- #rishisunak is desperate. He knows that the #tories are going to lose the coming #generalelection2024 and he is desperate. All else has failed and so he is now focused on getting #asylumseekers who have crossed the Channel sent to Rwanda despite all obstacles.
This will not solve the problem, will be subject to endless legal and other challenges and is costing a fortune in time and money.
Instead of focussing on matters which are of greater importance to the country such as the cost of living crisis, the NHS, the delays in the legal system etc, the Prime Minister has decided to prioritise sending asylum seekers to Rwanda. It is a foolish project which has no hope of succeeding.

As a European, I deeply regret the UK's decision to leave the EU. Hi, yes, I never thought that a government of this country would stoop so low as to try to push through a policy thought up in bad faith as this one. Everything about this is a disgrace.
Isn't Sunak very Indian, very high caste, very divisive and dismissive of poor people? Also very rude, tetchy and defensive. I am sick and tired of him and also Braverman bringing divisions and conflicts of other countries (Muslim men etc) into Britain. They are clearly of immigrant stock who haven't adjusted too well in Britain. British values used to be live and let live, tolerance, not division, neither general hate and performative cruelty. People used to denounce Tommy many names and the BNP, before Sunak and co made their policies the central aims of the present government. Is this really what Britain has become? Or are British people better than this.
Ignore the negative comments and carry on. A voice of reason and his informative list of the governments reckless and wasteful spending, delivered in his calm and respectful manner, should be viewed by all, regardless of their political bent. Respect to you.

Just think what the Rwanda money could have been spent on to better effects: homelessness, addiction treatment, CAMHS, getting people out of B&B accommodation, fixing the public buildings affected by RAAC concrete. The list goes on.

The actual reason why they 'have a go' is precisely because they realise that you make sense, and that your analysis is shared by many. Thank you Michael for your update. Rise above these rude people. The Rwanda Bill only reflects what Sunak thinks overall of the poor, be it children, the elderly, disabled, refugees, or simply people finding themselves in an unfortunate position. They are all the same to him. Our rich culture tells us we take care of those with less, in India they are the untouchables and having worked there I see Sunaks ignorance and arrogance in so many. We simply can’t afford people of his morality or lack of intelligence.

I live in Scotland, and like the vast majority of others who live here, we cannot find any good reasons for leaving the EU.

When Israel sent their asylum seekers to Rwanda, within days of arriving, they were sent across the border to Uganda (for a fee) and they disappeared, many returning to Europe. The Israel Supreme Court stopped the scheme.

Dear Michael, I am not an 'illegal immigrant. But I understand that the cost of shipping each deportee to Rwanda works out at £1.8 million per person. Do you know of any way I can agree to be sent to Rwanda for say. £1.6 million? I was born in this country but would be happy to make my own way to Rwanda provided the government pays me £1.6 million, thus saving some £200,000. I promise I won't try to come back to the UK.
This is a great idea. Like you, I was born here of immigrant parents. I’d be happy to move to Rwanda for £1.6million, or even just £1million and I’m sure many others would. The government should give us all this opportunity instead of flushing the money down the toilet.
Sign me up! But one condition, UK keeps Suella and the other Tory immigrants away from Rwanda.
