- Nintendo currently has no plans to bring the Virtual Console to the Switch. Let's talk about what that might mean, and maybe do a little crying.

Get out. Seriously. Get outta here.
It is the next logical step:
Physical Console
Virtual Console
No Console
This should be higher. Just saying.
You forgot Spiritual Console
KanalDerGutenSache then mental console
KanalDerGutenSache what about augmented console where you have a virtual console projected into your room so you can play it the classic way without it taking up any space. 😮
You forgot the last step:

Hello there lovely peeeeeeeeeeople
Why'd you feature a Josh Thomas video?
4:35 They DO come to your house and force you though, men in black suits show up and say "Wii would like to play" lol
lol
Why do you think everybody accepts, as they're private motto says:
If U refuse, Wii will get the Yakuza on U.
Yeah, but they don't say "Wii will make U buy V.C. games. NOW!" XDDD
EnterTheLyon The nintendo ninjas are real brudda
Daaaaaammmn boi, you remember that shit LOL kudos

I'm legitimately curious now if people actually get this reference.
Leonardo DaVincEat?
I have no idea could you tell me where it’s from?
Considering arlo took the channel link off his youtube channel, I don't know if he'd want me to link it.
Reference please.
I would be willing to pay full price just to get Paper Mario TTYD on my Switch. I don't care if it's a remake, a rerelease or whatever, I'm just dying to have it now.
Minus Bros. Ive never played the game, but if i do i want to only upgrade badge points....
I have a copy of my own and I am 159% sure I would buy it again if it was re-released or remastered on Switch.
Please no. Don't even suggest that. $60 for a nearly two decade old game is just begging for piracy.
Honestly same, it's the only reason I have my gamecube still hooked up to my TV. That game is so well made.
Minus Bros. Ikr
Who needs virtual console, I'd much rather spend $70 on a few pieces of cardboard.
Catman Thanks for noticing, I try 😁
For anyone wondering if I was serious, I made a review of the Labo experience. Its phenomenal.

jajaj,,,naaa?
Nintendo REALLY dropped the ball in regards to classic games on Switch, and it hurts even more after they have done so much right with the system. The Switch is Nintendo's crown jewel console that has so many great games to play, but they couldn't be bothered to offer a service that they had on the Wii in 2006?! Without VC on Switch, a lot of people will just turn to emulation, whether it be on a PC or a hacked Switch. It doesn't make sense from a business standpoint, or a logical standpoint. They put old games on Switch, we buy them. It doesn't seem that hard to understand.
Another possible issue with their cloud service games is that we might not be able to play them offline. If there's no way to download them at all, then we very well could only be playing them while connected to wifi, which would only make this terrible compromise worse.
BowserPower They have not dropped the ball. They still have SNES mini's on the market, and releasing a virtual console at this time would cannibalize that product at this time.
I really don't see the big deal about virtual consoles on the Switch if Nintendo goes the route of putting classic titles on the eShop.
Psy-Crow Mantis You are thinking as just a video gamer instead of as a business. The virtual console could come down the road as soon as the SNES mini has run its course. The classic NES mini has run it's course, and now Nintendo is putting the classic NES service as an online perk. The SNES mini's are still on store shelves, so it makes sense why they aren't doing SNES yet. Give it a little time.
Two steps forward, one step back. That's Nintendo's motto.
Lucifronz no need to call him an idiot. Besides, it totally make sense to not have a virtual console of they wanna sell us all those games progressively at full price like they did with donkey kong, or include them in a subscription as a meaningful perk instead of something you could just buy for less on the virtual console anyway. Yes it hurts but it makes sense as a business perspective. Just because some aren't happy doesn't mean they will get less money!
Lucifronz Yes it would compete and cannabalize their own products like I said, which is the SNES mini for home, and the 3DS virtual console for portable. They have the SNES mini's sitting right next to the Switch's and 3DS's at your local Wal-Mart right now. It's not as collectable as you think at this moment, like the NES mini was. Until Nintendo phases out these products, you will not see a virtual console on the Switch. If you want the old games that bad and can't wait, buy them on the eShop whenever they are available.
Virtual console: I don’t feel so good... *Fades away*

