.So I believe if they are checked every 30000 or 60000km there won't be any problem!

    How can a car have powerful 280mm abs driven rotors on the front and dirty drums on the rear. -__-

    • @TheDutchGarage
      @TheDutchGarage  6 років тому +2

      The most braking is on the front side of the car. that why for the most cars drums in the back are more then enough to help it stop. But some of these cars had disks at the back. Just not this one.

  • @matingeddes8151
    @matingeddes8151 5 років тому

    listen mate dont do any more brake drums, any car u have worked on must have the front end smashed in by rolling down a hill when handbrake on. Hand shoes are not used by competent people!!!!. thanks for this hillarious video!!!

      @@TheDutchGarage I never learned to work on them but I had to change the brakes of my sister's car. I had to reassemble them my self and took the old adjuster and transferred them. Damn that was a nut job. At first I did not understand the mechanism and even forgot to widen them a bit. I had to reopen them, disassemble them and start almost all over again. It worked. Her garage was going to as her 500 euro...fucking bastards. Manufacturers should stop putting these kind of brakes on cars. It is just not worth the hassle.

    • @TheDutchGarage
