Russ, you should come back the week of Christmas to New Years . During that time about 30,000 RVers will be here camped in the desert. The little town of Glamis turns into a wild place. Also on the Yuma side the same thing,
From the Outlook where you're parked you can dune all the way South, over the 8 and up to the border monuments. Dune season is October 1st through April 15th.
I'm a teacher in Brawley...when I was a lot younger we'd go out to Glamis on the weekends. When I retire in 5 years, I want to do what you do. I'm watching your videos, saving $, and planning for it! Thanks for the video! Oh, and all of those white specks that you keep washing off your windshield are probably White Flies! Every year they show up en masse and just drive us crazy!
Wow, that's somewhere I haven't been for a while. We used to go to Glamis and the Imperial Dunes Complex every winter with all the toys, bolt on the paddle tires and have a time of it. Great fun with awesome people. The tractors are "smoothing out" what we used to call the "Sand Highway". One of the main trails to get around in the dunes. Eventually, we switched to the water after circumstances said no more off-road toys and now we are back on the land with our Trailmanor. No off-road toys though. Life is an adventure. Live what it deals you the best you can. Thanks for taking the time to make the trip. Gives me and any other desert rats out there a look back in time. Safe travels.
It's been almost 20 years now since I moved back to Ohio from Yuma. I always miss it in the winter months but after watching this video I really miss the dunes almost as much as the warm weather. Right now it's 22 degrees with the wind chill hovering right around zero. Meanwhile it's probably at least 80+ in Yuma. I'm about ready to become one of those nasty snowbirds.
My uncle used to buy fiberglass bodied dune buggy kits, assemble them and sell them for extra cash. His neighbors hated the racket those vehicles made when he took the finished products for test drives.
its interesting that this is the boarder because it is a natural boarder you can see why this is the location in order to defend the state great video cheers
Hey Russ, i spent a few days in Glamis after slab city, 1200 horse rails just rippin it up. Had to take my littlest snauzer to that vet in Blythe. Just Perfect, V MAN
You picked a good day to stop at that overlook. Google satellite view shows it covered with sand. I guess that guy you saw just swept it clean. I live a few hours from there. Maybe I will get over there sometime this winter. Thing is, it will no doubt be crowded with 'snowbirders' as we call them in Arizona.
Excellent detail! Thank you!. If the RTR is in CALIFORNIA I will not spend any money their SANCTUARY STATE! their poisoning, endangering our COUNTRY. Ileagles are raising my school tax, welfare etc. We are a country of LAWS!
Russ, you need to go check out the Great Sand Dunes National Park, out there by Alamosa Colorado, there are some that are close to 900 feet high, very impressive! I like these also in your video, keep up the great work!
Howdy. I sure have been getting a lot of SUV ads on the videos. Have you noticed that the ads don’t tell you anything about the vehicle. It is all “touchy feely “ stuff. It is amazing where people end up settling.
Spent a many of fall/winters visiting there. We take our quads out there. Plenty of places to boondock. The cool thing is you go out for a ride one day and have a wind storm come through and the dunes look completely different the next.
Thanks for going out of your way to show the sand dunes. Happy droning.

Brother in law and family used to take their sand rails to the dunes outside Yuma.
Sand Dunes! Amazing!!! Thank you for sharing!
Awesome drone footage of the Dune's and what a nice day to visit them. Enjoyed the drive. Thanks! But most of all safe travels.
Hi Russ! Thanks for showing us the dunes! That is so interesting how the sand dunes are formed. Safe travels!
Russ, the dunes were fabulous! Nature does the most beautiful artwork. Thanks for very interesting videos. 💔
The patterns made by the wind are really beautiful.
I used to spend just about every weekend out there and the winner
The season doesn't start until October. We camp on the flat areas and ride in the dunes. The Osborne overlook is just a stop to oversee the dunes.

Have not been to these sand dunes; stunning shots of them with the drone. Thank you for taking us.
I was out there last year. Look om my "Slab City Niland" playlist. A great video of the Dunes day and night is on it.
its interesting that this is the boarder because it is a natural boarder you can see why this is the location in order to defend the state great video cheers
These dunes are awesome, first time for me to see Thank-you

Love the sand dunes
You are right back out on the road again! Keep rolling my friend:-)
We’ve been there once; looking forward to going again 😊. Thank you for the bird’s eye view of some beautifully formed dunes!
Very nice thank you for sharing!

Possum Lodge I believe it’s in Arizona
Went that way after Quartzsite show on our way to Fountain of Youth Hot Springs on east side of Salton Sea. Very windy with blowing sand. 😷

I'll be headed their this winter to ride the dunes for the first time
flat 4 Load up on water & conserve - no Banana Boys like there is at Pismo (to fill your tanks & empty your waste). Watch out for witch eyes 🤓👍🏼
At 7:45 that looked like an old airstrip next to the road.
The Salton Sea was created by the Colorado River flooding in 1905 it never dried out it just continue to get saltier
Good vid Russ, you know it has to be a scorcher out on them dunes.
The sand-duns. Looks great. Enjoy your journey. Be safe. 👍☕️🍩

🙋Hello Russ! Was that haze or fog looking at that mountain in the back ground? (1st drone footage). The designs of the dunes change with the wind.
So cool the land you see so Awesome
Next time your up here in Oregon I'll give you a buggy ride..
Amazing!
Hey there, very nice. Have you had any trouble out of your Ford van? It seems to be serving you well.
Always, always lock up or bring in your stuff when camping on Gecko rd.. Thieves galore and at any time.

Awesome!!
All of your videos are brilliant.
Don't you worry about breaking down in the middle of nowhere Russ? What do people do in America when that happens?
Heading back to quartzite the slowwww way
The next slept is my old camping ground
👋😊