Welp,
Don’t have to feel guilty about using emulators anymore
Not that I ever was...
You’re a terrible person.
You're a reasonable person.
Understandable. Nintendo sucks towards their fanbase, so the fanbase can suck towards them.
Sorry to reply twice, but Isaac Woods, you're wrong. ROMs are illegal. If you're playing homebrew or hacks (And there are a lot of hacks), it's perfectly fine. Another thing that is perfectly fine is ripping your own ISO/ROM, which is incredibly easy on Wii/Gamecube, and I believe DS/3DS.
I haven’t seen you in forever! U still doing wwe finisher videos?
This has got to be one of the times I agree on literally everything Arlo says within a single video. To praise taking away the option makes no sense to me.
You know what I see when Nintendo isn’t putting a Virtual Console on the Switch?
Yeah, go ahead and emulate. See if we care.
I agree
Personally, I have faith we'll get classic games in the eshop. Not only would Nintendo gain profit from this on top of the online play, but I think there's a small, and somewhat rediculous reason they aren't going to call it the virtual console: Because you won't transfer games from your Wii U.
It made sense (in their point of view) to give it the same name because the Wii and Wii U were made in mind to transfer to each other respectively, and virtual console games would (for the most part) transfer from Wii to Wii U, but now with the seperation of the Wii U and Switch, Nintendo thinks that it would be wise to call it something else so that little Timmy doesn't call Nintendo because he can play Mega Man on Wii U but not on Switch.
So keep your eyes peel for the Smirtual Smonsole!
Except the 3DS's emulator was already called the Virtual Console and had a different library of games than the WiiU's, so naming convention is moot.
Because the 3DS was part of that same hardware cycle, they maintained consistency across all their platforms. The Switch is a clean break from all of them despite the 3DS still being supported. If they bring back individually purchasable classic games, they might just not have a naming convention like "Virtual Console" at all, they might just be identified by their specific platforms or their names as is. Or they'll use that "Archives" label like the NEOGEO and classic Nintendo arcade games do on the eShop already.
Good call
For those of you pointing out 3DS's difference in the Virtual Console but still called the same thing, it's one of the reasons why I call this decision ridiculous. It feels like something Nintendo would overlook and call something else.
Heck, maybe it's to market as far away from the Wii U as possible. I have faith that we'll get some form of our lovely NES-Gamecube games in one form or another on the eShop, that would just be wasted potential if they don't.

Sadly the Switch isn't powerful enough to emulate GameCube games. Maybe in 7 years we'll get the GameCube Classic for the system's 25th anniversary?
@@WaterKirby1994 how is it not powerful enough?
@@jacobguy3343 Whenever Switch attempts to emulate GameCube it suffers from severe lag. There have been guys who have tested this & it's sad that the Switch isn't powerful enough for GameCube. Switch can emulate NES, SNES, & GBA though if that makes you feel better.
WaterKirby1994 if the Wii U can emulate wii games (twice as powerful as the GameCube) the switch being more powerful than Wii U can theoretically emulate GameCube games
@@johnfromsubway5868 Wii U doesn't emulate Wii games, it is an enhanced Wii that has exclusive games it can play. As for Switch people have tried to emulate GameCube games on it & there's always severe lag.
Maybe the Switch will get an upgrade that will allow it to emulate Gamecube someday. However at the moment, it just isn't capable of emulating GameCube. Emulating takes a lot more processing power than normally playing a game on its intended system.
Fans: Let us buy your games, please!
Nintendo: 🖕
I super agree
Free will is a sham. If Nintendo releases something like a Mario Maker port to the switch, there is no way around it, I will buy it.
S_ Hussain4646 I think that's because most of us saw it as a snarky comment to snicker at and then move on, maybe after giving it a like.
Haha determinism!
Absolutely. I never played it because I wasn't will to but a Wii U for one or two games.
We could get up and get out there, and do something about the lack of gaming respect for gamers.
OR.....We could just say we will, and yet just live our lives comfortably, supporting the gaming Overlord that is Nintendo. :3

Pocky and Rocky is a fun and amazing SNES game. It would work perfect with the Switch because they could advertise how you can share a joycon to co-op.

