Loved the story of how Harold Ramis and Bill Murray had a falling out in the set of Groundhog Day and stopped all communication for 20 years. but then Bill found out Harold was dying and in 2014 went to Ramis' hometown. Since Bill didn't know where he lived, he went to the police station and asked for his address. He arrived at Ramis' house with a police escort and a box of doughnuts. They then made their peace and said their goodbyes.
@@BDTXIII it was while filming Groundhog Day. Bill was going through a divorce at the time and wanted the film to be more philosophical. Eventually, Harris lost his temper to such a degree that he grabbed Bill by the collar and threw him against a wall, that was the end of their friendship.
This movie made me tear up. I cried during that entire ending sequence. This movie did something that others don't really do for me, it got a strong emotional reaction out of me. I cried like I was little kid.
You Know I Thought the Same Thing When I Seen this Movie last year in November. Seeing Phoebe Getting Help from her Grandfather Egon in Fighting Gozer was Identical to the Gohan/Goku vs Cell Kamehameha Battle. Though Bottom Line, Director Jason Reitman did not Disappoint with Ghostbusters Afterlife. After a Lackluster Reboot from 2016 from Paul Feig. We Finally got a GB Sequel Film that gave us Everything we Wanted Instead of Things we didn't want.
While I prefer the original 2 movies from the 80’s, I will say that I absolutely love what they did in this sequel. This is how you do it correctly!! It had all the nostalgia “feels” as well as introduced new characters that were endearing. Phoebe is just precious and you can tell she is Egon’s granddaughter off the bat. She even talks the way he does. Love it! I cried too at the end when Egon’s ghost showed up. 😢 Can’t wait for more sequels. 🤗❤️
Did you catch the 'Easter Egg' at 8:50? The theatre's marquee says "CANNIBAL GIRLS', which was a 1973 movie directed by Ivan Reitman, starring Eugene Levy. It's the same movie that was playing at a cinema in GHOSTBUSTERS II, when a woman came out of the cinema, and her fur coat came to life and went off down the street. I think I was the only one in the I-MAX theatre where I saw this on its opening evening to spot that call-back.
Dude mega point for being the first reaction out for this that I’ve seen. I cried both times in the cinema at the start and end of this film, I love it as a hardcore Buster it’s my top out of the OG movies.
I definitely feel ya on your opinion. Afterlife was an amazing sequel that was built well from the original Ghostbusters. I really loved the new characters and loved how respectful it was to the older generation. I also feel it has a Amblin like vibe that made it stand on it's own. Happy you enjoyed it. 👍
You just might be the very first person to do a reaction video of this awesome sequel. I'm glad you enjoyed it very much. I can't get enough of Ghostbusters: Afterlife just like Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II
The first movie will always be the best one, in my opinion. That´s when we were introduced to these characters and fell in love with them. But I gotta say, Afterlife was better than I anticipated. I thought I was going to dislike the idea of "children Ghostbusters", but in the end it was a story about Egon´s family and how they reconnected with him after his death. My only complaint is that they played a little bit too safe when they decided to rehash the Gozer plot line. It was a missed oportunity to do something new. But other than that, it was great. I cried like a baby when Egon helped her steady the stream. And seeing all four of them again was a dream come true, even with Egon as a ghost. It felt like Murray, Dan and Ernie´s way of saying to their friend Harold how much they miss him, as do we all. For all intents and purposes, for me this is Ghostbusters 3.
Even though they did rehash GB1 in the third act, I DID like how Afterlife expanded the lore on Gozer and Shandor. It was cool to see one of his operations outside of New York since he had a powerful cult.
