Great job!
Nice.
No shortcuts. No gimmicks. These videos have been some of the most informative and in-depth I've seen. Thanks for sharing all your hard work with us!
No gimmicks no short cuts this Man is ripped
No gimmicks no short cuts your likes are cursed
My brother in Christ, this video is 40 minutes long.
@@anzuis7 No short cuts.
Have you ever thought of a job at kissing ass you would be amazing 😊
Seeing electroplating explained, even as an Electronics engineer, makes it easy to understand why people thought there was magic back in the day.
it looks magical
Didn't they use the Bagdad battery for such purpose?
This man is a giga chad. Absolutely ripped and smart as hell
He explains that he uses his spare time like when waiting for 3d printing, plasma cutting, and other long processes to either workout at home or learn programs such as blender and fusion 360

YOU SIR are one of the few UA-camrs who’s video’s always amaze me! I’m always checking to see if you’ve posted something new, but the wait is worth it!
"If you're serious about learning this technology, I recommend this book, which I just finished writing..."
Good job bro. You did the trial and error so that we didn't have to and you wrote what you found out for us to learn. You _earned_ that self promotion.
i love how much better alex's english is getting, its impressive enough that he films 90% of his video in english, but its been cool hearing how much he has improved.
also these videos are great, i always look forward to them.
With a homemade plasma vapor deposition chamber in theory you could alternate between dissimilar metals or ceramics to build many layers to strengthen plastic .
aluminum and titanium or aluminum and aluminum oxide. the latter would be easier
@@joshuagoff7878 good point - aluminum oxide is tough as hell
I don't know, I've seen some "home made" and They are small and not as easy to setup as an electroforesis bath. Nikel coating as original plan looks to me more "doable"
The Thought emporium made their own small one on their channel. Super interesting seeing the process.
@@gentiligiuliano7882 vacume chamber - are easy to make out of lexon or acrylic and the vapor deposition concept is easy enuff . two magnets one that fits inside other and pulsed high voltage dc from welder works those 120 $ ones .
Man the kind of engineering your into simply tugs at my heart knowing there are atleast a few like minded ppl of this caliber out here.. keep up the inspiring work.
What if Alex was able to partner with Displate and use some of his blueprints? I would buy all of them!

Time! Give it time and please don't be disheartened. This video for sure will be useful to so many engineering students down the line. Also, the algorithm has not been favourable to you, I know, from previous updates. I am so thankful for you and your attitude, not just the iron man suit. Without someone to make me feel bad about how lazy I am, I would have no reason to become any better!
You don't understand how happy I am to see a new uploaded video from you Alex. You have been working so hard and it is insanely impressive how knowledgeable you are at understanding all of this! Your efforts and your work are greatly appreciated and enjoyed! Thank you!!!
WOOO Love your vids man, I binged them all a few months back and so stoked to see another so soon. Hell yeah!
Я тут был ( оставлю на память)
@@gglopata2450 Yes, those are words.
Personally, I’m excited to meet Copper-Man!
Probably the best “electroplating for beginners” video on the internet haha. Could you further electroplate layers of harder, more impermeable metals?
It would be nice as it's an Iron man suit an Iron electroplating. I know it could be done but I can't find reaction conditions to do it
You can add other metals to it yes. However every metal needs its own version of the solution. The chemicals in the solution are designed to bond and then transport them from electrode to plate. You can coat the copper with tin and get a bronze etc.. but each metal needs a particular solution for best results. Many jewelers use nickel, silver and gold in layers. All 3 are a different solution.
Didn't he mention chrome and nickel?
@@user-mt1qi4vd1z nikel for sure. Chrome seems to be annoying to plate at home. Doable probably but not easy.
As rogwabbit says, you'd nee different solutions, but once the first layer of copper is down than it becomes far easier to lay over since copper is more conductive than graphite powder.
Hats off to you. Having tried this for a small project a couple of years ago I can tell everyone, this is an insane amount of work! Also it doesn't allways work perfectly or at the first try. Awesome work in showing all the steps and details!
This person is smashing all the UA-cam competition easily, so much effort so many results the lessons he teaches the camera movements...it's perfect and ridiculously thought provoking.
Absolutely beautiful work in not only the designing and manufacturing, but in the scripting and videography as well
Please upload soon, we all want to know if you are safe and if youre okay. :( the world is heated right now
When will the hacksmith swallow his pride and finally Collab with this man!?
Man, you're easily one of my biggest inspirations to become an engineer and begin making mechanisms and understanding electronics and technology! God bless you man, and keep cranking out these awesome vids!
This video was definitely worth the wait! I love how he explained it thoroughly then simplified it for those of us who don't necessarily understand it all yet. Thanks Alex!
Watching this gives me a new respect for scientists. I knew there was trial and error but dang. And I appreciate how you find ways to correct errors instead of starting from the beginning. Amazing channel
I love your attention to detail in all the work you do! UA-cam is full of shallow clickbait, but you have some genuinely ingenious ideas.
one of my favorite backyard engineer, i've watched your builds for a couple years and hope to keep watching more come out for years to come. you are charismatic and i enjoy the digestible information of your videos.
I wish Alex would upload more his content is so unique and entertaining!
you deserve a job at a hollywood movie props department or something, your breadth and depth of knowledge in machining, chemistry, and electronics is incredible
Guys cmon lets really support him, its only a few dollars a month. If you truly like this content and want to see him do this the way no other person has really done it then lets help him get there
You are without a shadow of a doubt the most dedicated UA-camr and one of the hardest-working human beings I have ever witnessed. You have my utmost respect. Truly incredible work and overcoming of obstacles. Nothing can stop you! The mark of a true inventor and superhero!
Deadass facts B mad facts
Alex, you never fail to impress me with your drive, humor, genius, and pull-up form. Rock On brother
I hope you are okay with everything going on in the world! Stay safe. Never quit what you are doing on UA-cam! It’s easy for people to paint Russians in a bad light right now, so keep showing the the world that a county’s leadership is not always a reflection of its people!
Yes, just because Russia is invading Ukraine doen't mean all russians are bad. There are of course some group of russians protesting for the invasion. And there's this guy inventing cool stuffs
+
I don't think he has access to UA-cam anymore. Didn't they do a full censorship of all media and websites?
Dwight Shrute looks like he highlighted your comment, so maybe not (or it might be somebody else doing it if he has an international team). Either way, lets hope he is keeping a low profile and staying safe.
I was wondering the same thing!
love the accuracy of your work and how you showed us how you did it. can't what to see another video
Alex lab is probably gonna be the first person to make a full iron man suit with all the different stuff that one has because literally no one has gotten to this point yet the repulsor’s are on point he had literally made a reactor and has made the muscle he has a helmet and some other armor pieces all you gotta do now is put armor, make it bulletproof and make it fly. Maybe you could even add the extra thrusters and the guns and stuff but that not the main thing anyways. Well i’m rooting on you Alex labs. I’m a fan of your work and I’ve always wanted to be a engineer it’s my dream so your my inspiration. So do your best on your work
And he made the exosuit and muscles
Hell yes finally!! It's good seeing you again Alex!!
This guy literally wrote the book on electroplating… amazing
10:00
If you use ABS you can just smoothen the part with acetone which will make the part look like a resin 3d print.
This is stuff that could easily be put behind paywalls, schooling, etc. A great comprehensive dive into the entire process, I genuinely wish many more creators were more like you!
This video in its entirety is a gem. I'll definitely be using this method in the future. Thank you Alex
I love your videos. I always feel a surge of excitement when I see that you have posted something, and I can’t wait to see what awesome thing you’ve done now. Great job, keep it up!
He is so close to creating a real iron man suit he might be the future iron man
Amazing, I didn't know this process could create such thick layers. Can't wait for the next one!
Stay safe Alex ❤️ we know you are a good guy, and we hope you remain safe from this evil.
As of right now i am only halfway through the video but i honestly have to say awesome job man. Love how effective you relay the information to the audience but still keep the entertainment needed to keep our attention. Again i must say awesome job on the video and the whole project. I am loving how it is coming along and keep up the great work.
Thanks for the deep dive on electroplating. I enjoyed every second of your video!
the amount of respect to you is unspeakable sir. this is pure engineering. pure talented, hardwork and time used by you sir. keep it up !