Nintendo 3 years later: hey, wait. . .OH NO, WE FORGOT THE GAMECUBE! QUICK, RERELEASE SOME OF THE BEST GAMES ON THE CONSOLE!
This has upset me more than ANYTHING Nintendo has done lately. The virtual console on this new portable was the main selling point for me, and they didn't deliver. I'm gonna have to buy a 3DS again just for the SNES virtual console.
pfft, good luck with that there is hardly any snes games on the 3ds....do yourself a favor buy a Wii on the cheap and just mod the thing, thank me later...modding wii's nowadays are easy...

You were right. They messed up big with their system. They make you pay for the extended service to get the n64 games. At the end of the day Idc about Nintendo online, and only want 2 n64 games. It's terrible. Not to mention you HAVE to pay for the yearly subscription. There's not even an option to pay the 4 or 5 bucks to play the games for a month.
Y’all are silly. There is a VC right now. It’s just they’ve only covered one system at the moment:
The WiiU
and 3DS
You mean NeoGeo
wiiztec oh yeah they do have a bunch of those games. I guess it’s the WiiU and the NeoGeo then.
oh now i get the Joke. Because there are so many WiiU Games on the Switch XD I thought you meant that there is only a VC on the WiiU. But well. There is at least one GB and 2 SNES Games on the Switch right now. With the Seiken Densetsu Collection.

I think it's just a branding change: rumor has it it'll just be called Nintendo Classics, and titles will be purchased for less than what the Virtual Console model offered.
The intro describes the feeling you get while waiting for a new Arlo video
i know its unrealistic but i wish they would start releasing ds games on the switch. it would be a great experience to play them on the big screen. i really hate handhelds but the ds had a lot of great games that id like to play
But there's still no hotel Mario virtual console no wait *NOOOO*
There will be no more spaghetti ;-;
Alright, if Nintendo doesn't want my money for VC games, I feel 0 guilt using an emulator for the games that aren't available on my 3DS.
I've never felt much guilt emulating anything up to DS because Nintendo wouldn't be getting any money from me buying the physical game used anyway. They aren't manufacturing DS games anymore, they're all used at this point in 2nd hand game shops (GameStop, BullMoose, etc.) and all of the money goes to the company. 3DS games are still being distributed by Nintendo so I don't do those, but everything else is fair game.
MrLegendofLP same here
+MrLegendofLP My rule of thumb is anything beyond the last two generations is fair game; they made their fair share of profits for the consoles the games were designed for, and so now it's irrelevant whether they're pirated. I do not see any real objection to this, and I don't give a rats ass about the legal matter.
+Jop V. Money spent for emulation on official hardware is mostly inconsequential. Age is wholly relevant, and arguably the only relevant factor as it sums up the entirety of factors behind game development and end sales for the hardware for which they were designed.
Game sales for original hardware beyond two generations have largely diminished into oblivion, with end-sales usually _never_ making it to game developers. At this point it is irrelevant whether a game is pirated.
When I said the money spent on official emulation is mostly inconsequential, I mean that the time and effort required to make an emulator to play old games is hardly even a drop in the bucket compared to the initial development costs of a single game. Once an emulator is generated, it can be used repeatedly for every single title (with some minor adjustments) from the target system. The actual games are not modified (in the vast majority of cases), so no money needs to be spent on porting, with costs largely covered by the initial investment in the emulator and subsequently the small-time costs for testing emulated titles and tweaking emulation parameters.
In conclusion: what I'm saying is that pirating a game beyond two generations *cannot* harm the game makers by _any significant margin_ . The expenses for emulation and testing are minimal, and the initial investment in developing the game and selling for original hardware _has already run its course_ . Potential sales for reselling a game are irrelevant. There isn't really a risk for losses. Only profit. Nice, lazy profit.
If Nintendo is angry at my pirating their old games, then boo-fucking-hoo. I'd only be paying for their emulator, and I'd rather just use someone else's that is freely available.
Or how about you don't pirate at all and accept the company's decisions.
Filthy pirates.
The beginning of this video (the Edgelord part and the segway to the "normal Arlo") is really well done. You are certainly improving your comedian skills. Keep up the good work.
Arlo is just the best, sometimes I'm not actually interested in the topic you will talk about but after watching your videos are both entertaining and informative.
Keep it up! :D
I mean I don’t know what you were all expecting for an *online service* when virtual console is usually something added to the Eshop anyway. I’d imagine it would even be a while before VC even came out despite how advantageous it would be for them right now.
Considering it's already been a year since the Switch's release I just can't see them not at least adressing the issue of a Virtual Console replacement sometime soon, perhaps even at E3.
Darca1n I’d think for something this anticipated, they *would* wait until E3 or until they have a newer reason to but who’s to say it will even be VC? What if it’s like Megaman Legacy collection? I dunno I’m just out of ideas at this point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I find it unbelievably stupid to not only discontinue Virtual Console (which has been around since the Wii) but to also not even MENTION it, 14 months into the Switch's life. I have no idea what they're thinking.
Nate Haviland can you play old systems using the service
..do you guys just not watch the video?
I feel like this is more of a greedy move, since it forces users who *don't* want a subscription to the online service to get one anyways, even if they don't play online.
Sure, but it's still greedy.

