You know a piece of equipment is a success when you can happily watch a video of someone transferring samples and sysex files to the machine. I need to get one of these so bad.
Nice guide, keep up making these! The first three times I went to Samples/Factory/Create Dir, gave the Dir the same name as you, I got an ERROR. Followed your guide in detail. When I turned off the AR and chose a different name, it was successful.
Obviously the user interface on this device is made by Elektron engineers, for their engineers. Not intuitive at all. Why can't it just appear as a USB storage and we can copy files directly via standard OS file explorer?
with the new Elektron Transfert app (and my Rytm Mk2), no need to setup the incoming folder on the machine, right on the computer software you set the name of the destination folder
With the new Transfer Application, on the MK1 I had to upgrade to the newest OS 1.6... before the instructions made any sense. Not sure what the consequences are for compatibility for Overbridge with the newer OS versions, so make sure to research that before upgrading too if that is a concern.
i did some testing and the following happens: projects are backed up without samples. when you use a sample in the project, you use a sample slot, into which you load a sample. if you want to use a sample from your computer, send it via sysex. then you gotta rename it letter by letter. then you gotta transfer it into a sample slot in the project. if later on the sample isnt found or deleted from the drive or renamed, then the project wont play it. if it loads again then via sysex (im talking about the backuped project), it wont say which sample is missing, it just says: off in the sample display. so the only way to do it is to send samples, note somewhere manually in a text document which sample is used by which drum track - and what its manually given name on elektron was. then connect these names to the names on your computer - best is to rename computer samples to short names before sending and then use the same names in analog rytm. Obviously its meant to be used with samples on the + drive that never get changed! unfortunately, this + drive can't be backupped, you can not send any sample from the analog rytm back to your computer in os 1.02! if you want to restore something or transfer it to another machine, the worst is that you need to rename every sample manually on the elektron after transferring, cause samples arrive there as 0,1 ,2 etc. after doing this, i realized a sample called "1" which i loaded into a project sample slot that i backed up before showed a mark with the sample slot it was used before in after i sent it back to the drive via sysex. ...but didnt show up in the sampel slot. i wish at least i could use some export of the names and slot numbers used in the porject instead of manually having to write down samples used in the project any concrete suggestions for improvement? no feature listing niceness please, just things that have been tried out and prove to work...
I love the background music, is there any possibility that you could put the patchs on your website. Could you also explain if this track was perfromed on the analogue keys only or did you use other elements to create this beautiful track? Thank you

Is it possible to "unload" samples from a project, so you can change some of the 127 samples without making a completely new project? Any suggestions ?
OMG is sooo slooooow!!! I wanted to make music today not look at progressing bars! It takes about an hour to sent a couple of samples to this machine. Please fix this shit!

I really like the fact that you've implemented samples into this machine. But geez - the process way is too long and uninspiring, w a lotta menu diving. Sample handling should be super fast, super fun, super easy and capture the moment within a few seconds. Good ideas easily disappears very quickly u know. The audio in stereo jack, can it be used for sampling? If not; then thats where you should be aiming. Mic in next time rite!

It's a super powerful drum synth / sequencer that also allows you to play with samples. One can easily work with this thing for years without ever using samples. I think everyone would prefer direct recording of samples, but it's not there. Once you get used to the machine, it's not a big deal.

For such a well designed drum machine, that is a horrifying importing method. Just terrible! Come on Elektron, its 2017. Has this been updated?

1. Project > Load > Create New [yes]
2. MIDI Config > Port Config > Input from > USB
3. Samples > Factory [right] Create Dir > [yes]
4. Samples > > [yes][left] > Upload here [yes]
5. Drag WAV:s to C6, select all!, Send
6. Sysex Dump > Receive > Anything > Receive Any [yes]
7. Drag SYX to C6, Send
8. Project > Save > empty row > [yes]
building a private rocket defends mechanism is easier..they really need to create a 'softer' way for us!
I don't think my opinion needs to be stated, but this is a complicated and slow process to upload samples.... hopefully an update will come soon. wonderful machines though!

When you create a dir go to main root where 2 folders and create one there. I had same error lol