I almost NEVER cry during movies but that ending really got me tearing up. Felt like such a heartfelt goodbye to Harold. Also I feel like these "passing of the torch" films can be tricky because you have to really make the young new cast likeable but I think the kids are perfect and I actually can't wait to see more of them. :)
Oh GAL was definitely more maturrly written and emotionally engaging than the first. I'm not even a big Ghostbusters fan and even I teared up when the original 3 showed up. I had full tears when Egon showed up to help Phoebe all Dragon Ball Z style 😂, and of course the hug at the end. MacKenzie Grace was AMAZING, and was incredible as the granddaughter. I can't imagine how a better and more respectful tribute could have been made ♥
That's not that controversial of an opinion. I can totally see why you like this film more than the original. But, it raises an interesting question: would you have liked this film as much if you had never seen the first 2? I actually also connected to Phoebe and the others more than the original Ghostbusters. Phoebe was also my favorite new character. I really want to see more sequels with Phoebe, Trevor, Podcast, and Lucky continuing to be Ghostbusters. PS, I honestly thought you'd find the mid-credits scene more satisfying. You kept saying in your previous commentaries how there were no consequences to Venkman's creepiness. That scene is a very karmic consequence to his creepiness.
this movie had me tearing up like when i watched the marvel universe films. well with MCU it was like a ten year investment. ghostbusters had like a long long break between the first two and this film. but still having seen the first two when they first came out, and then seeing Igon and the OG crew come together, it was pretty much in a way similar to seeing the three spider men join together in no way home. nostalgia. love this movie.
Great reaction. I can see why ppl today would like this better than the original. I love this movie, i also love the first. I wanted to be Ray growing up, the hyped up excitement is how i would get.. The original had a new world opening “feel” when u watched it in the 80s. This one is amazing, the nostalgic feel, the old footage, the final shot w/the 4 of them shooting together was a tear-jerker. Waited over 20 yrs for a new one and this delivered. Loved it & cant blame you for liking this more. Fun fact: the director of this one was in part 2, he was the kid who said “my dad says your full of crap” lol. Great reaction Eric!
This film was definitely a love letter to the fans of the first two films; rather enjoyed the way the film payed respect to Harold Ramis by having a CGI standee there, but not ruining it by having him talk. Also, you cut away from Ernie Hudson saying that he missed Egon; the way he delivers the line it seemed more that he was saying it to Harold. All in all, for me this was a worthy sequel and a rather good passing of the torch to a younger generation. Yes, the mini Mr. Stay-Pufts are adorable, liked the subtle Terminator 2 reference when one is 'killed' on the barbecue.
I respectfully differ with your opinion that Afterlife is superior to the original film, but I think that’s to be expected considering that I’m a lot older than you. I was a Ghostbusters fanatic as a kid in the 80s, and I love Afterlife because it feels like a love letter to fans like me. Watching these kids made me feel like a kid myself again because they were doing what my friends and I were pretending to do while playing in the backyard - helping the Ghostbusters save the world. And seeing Egon again meant so much because he was my favorite as a kid. I started wearing glasses at five years old so it meant a lot that one of my heroes wore them too. Great reaction video, sir!
Thank you for reacting to this! I still have a vivid memory of watching the original movie when it first opened in 1984, and it really looks like they did it justice in this sequel!

I really liked this sequel. It just lacked the comedy of the first 2. But you could never beat the cast of the first 2. They did as good as they could have for a sequel that many years apart.
Better than the first film? Absolutely not; it is a classic and cannot be matched. The comedy/wit, the originality, the cast... it was all perfect. However, this movie is definitely the best possible Ghostbusters movie we could have gotten modern day. A film with just the original cast would seem forced and outdated, a movie with an all new cast without any significant ties to the original would seem disingenuous and hollow (ahem, 2016). This was a perfect mix of both of those ideas that, while not revolutionary and while definitely heavy handed with fan-service, works really well with what it is meant to do: pay respect to the franchise while gracefully handing it over to the next generation.

This was a perfect mix of both of those ideas that, while not revolutionary and while definitely heavy handed with fan-service, works really well with what it is meant to do: pay respect to the franchise while gracefully handing it over to the next generation.