Good thing the Switch is so easily moddable. Just install homebrew and emulators and now you can play every game imaginable from nintendo consoles or otherwise.
Ok, I don't advocate for emulation or piracy whatsoever, but because Nintendo decided to kill off the Virtual Console it gives people all the more reason to emulate any game on the switch. I don't plan on installing emulators on my switch but the fact that it's the SWITCH, is very easily moddable, and now that the Virtual Console is gone, I can't say that it isn't tempting.
If Nintendo really wants to get rid of pirates (like all game companys should), they need to understand that they need to provide us easy ways to play retro games
"The easiest way to stop piracy is not by putting antipiracy technology to work. It's by giving those people a service that's better than what they're receiving from the pirate"
-Gabe Newell
Agreed
Yep and the firmware for homebrew will be release in June, nintendo messed up. I would much rather buy official versions of the game like I have numerous times before with the Wii, Wii U, and my 3DS, but if nintendo isn't giving me the option I am going to emulate them on my switch. I would have even bought the year sub for online if the virtual console was behind an online pay wall.
That's the thing though, Nintendo would much rather prefer giving you an extremely exploitative system & just use propaganda & legal violence to secure their marketshare instead of competing honestly. Emulation is not a bad thing, this is just like the bullshit companies used back in the radio days. "Pirate" radio stations were seen by people as not being legitimate because of establishment propaganda telling them that the only moral way to experience radio was through the "official" channels.
Stephen O'Brien
Emulation is basically pirating since you're getting a product from the company for free without giving them any money for their hard work. Of course, emulation is not 100% a bad thing. I'm completely fine with mods such as Project M which is completely fan made and so doing so doesn't hurt Nintendo at all. But there are people out there who would much rather recieve a product for free due to lack of availability even if it is technically illegal. As of right now, the only way to play Gamecube games is to own a physical copy (which are no longer being produced meaning there is a limited number of such), or to emulate them. There are many people out there who have never played games like Super Mario Sunshine or Paper Mario TTYD because of this.
Emulation itself is not and will never be piracy...... The way you get the Rom or ISO can be though.
I can *hear* the title of the video. Amazing work as always! You're so funny :D

