This is beautiful! Love watching it go together! Tiny note, which maybe you've already noted; stationery is for writing--stationary is a description for something which doesn't move around. The two spellings are easy to get mixed up!
So excited to make this today. My neighbor and I craft at least once a week. She is 82 yrs young and I adore her and love watching her make journals. We are making this today. Thank you for making such wonderful items. I’m a huge fan.
Ive been very unwell and had a new smaller home built. Since November. I'm still not feeling well. However I chose 8 of my most favorite paper crafting artists. To not get overwhelmed. I've got a folder for each of my "friends. I make notes of things needed need. So I'll be ready for when I'm WELL. I'm so excited to get get started. Thank you, so much, for sharing all your gourgeous work. " Your folder"is getting very close to getting another folder.
Did you glue the backs of the pages together? I know it defeats the accordion feature, but I am curious to know. I have mine cut out but do not want to glue them if it hampers the functionality. Thanks bunches.
Lovely journal! Some people might notice that you used the word stationary. That means 'not moving.' You might want to change that to: stationery, which means paper for writing. 😉
I'm hooked now. This is the sweetest thing. I added it to the middle of a junk journal I'm making for a special friend. I know she is gonna love it. Gotta get the Christmas junk journal kit next, it will make a lovely gift for friends.
I know this is a old recording. I started buying these kits, I really love these. There so much fun putting them together. Working on the newer Christmas one 2022. Would love to see one like the Pink Gnome journal.
This is such a fabulous idea, so many good gift ideas come to mind, birthday, Christmas, Easter etc even happymail, and RAKs It is so darn cute and looks like such fun to decorate too TFS Hugs and Smiles
This is an ingenious gift idea. Lots of beautiful sections and all unique in themselves. I love this. I will have to try to make one, thank you for sharing your creativity and design.
this little gem made my day! I printed everything out and realized I had printed it on copy paper. So I will use it as a rough copy lol. Happy journalling!
That is so stinking CUTE! Great idea Stephanie. I’ve purchased quite a few of your mini projects and kits and your instructions and planning are outstanding! Thank you for this new one. 🥰
Oh my goodness - you really do design the most beautiful kits and projects. I cant wait to make this kit and gift it to my Sis! Thank you so much for sharing xx
Just discovered you on UA-cam and just had to buy your Gift Junk Journal. Its absolutely lovely and a concertina is a new technique for me. Looking forward to making it.
Absolutely beautiful on every page. Who wouldn't want one of those to give to a friend or keep yourself. I love how you've used pockets which compliment the contents :)
Such an awesome idea filled with pretty, adorable papers, tags and ephemera and so much more. Just so lovely. Going to buy it now...Thank you Stephanie for another gift of gifts and an awesome tutorial that anyone can understand and follow. Have a wonderful weekend. : )
What a FABULOUS idea! I immediately thought of several friends who will LOVE this! The perfect gift! You have such lovely designs! I know if it comes from you, I'll love it! Just a thought....I've never used magnets, but I frequently use small velcro dots as closures. Many thanks again! ❤
You can also score with a paper cutter, move the blade out of the way and line up on the cutting grove and use a stylist or a bone folder press lightly down the cutting grove. I have a score board but it seems like my paper cutter is always on my desk, so I just use it.
This is so much fun ! I love this kit and I'm having so much fun making some. First one goes to my Granddaughter! I put an eyelet on the cover flap, put Sari silk through it to wrap around the journal and tie in a bow ! I love how it turned out !! Thank you for another amazing kit Stephanie!!
I am going to wrap a ribbon around mine, too. But without making holes. I was thinking of this wider sari I have, stamping it with brown writing to kind of blend in. Did you glue your pages together to hide the white background??
I just found you guys and got some of my first kits. They are all fun and beautiful. I do have a question: Why do you not glue the spine of the journal? Did I miss something or is there another tutorial on making books in general? Thank you so much!
Hello! Welcome to our crafty family, Sheila! We're so happy to have you. 🤍 As to your question, did you mean why did we tape the spine together rather than glue it? As mentioned in the video, this was sort of just a quick crafting tutorial, so we taped it because that was what was on hand, but you could certainly glue it down to ensure longevity! Also, we do have several tutorials on how to create larger journal covers, and this one is a good starter: ua-cam.com/video/j4wMndLc0aw/v-deo.html Hope this answers your question!
@@myporchprints-junkjournalt5340 No - I am wondering why you aren't gluing the folded pages to the spine. (On the inside of the spine - gluing the folds of the paper. I hope I am being clear on that.) so you can't pull it out like an accordian. Is there a reason to leave it loose like this?
@@SheilaLandry No, no reason, we just didn't do it because it's not necessary to do so for the book to still function, so it saves time. Hope this helps!
Thank you for this tutorial. I have purchased this kit and will be making them Easter /Spring gifts. Question should we glue the pages to each other so the white doesn’t show ?
@@myporchprints-junkjournalt5340 Is there a reason why we cannot glue the inner white pages together?? Have you tried that? I do not want to waste ink on the back. Thanks.
This is lovely and I may buy this at a future time, but would like to know if stationAry (not moving) has been changed to stationEry (envelopes, paper etc)? Sorry, it's just that I noticed it and thought I should point it out if nobody else has already.. Thanks 😊
Stephanie often uses the 110 pound Pen+Gear brand from WalMart in the US. The 110 pound refers to the weight of 1000 sheets. The gsm refers to just one sheet. I Googled it for you. It appears to be 119 gsm on the package.
You can see me glue the pages in at the 12:26 mark. The pages are not glued to the spine, they are held in place by their folded shape and the covers are glued to the frame. So long as you just use it normally and don't turn the journal face down for some reason, it should work fine. :) Some people add glue to the spine and hold the pages there until they dry for extra stability, but we find that is not usually necessary. Hope this helped!
STATIONARY... Not moving... STATIONERY... Writing materials... You need to edit the file in your shop! Other than that, it's gorgeous, as is everything you make. You have such pretty hands btw. 😊😊😊
I amazed at how many knew this spelling. I was an English major, so I knew. What amuses me is my sisters continue to write "Your so right" and I am too kind to correct them.
Well, I am 10 months late here, but I would imagine the cover was printed out in a different setting than the pages were on your printer. Mine has shrink to fit, full size and then a place to enter percentages to increase or reduce. Before I printed onto cardstock, I did a few tests on copier paper to see the sizes and what would work together.

We just use 110 lb. Pen+Gear Card Stock from Walmart. Nothing special. :)
