In 1994, according to an interview, Ed Roland wrote 35 songs and Collective Soul recorded 19 of them. Twelve made it onto the Blue album (not including the bonus track). The tracks that missed the cut (and this is my educated guess) are Lay Down, Thick, Balloon, Almost You, Persuasion (not Persuasion Of You), Why Pt 1 (not Pt 2), and maybe Hymn 24 (although that was actually written for the Ed E Roland (1991) album, but the band played it in 1994 often). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm obviously a big fan.

All those song i would loved to hear recorded properly...There is another song (lost in time lol), newer, I don't know the exact year maybe '96 '98, Ross on guitar, it's calles Our World Fades Away, great riff and solo, altough the quality it's very low... I thought it was upload here in youtube, but i can't find it. Maybe i will upload soon :D

JogueCS Thank you so much!!!!! It was a good song! I wonder why Collective Soul never released it. I wish they'd come out with a compilation album of 20+ yrs of B tracks, unreleased tracks, rare tracks, and bonus tracks. If CS wanted to update the songs with the band's new members that would be fine by me too. However, I do love hearing the original take with the classic lineup.

I concur with your educated guess. 👍Those would be my choices, too. Also, "She Said" originally was slated for the Blue Album. I heard Ed tell the story about "December" being the last song added to the album after much arm-twisting of the other band members (the album was ready to go for the most part when he came to the studio with "December"); he claimed that "She Said" got the boot in favor of "December".
Update 1: I ran across one of those interviews with Ed, but in this particular one, he said that "She Says" was pulled from the Blue Album in favor of "The World I Know", which he claims was the last song recorded for the album. Oddly enough, he and the guys thought "She Said" was going to be a single (and felt it would be a hit), then it was cut from the album.
Update 2: Found an interview with Will Turpin where he tells the story of the last track to be recorded for (and ultimately included on) the Blue Album. He says it was "December".
Either way, "She Said" was dumped in favor of another track that was hugely successful.

THIS IS AMAZING!!!! I HAVE NEVER HEARD SUCH A GOOD QUALITY OF THIS SONG, SORRY FOR YELLING IM JUST ESTATIC. Still cant believe they never recorded it and gave it to Sister Hazel.

Well, to be fair, Sister Hazel almost completely re-worked the lyrics. The music is the same, and most of the pre-chorus, chorus, and/or bridge maintained the same lyrics, but the verses are entirely different, save a few words here and there. I wonder what possessed Sister Hazel to re-write the lyrics, or if it was Ed in collaboration with Sister Hazel who made the changes. It wouldn't be the first time that an Ed Roland song had much different lyrics when finally recorded than when he was "test driving" them in concert. The lyrics to "Right As Rain" in early performances are different than what ultimately was recorded.
