    Just shows what you can do with a shorter boat. I wouldn't have even considered a 39ft vessel before. Very nice

    This is a very well designed and laid out boat. You would think it is much larger than it is because of the brilliant layout. For those interested in the small house trend, you couldn’t do better than this boat.

    For a fairly short boat she is incredibly well fitted out but as a family with 2 very tall adult sons I think we'd get in each other's way pretty quickly though !
    I applaud the fact that James is now including a sight of the engine bays in his videos nowadays - most welcome.

      Boat this size really isn’t meant for more than 2 people with 1-2 guests that ALMOST always know when it’s time to go home. If you got two adult sons I’d suggest a longer boat with a master bedroom at the from and a bunk room in the back, since you have the extra crew to help handle the boat when in motion.
      Other option I’ve heard people do is include a powered but towable short hull narrowboat, sort of halfway between a butty and a boat. It’s interior space lacks galley and salon and it’s toilet is just hidden in a cabinet much like a converted camper van. Along with the oversized rudder it sports a trolling motor usually seen on fishing boats for powered turns and lock duty.

      @@MrSheckstr Cheers for the helpful advice Steven. The last hire boat we rented (back in 2017) was a 6-berth, which worked really well. I do like the idea of a butty boat - that would be fun ! 😎

    Lovely boat, these smaller ones certainly use the space well. There are multiple options in the saloon for the new owner, my choice there are two captains chairs and a folding dining table, Dean proposed another, however the galley bathroom and bedroom are all generous.

      his may sound odd, but if using it as a liveaboard for a single or couple I'd be tempted to have 2 single dinettes on either side, the one on the hatch side normally left as a sofa and the other as a dinette. This gives a permanent sofa and eating area for just the 1 or 2 of you but four dining places plus 1 or 2 single beds when you have guests. It even has the benefit that all 4 diners can get up without having to ask someone to move!

    Other than walk through bathroom I think that is an optimal layout

    • @MrSheckstr
      @MrSheckstr 3 роки тому

      I get the aversion to walk through but only barely. A walkthrough bathroom allows you to have a larger bathroom without having to waste boat length on the corridor next to it. Without a walkthrough the only bathroom this boat could have is a wet bathroom and even then you would have to waste boat length on transition between a center passage in the galley and a side passage next to the bathroom. And a boat this size it’s not like there is gonna be a lot of foot traffic from salon to bedroom that is gonna be frustrated by the bathroom being occupied that can’t be solved by simply going outside and back in

  • @SLO-Ride

    For a single person, this would be very nice. Excellent bathroom for a such a small craft. Of course....I would remove the couches for chairs and a small dining table. While the galley is small, it does have plenty of "horsepower" with the standard appliances. Not liking the cross bed, but considering the boat size, it makes good sense, especially with that huge stern deck. I would certainly add plenty of solar, and a 4th domestic battery. I think, I would also exchange the engine for at least a 40hp. I imagine a small boat would be too easily pushed around by river currents, and would want more prop thrust to counter that.

    A very nice boat for its' compact size and in excellent shape. I think it is a bit high on the price (Think 1K per foot) for a nicely equipped boat. I believe it would be a very fair deal at around 37K to 40K. About the only thing lacking here is solar. I'd be proud to own her and I'm sure it won't last long at just a few thousand less. I also appreciate your now including video of the engine which by the way, is VERY LOW time for a boat this age, a definite selling point. I also have to say, the fit out appears to be rather on the high end with the quality of fixtures and wood and I LOVE the walk thru bath as well as the cross bed. I think I would go as high as 42K if the boat had solar. Finally, all the paintwork really is in very good condition, this boat won't last long.

    Ive been looking at narrow boats for a bit and i have 1 minor problem I keep comming across. Im 6'- 4" tall. This excudes just about every boat ive seen. I think i have to get a hull built for my height.

    • @AndreasDuessca
      @AndreasDuessca 3 роки тому +1

      I'm the same height. I lived on a narrowboat for two years during my twenties - boats with more headroom do exist, mine had 6'6" but yes, it did take a bit of luck to find one. There are manufacturers that create more head space.

    Beautiful and skillfully thought out boat let down slightly by the bathroom. Why people put tiny shelves between the end of the shower cabinet and the wall I do not know. Who stores fresh towels in a room that will steamy and damp? Get rid of the pointless shelving and put in a larger shower tray instead of one which even Snow White's entourage would find small and awkward to use.

    • @SLO-Ride
      @SLO-Ride 3 роки тому

      Just about every modern canal boat (and many older boats), has an extractor fan in the shower/tub stall, in order to keep moisture away from all the wood structure on board. You would get more moisture in the air, by boiling the teapot in the morning. My own bathroom in my house, has all the bath towels and bedroom linen stored in cupboards.
