This might be your most thorough comparison video ever, you’d know best. That orange bag would make me smile too, despite the fact that I didn’t want one, until now. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the great comparison video JB. For myself, I tried many different pouches to attach inside and I found the GPP2 was the best fit for a great dump and yet not too big to take up all the room inside the pack. The CAP 2 also fits perfectly just below that pouch. Really digging this pack for my new EDC.
Mine just arrived. Absolutely fantastic. Thinking of attaching helikon t. Essential kitbag somehow to the daisychain, vertically. Ideas please JB or others!
Love the content as always. Knew that this had to be your next video as we got these packs around the same time. I got two colors as I always do when MR and Carryology decide to spoil us with color options. I always get the black and personally usually it’s a no brainer multicam option for me but this time around it was a tough choice between the olive green and the two tone coyote/multicam. I did end up getting the military option bc I feel like that’s the roots of MR as a brand but I was still conflicted bc VX42 is my favorite lamination DP has to offer no matter what brand or pack it is. (Side note: I haven’t yet gotten anything in laminated duck canvas and feel like it could win out over VX42 but please let me know if you have gotten that X11 or VX11 material as I know that 1773 released a duffel and a dopp kit for huckberry exclusive so I have wondered what that’s like). Anyway, I digress but overall just appreciate your content and did you say you’re a commercial pilot by profession? Now, so far I’ve had two gripes about Pegasus: 1) my pack doesn’t naturally stand on its own and I have a similar load out to your EDC and 2) the zippers so far have not been very user friendly but it looks like yours have broken in some so hopefully mine follow the same fortune bc I actually returned GR2 X-PAC variant bc the zippers were too stiff and I felt like on a $600 pack I shouldn’t have to wait to break them in and honestly maybe my pack was particularly sticky with the zips but they also seemed to snag some of that x-pac which was absolutely not an issue for waxed canvas options. lol, I was literally going to guess that you’re next one is going to be Goruck goes Dyneema as I saw a notification literally just pop in bullet in new materials. What can you say great minds? 😂
I appreciated the Charlie25 comparison. It's my go to grocery shopping bag (with the hat off), and proper-day-hiking bag. I think the Pegasus will fit the Daily EDC/Slight outdoor Adventure niche so well. Orange is on the way ...
From one bag loving airline pilot to another, how are you bringing the bag with you without shoulder strapping it (unless your shop permits wearing a backpack but I doubt Delta (my guess based off your iPad) swings that way). I’ve settled on the TD35 which admittedly is a little large but works super well as a modern ‘brain bag’ and so much easier to access beside me, although the 737 seat can’t always tuck all the way in. Evergoods did mention they may have a bag coming out to address some pilot centric requests, my hope is a smaller TD35. See you out on the line.
@@JBOutside1 I’ve been using a pelican case and a medium hero clip to the top handle, like you say any longer bags run the risk of dragging and that VX21 on the bottom probably wouldn’t last long if it makes contact constantly.
Just a comment for the tall kids. I’m 6’6” 175lbs and the small/medium size has always felt better than the medium large, but I use 30l packs. I have a Coulee 30 and a 3DAP. I have both medium large and a small harness for the 3DAP and I find the small significantly more comfortable. I wish the Unicorn was 30l. On a 6’6” frame a 20l with a small harness feels uncomfortable and looks awkward.
As always great content, love to hear your thoughts on how the Mystery Ranch Unicorn 2.0 compares to the GR1 X Carryology Samurai “GRXC2 Samurai” as a EDC Grail Pack, thanks in advance for your feedback, have a great weekend.
Mmmmm, great question and the answer is really they’re too different. Love both and will use them differently. Maybe I’ll do a Carryology Collaboration Special video?
hello, thank you for all of your vids. i was wondering what kind of camera bag was very good. Lowepro seem good but not so much. If you have any other product. Thank you in advance
I finally got a chance to play with mine and wow, this bag is tiny. I would say this bag is closer to 18 liters, definitely not 21 liters. I threw in my load out from my 21L GR1 and it was just enough space. Same load is about two thirds full in my GR1. It's also very narrow, I'm definitely spoiled by the GR1 organization like a dedicated laptop on the back outside that doesn't eat up space and another organization inside the bag. This is like a very basic daily carry no extras, kinda disappointed in it really, more about hype than anything.
A agree this fits smaller than the advertised volume. I didn't really notice it until I transferred into the new bag I'm testing (hopefully more later today on that). I moved into the Unicorn from my 16L Bullet and now it all makes sense!
@@JBOutside1 Now that sounds like a better fit. I really love the bag but just surprised at the design decisions from MR and Carryology, the xpac 21, the bottom panel material, the size is a big one. However it is incredibly beautiful, all the colors are, but if they had made it even two inches wider, that would have helped a lot. Aesthetically, I can't stop looking at it.
hi, can a 16" laptop fit? For the olive one with x42, does it get dirty and can't be wipe off? I have an alpaka utlity pouch with vx25 and i can't wipe off black marks.
@@JBOutside1The point you made about the top pocket not being as functional when harness is lengthened was very good. I found the main compartment difficult to use because of it. The zippers on my bag were not super functional to use either. Frustrating bag because I wanted to love it.

Great comparison! Thanks for the wonderful effort for this video. Looking forward to more videos while figuring out how to organise the unicorn 2.0
Glad it was helpful!
What’s it going to take to get this wonderful gentleman to 10K? Thank you for the video!

J-hook on my LuggageWorks. It works mostly ok...slightly tall but workable. I hadn't heard that pilot note...interesting.

Great video and comparison! Im a long-term mystery ranch fan, since their og 3 day assault pack.
Any thoughts on where i can pick a 2.0 up at?

Lots of great options from Peak Design, Nomatic, and WANDRD…just to name a few. Depends on how big of bag you like.

would you say that the unicorn 2.0 is too big for bag for the office?
Not really. But it always depends on how much you're carrying

What kind of sternum strap is it on the unicorn 1.0?
On Unicorn 1.0 it had a similar sternum strap but with a plastic buckle
