Offense is clearly more valuable in the NBA though, MVP usually goes to offensive guys. Defensive Players get DPOY but we don’t seem to view those awards as equals. The game favors offense in a big way because the NBA wants it to, so to me when you take all that in consideration a mostly offensive player can be the best. Luka’s an incredible scorer & passer, controls the pace of the game. It’s hard to discount that, so really there’s more to players than pure offense (scoring) & defense. Luka’s defense has gotten a lot better this playoffs too. I used to feel the same, Jokic kind of broke me out of it with how unstoppable he can be. Giannis is the best 2 way player in the game the last 4 years, he’s not a great shooter though & so it limits his game. There’s no perfect answer, Embiid I guess but he has health issues unfortunately. I feel like most wouldn’t say Tatum, SGA, & Ant are better than Luka & Jokic, there feels like there’s a gap & it might be because these guys facilitate & score at a great rate.

As a Mavs fan, I'm so happy we have the bigger market team than MN does. It really makes a HUGE difference when 2 teams that are neck-and-neck are playing a 7 game series like this. Having the whistle on your side is what makes all the difference in such scenarios and the league does that for the bigger market team, especially when playing a small market team like MN (who have a poor history and are therefore not as financially valuable). There's more to the NBA than just basketball, and that's why I love it. So many ways a team can garner an advantage these days. And it has REALLY come in handy in turning those three first games from losses into wins down the stretch. It didn't work in Game 4, but I still give the refs an A for effort in the closing minutes of Game 4 anyway. They don't have TOTAL control of what happens but they can usually get a win when its close down the stretch like that. So I'd say Game 4 was an anomaly in which they really tried but it just didn't work out that time like it had in games 1-3.

Someone needs to tell Jay Luka has been the best defender these playoffs, all the stats point to Luka being the best player in the world.
Offense is clearly more valuable in the NBA though, MVP usually goes to offensive guys. Defensive Players get DPOY but we don’t seem to view those awards as equals. The game favors offense in a big way because the NBA wants it to, so to me when you take all that in consideration a mostly offensive player can be the best. Luka’s an incredible scorer & passer, controls the pace of the game. It’s hard to discount that, so really there’s more to players than pure offense (scoring) & defense. Luka’s defense has gotten a lot better this playoffs too. I used to feel the same, Jokic kind of broke me out of it with how unstoppable he can be. Giannis is the best 2 way player in the game the last 4 years, he’s not a great shooter though & so it limits his game. There’s no perfect answer, Embiid I guess but he has health issues unfortunately. I feel like most wouldn’t say Tatum, SGA, & Ant are better than Luka & Jokic, there feels like there’s a gap & it might be because these guys facilitate & score at a great rate.

As a Mavs fan, I'm so happy we have the bigger market team than MN does. It really makes a HUGE difference when 2 teams that are neck-and-neck are playing a 7 game series like this. Having the whistle on your side is what makes all the difference in such scenarios and the league does that for the bigger market team, especially when playing a small market team like MN (who have a poor history and are therefore not as financially valuable).
There's more to the NBA than just basketball, and that's why I love it. So many ways a team can garner an advantage these days. And it has REALLY come in handy in turning those three first games from losses into wins down the stretch.
It didn't work in Game 4, but I still give the refs an A for effort in the closing minutes of Game 4 anyway. They don't have TOTAL control of what happens but they can usually get a win when its close down the stretch like that. So I'd say Game 4 was an anomaly in which they really tried but it just didn't work out that time like it had in games 1-3.