I've been considering buying a Switch for a while, but this news has actually made me less likely to do so.
Benji B. Vc not being in is a bummer, but you should definitely get one. It has an amazing library of games including (debatably) the best 3d mario and zelda and you can take them wherever you want! Still if you can't/ don't want to I understand
Honestly, I regret buying one myself. Kirby was underwhelming, BotW can't even be called a Zelda game, and Odyssey feels watered down when compared to either of the Galaxy games or even Sunshine. The Switch doesn't even feel like a Nintendo console anymore.
@@jonathanwilliams1271 I agree
I still say it’s worth it but I understand why you would think twice about it.
@@jonathanwilliams1271 idk if you're being sarcastic or not but this is 100% how I feel. Other than watered down franchise entries and Wii U ports, the Switch doesn't offer much, especially at the $300 price point. Like I could've put that money towards a Wii U, got BotW, all the ports like MK and DK AND have virtual console (along with free online). It may be more successful than the Wii U, but its definitely a step back.
I really appreciate your channel. Silly yet charming
I think this DOESN'T mean no way to play NES, SNES, N64, GCN, GB, GBC, or GBA on the Switch. I think it means it won't be called "Virtual Console". Eventually, something called somthing like the "Retro Revivals", and it would be relesed like "Arcade Archives" with added online play. It would also probably be released in cartage bundles that would be like the Mega Man Legacy Collections.
Edit: They might just add more classic games that aren't on NES to the online library.
We can only hope. You have any idea how many games can fit in even 8 GB?
Chaos89P n64 games never exceeded 64 MB and GC capped out around 1.5 GB so...
That being said, 256 N64 games could fit into an 8 GB cart, which is a vast majority, if not the whole 64 library.
And for GameCube, you can fit up to five games
Savage J20 That was actually my point. Literally hundreds of NES games can easily be fit into a 1 GB thumbstick. Even with a UI to tie them all together, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo could easily fit nearly all mainline Super Mario games and a few spinoffs up to Super Mario Sunshine into a Switch card.
"Old games should be available as-is for the people who never got to play them."
"Yeah, the Switch has Neo Geo games, but I don't really care - I never had a Neo Geo."
I think you've stumbled onto one of the reasons they're moving away from Virtual Console! Offering singleton retro games just doesn't do it for a lot of people, especially if they don't already have nostalgia for it. On the other hand, if they focus more on remakes and polished, unique compilation packages, they can make it more attractive for new fans and give existing ones a good excuse to rebuy.

It's like they're allergic to money! Seriously! PORTABLE Classic games. ON THE GO.
C'mon nintendo, for christ's sakes!
Gorgo the Orc ikr
To be fair, portable classic games still happened on the 3ds
Something else to note is that the the hardware that the Switch has could emulate games just fine.
Gorgo the Orc classic Virtual Console would be GREAT for the Switch, but Nintendo is being smart about this one, they can make more money with their online service alone than the whole Virtual Console.
I feel betrayed by nintendo right now, this isn't something they would normally do, this kind of business practice is something EA would pull off, not Nintendo. Fuck...Iwata wouldnt have allowed this.
I understand they can make bank with the online service, but why not both? Seriously, it wouldn't hurt!
I just want to comment on the idea of the idea of "more options is always better. While, sure, a smart consumer could probably pick out the smartest options for themselves, often people just want to get to use whatever they've bought. This exact principle applies heavily to games. For example, micro transactions feed on the weaker decision-making skills of the audiences they're targeting, which is usually younger kids. Sure, they have the option to NOT buy these micro transactions, but the temptation beats the advice from their parents. And while Nintendo doesn't necessarily prey on their consumers weakness, a lot of these issues can apply- especially when stakes like money are a factor. For example, maybe someone thinks of it as an obligation to purchase a certain game they remember liking. I often fall into cases where I choose something simply out of obligation, even if my heart lies otherwise. Or another scenario is someone thinking they only want "one game" from the classic service, only to discover they may want another or another, and since they permanently put the money into that one game, they can't switch back to the service instead. This may be an especially big problem since the waves of games that come out. For example, if later GameCube games start getting added and someone who dropped money for some nes games earlier wants them, now they'll either spend more money to get less games or get the service, and will have accidentally wasted a bit of extra money on the new game. So, in short, while a smart consumer could probably use more options well, often people don't put enough thought into a purchase and that sort of freedom could turn out to hurt them. That's why I don't necessarily think the argument for "more options" is always very valid.
well written. Just break the paragraph into sections and it'll be pleasant to read