Tony stark would be proud bro and u are doing what i always dreamt since a kid ,may u have the best
You're a legend. If I can make content that is even half as high quality as this I would be ecstatic.
I subscribed to your channel because you are having the work of doing it, but you still teach others you are to be congratulated Alex
Not sure how I just found this channel but as a fellow CAD/product designer I am LOVING this!
You have no idea how much I look forward to seeing you progress. I am honestly thrilled to see where this goes (and if we get a new superhero). Keep up the great work!
¡Bravo!
This suit is going to be worth a lot of money with all the details you are working with, good job man!

It's great to see you back
And the wait is over! It was worth it! Very descriptive video Alex Lab. Great work
This is amazing I really enjoyed the video and also appreciate your efforts.
Worth the wait.
I think that with Tony Stark's budget you would already have done a flyable iron man nanosuit. I cant believe my eyes or my brain for such passion and inteligence this is pure talent and genius !! Completely amazed by your work and your fitness level
SO WORTH THE WAIT :)
Давно так меня Ютуб не удивлял ! Спасибо большое ! Все эксперименты insane !!!!
Awesome! As a tip, soaking the plastic parts in saturated KOH will nano-etch them, and cause way better bonding of graphite varnish to the surface. There is actually a method that just uses the KOH without graphite to cause the surface to accept metal plating too.
Just checking - Potassium hydroxide?
@@2001herne yes, it's an excellent etchant for most plastics. It's often used as an etchant for electroless nickel plating. You can also use sodium hydroxide in theory, but it's not used as much commercially.
That means that theoretically you could create a metal alloy using electroplating.
This is truly genius!
Алекс, это просто нечто! Вдохновляет !
You are soooo under rated. You should have over a million sibscribers man. Saw the first video a while back but never subscribed or watched any others. I watched a second video recently and decided I need to watch the rest of your stuff. First of all to learn and second of all to support. Going to recommend you to all my friends and hope that your channel grows!!
The drawings and sketches look amazing. And obviously the project itself does too. New sub from me
I really hope all is well with you considering the current state of the world. Much appreciation for all the amazing videos.
Саш, ну ты прям гордость страны!
Аж мурашки..
Absolutely mind blowing! No other words for it! Keep it up and I can’t wait to see more videos like this!
Great video. The problem I see to this method is that thicker the copper coverage is bigger is detail loss (that means more post processing efforts) . When seing it it came to my mind one idea to obtain detailed weldable copper parts. As most of your parts are shell-like, why not 3dprinting a mold and electroform the inner part with copper? you should be able to obtain this way full thickness copper part, the esternal part will be the one in contact to the mold and could be separated simply heating the part itself, and you should have really good reproduction of the mold itself on external part while the inner par of the mold will have loss of detail (but that seeems a good trade off to me) .
This is so cool. You're one talented, Brilliant guy. I respect what you do and how well you do it. You have quickly become one of my favorite channels to watch. I cant wait to see when you're finished. Are you going to turn it chrome, silver or nickel next?
I'm glad you're back!
Absolutely phenomenal work sir. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with this - I've had mixed results when doing this myself over the years, so seeing how you overcame some challenge is extremely helpful!! Thank you
