compressjpeg.com/ if you want to compress your files even more, here is a compress site. There is a lost in quality, it looks a little blurry, but not horrible, if you need the really need smaller files.

@@azeeramon You don't have to do it the way I did. You can draw file by file. The reason I do it this way Is because it allows me to see the entire episode in a single view. I can see if there is a good mixture of camera angles, panel size, compositions, etc.

Glad they're helping. A congrats on getting closer to the finish line. I know what you mean. I sometimes get more stressed when I am about to complete a project, there's a lot of emotions going on and it can be draining. Good luck!
Hopefully this will help with your uploads. Like I said in the video, this is just my opinion on panel sizing. Would love to hear your thoughts on optimal sizes.

Thank you for this!!! My story is called “Black out” its my first webtoon. It’s about An orphan named Avari Legend discovers hes the spawn of a Alien Queen who has plans to invade Earth by infecting its children & using them as an army, But first she must kill Avari & retrieve the POWERFUL & DEADLY ability she unintentionally passed down to him called “The Shadow” a dark entity that causes him to black out & gorge on human flesh whenever he goes hungry for too long.

No problem, I know how easy it is to forget the rules sometimes. It's a ton to try to remember, especially when you got comic on the brains.
@@walterostlie yes and just used 72 dpi instead, it adds to the challenge to think of budgeting your files as well
the webtoon creator of Lets PLay, Mongi, made a Photoshop script that would automatically cut your webtoon to upload, Idk if it would work for ClipStudio but its a really cool trick and saves a lot of time!
Oh cool. I am actually real surprised by the amount of creators that don't use photoshop. it was all I knew for a very long time. But it makes sense, PS is really expensive. A lot of people seem to use Krita. The guy who invented Croppy is damn hero.

Size matters... Well yes, It doesn't matter so much when you're talking offline environment, but in online, things get complicated fast... Well again, it's not really actually, but if readers get inconvenienced and then gets angry with the platform, they may not come back and move on to other platform.
There are various devices with different display size and resolution and display format/ratio (and then two orientations) and then processing capability and RAM. We also must think about internet speed and bandwith. Not everyone use unlimited data plan, so having a huge size per episode is going to piss off lots of people. Not to mention if they load (or failed to load) a huge page, only then (for some reason) have to reload that page again.
So having webtoon to limit 20MB per episode is quite understandable. It's to limit the creator from going too crazy since not all comic creators tech-savvy or understand the condition from client/reader side.

another thing you can do is go to a jpg/png compressor website, and it’ll compress all your files to save more space! but this might slightly reduce the quality of your panels, so be careful with that
Yeah, I wonder. I'd assume croppy would be compressing them as much as possible. So what would happen if it went through another compression? Lower quality or would it just not change at all.
So should I make the panels 800 x 500? Also I've only been able to post 42 panels when using the 800 x 1280 format
I like 500-700px, bigger than that it starts getting a little too big to see the entire image, so you're seeing the art in sections, which isn't always enjoyable unless that's the idea, like reveals and accelerations.

I would like to add more to this so that future creators won't fall in the same loophole as I did. Avoid static or any type of screentones, those take up so much space that jpg files can't handle. This goes for textured drawings as well. I had to withdraw from the contest because of this fact.
Still debating on starting a new one from scratch.
Can you go into your current comic and removed the screentones and replace with solid grey? I'm surprised though that your files are too big. How big are your files currently and how many do you have per episode?
@@walterostlieWell it's difficult to go back and change everything when the episode was made out of screentones. I was looking for a certain mood while creating it. It was my 1st time working with screentones, and I thought it would have the opposite effect. I'm trying out the compressing website you recommend and I'll avoid screentones for future episodes.
@@walterostlie although I am guilty of going all out putting splash pages after splash pages. I've learned my lesson. I guess I was too excited working on my 1st webtoon.

Yeah, hopefully. It's a problem I never thought about because I usually try to keep my episodes short since it's less work ;-)
I really want to publish my comic but the point is that i don't want to buy all the digital materials right now so i draw with my fingers on my phone which doesn't give the results i want but i want to buy the digital tablets and stuff once i publish and have enough hope that my webtoon is liked by some people, can you give me some tips on how to draw well on mobile phone?

Glad this video help. Drawing on your phone has got to be tricky. I never really draw much on a phone, but keeping the art style more simple would make things easier and faster. Otherwise, I think just have a lot of patience. Good luck.
hand draw them on paper & scan them in with your phone camera!
Sigh.... I'm just realising that my pages are 232 for my first chapter.... And there's no way in hell I'd be able to compress these without completely murdering the quality into 20mb limit.

What free application do you recommend to make webtoon besides paid clip studio panit?
Krita, Gimp, Medibang, Affinity. There are a ton, but I think those are the big ones. I haven't used any of them a lot, but I know a lot of people like Krita. I find it a little confusing. I'm used to photoshop and clip, though. Medibang and Gimp seem a lot closer to PS/CSP. I don't know much about affinity, but it looks really slick, not sure why more people aren't using it.

My first try for the contest had really long chapters, my chapters in my normal comic are about 90 panels, but I divide them in two to three updates. Yet, my short story's incomplete first chapter has 120 panels and I wanted to die XD So yeah, unfortunately this is not applicable to everyone :'3

Does what drop the quality? Croppy doesn't lower quality. If you compress the image more, that will lower quality. Not a lot, but it does. Test it yourself to see if it is too much or not for you personally.