OR, Nintendo can release a retro game section on the Eshop.
The Switch can run Linux, so you can just install Dolphin directly onto the system. You do need to grab a wireless controller with analog triggers and some kind of a dongle for said controller for some of the GameCube games though.
E3 is just a couple of weeks away, Arlo. I suspect we might hear something by then so I suggest we wait for a bit and see.
awesome work!!
In regards to your retort to "Nintendo didn't say the service wasn't coming; they just said it wouldn't be called the 'Virtual Console.'" point, I have to agree that the notion of introducing a new system DOES heavily imply that a drastic change is coming, but while at first glance it can be illogical to assume they'd want to just give the platform a new name, it actually makes a LOT of sense from a marketing standpoint to simply re-brand the Virtual Console.
Re-branding raises attention, and allows a chance for their marketing to capitalize on any smoother fixes to the Virtual Console's issues! This all really could just be a case of their sales department wanting to make a big deal out of this new channel for distributing their older games!
I think they’re replacing the flawed virtual console system with Netflix styled NES Switch Online, they’ll release more consoles for the platform on the way most likely
Actually.... If they fill out their catalog with a ton of games, a Netflix format might work. Pay a monthly fee for unlimited access to hundreds of games you can simply download and play. Like if GameFly wasn't solely delivery based.
Exactly!
What was flawed about it?
Interesting idea, but they would need to really fill it up with games.
I have a hunch that maybe they are building towards a tiered system... like the 20$ would get you only NES games... but add 10$ and get also SNES/N64 games.... add another 10$ and get also Gamecube/GBA games.
Yeah right. I had Rondo of Blood on the Wii through the virtual console and it was also my main introduction to the Castlevania series.
literally all the background songs you use in all your videos are from all of my favorite games of all time
I love it when Arlo writes poetically
The Arlo Fan Community I hate it when Arlo shits on the NeoGeo
I hate when Arlo says that Pikmin for 3DS hurts him
think about it...... Mario Kart Double Dash 16 Player.......... ooooooohhh boi im getting.... certain feelings from those thoughts.
baby park. 200cc.
Walther Penne I swear you're on fuckin crack
puppets and video games.... my two favorite things in one youtube channel..... how have i never heard of you!
+Arlo
Hey Arlo, you mentioned about being able to game on the go with the Switch as a reason for the *Virtual Console* to make so much sense to have on the system. I kind of agree with that sentiment since it takes the concept of that library to the next step with an on the go system. I grew up with a Gameboy and then a Gameboy Color. Most of my friends had one as well, so Game Link 2 player games like tennis, pokemon, double dragon, mortal kombat 2 were a lot of fun and felt like a step in the right direction for gaming in general. You had more multiplayer Gameboy games with the arrival of the Gameboy advance (titles like Zelda 4 Swords come to mind ) but you could see the potential.
I want Wii games for the Switch, I mean the Wii U had Wii games on the Virtual Console.
Wii isn't happening, at all. Or maybe remasters but not a "VC" or something like it. I see Nintendo releasing classic game collections (like the NES ones) for multiple systems on the Switch. (Up to the N64, and all gameboys). But not GameCube (no anlog triggers), Wii or DS games.
Sander Evers DS games are plausible, actually.
SilvARK er yeah but the wii could do n64 games
The Wii U had backwards compatibility with the Wii.
The Wii U had Wii games for download and they weren't labeled Virtual Console. I think that's kind of an important distinction to remember, especially with this discussion.
Virtual BOI
BOI
BOI
Me me virtual boi
If everyone who spelled boy "boi", was wiped off the face of the planet, it would be a better place
🅱️OI
Johnny Cash's Hurt is playing in my head during the intro.
Hey Arlo; what specific games or services would you need to come to the Switch for you to finally put the Wii U in storage? Same question for the 3DS as well.
I’ve never played super mario 64 so hopefully the virtual console comes soon
Lewi Toons Do you own any Wii (U) ?
Lewi Toons He literally said that Nintendo fucking said it is not coming
Get an emulator
Pepe Shitpost Under that banner. They could be just changing the logo and name
oh my god, please download a emulator, you have no idea what your missing.
All I want is at least SNES and N64 games to be included in this NESflix service. Please, Nintendo. WHY didn’t you announce them? Are they really not coming?
Obviously Gamecube games would be fantastic as well, but..I won’t get my hopes up when Nintendo won’t even say if freaking SNES games are on the way. Seriously.
Snes is where the big profit is for them. nostalgic jrpg fans.
They're testing the waters with the minor money maker so it can be perfected by the time snes comes along. Or do you expect them to open the negotiation with their best offer?
Paige Wilson They mentioned SNES games would be considered last year actually, so I do expect them to come eventually. At least SNES. They even said last year that it would launch with just NES games at first, so I don’t think anythings changed since then. SNES is probably coming..I just wish it sounded more confirmed rather than ‘probably’ or ‘maybe’
NES and SNES games via subscription, while you can own them with NES mini and SNES mini. That’s probably Nintendo’s reasoning for how they’re doing this.
4 emulators were discovered as part of the Switch Online service, NES & SNES along with 2 others that we can only speculate the identity of. Unfortunately Switch isn't powerful enough to emulate a modern console like GameCube, however we may get GBA or N64 over the next 2 years.
1:10 It says in the corner that Miitomo died
so R.I.P.
What is the song at the end of the video? I really want to listen to the full thing.
3DS is my go-to for VC because I can pull it out anywhere.
At least until Nintendo decide what they want to call the VC on the Switch.
VC with only two systems
I think this is, at worst, a test. The fact is, there may well be a better way to distribute old games than the Virtual Console. So they're going to test a new system to see if it works better. And pass or fail, they're going to put a lot more classic games on the Switch in some form. I really *REALLY* can't believe that a few old NES games are all we're going to get on the Switch, one way or another.
And if the new system turns out to be somewhat crappy and/or the classic games we really want never show up, then it's like you yourself said in your In Defense of Ports video, Arlo. Those old systems with their old games still exist, and you can still play them there. Sure it would kind of suck that we can't just use the Switch to play everything, but it's not like you've lost these games for all time. You'll just have to put up with the first-world inconvenience of keeping your old game consoles.
I wish I had your Rose colored glasses, my friend.
SNES games have been confirmed & it was discovered there are 4 emulators as part of the Switch Online service. I'm sure that a few years from now we'll have hundreds of games as part of Switch Online.
You need and old tv to play the real thing tho.
8:52 arlo’s face lol😂😂😂
I can't wait for the smurchal smonsle to be revealed at E3
It ironic how people complain about Nintendo being greedy for money, but then go back and complain about Nintendo not wanting their money when something like Virtual Console getting cancelled happens. Its utterly baffling; make up your minds.
Also, in my opinion its shameful to see people feel so entitled to get Virtual Console, that they threaten to hack their Switches when it doesn't come. Like come on now, have some sense and this is coming from a Nintendo fan.
I bet the sales data from Virtual Console on previous generations would be very telling. We don't know what Nintendo is actually going to do about making classic games available, but if the Virtual Console model was going perfectly as is then they wouldn't be making a big change now. Probably, I don't know. Nintendo does make weird decisions. But - just speculating - I feel like if you looked at the numbers you'd see people weren't buying VC titles nearly as much as all this panic about no more VC suggests and they're hoping they've come up with something better.
That's kind of what I think. I mean, I'm not sure where we would be able to find that sales data, but I get the feeling most consumers don't really care about the Virtual Console since your average consumer probably doesn't feel any remorse about just emulating the games. I mean, if it were truly making them money hand over fist, they wouldn't feel the need to change or get rid of it.
Of course I don't know how much Nintendo has to pay to host game downloads or for licenses to third-party titles on the service or how money from that sale would be cut, so it's hard to say what their profits or expenses per title sold would be.
Nintendo said before switch came out that they plan it to be a part of their online service because otherwise we must buy it again and again on every console. Many ppl forgot or miss that part
"E3 is in a MONTH?! AHHHH...." Best Arlo quote ever...until I think of a better one.
what i do not understood is, does the new online service mean i can not play games like splatoon online anymore when i not buy it or is it a special service that does not affect games online functions?
ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuu
I just want to be able to play Earthbound or Earthbound Beginnings on the Switch
Yeah here's hoping they both get added to the Switch Online service later this year!
Or Mother 3..
I hope for Mother Collection or Mother 4/ Earthbound 3
No virtual console is the stupidest decision they could have possibly made.
You are by far the most consistently entertaining Nintendo UA-camr that doesn't rely on putting on a fake character and muppetting someone else's opinion
A virtual boy no longer, he is now a VIRTUAL MAN
