Fanatics meant 10x'ing their profits not people in the hobby. It's working so far. Unfortunately the bottom 99% are not what you call "high end people". The better people.

So many new products have me thinking to myself, "...am I poor?"
These prices seem insane, but maybe I'm just a broke-ass?

Nah the prices are stupid. Product isn't even licensed yet but they want 1 of your organs.
This can be easily scanned.
buy the $8000 box, pay to scan it, open if good hits, sell for $10,000 on secondary market at least if it sells out, which it will. This is what the hobby has become, good luck if you're buying on the secondary market.
The Topps influencers always parrot the company line (not you Neo). “This product isn't for everyone, but Topps makes something for all collectors. Look, Topps Update is coming at the end of the month with a hobby box for under $100!”
But how many new lower end products are created? While every year a new "not for everyone" product is released - i.e., only for breakers. And all the while, the price for the current lower and mid end products go up, up, up! The hobby has lost me.

Wemby has a contract with Fanatics for 20,000 autographs a year so I going to hold out for the more reasonable Topps Saturn, Saab, Oldsmobile or Pontiac. DeLorean and Hummer will probably release right around christmas and run around 15k a box.

I did not think anyone could fail on a Wemby release but Topps did on the Sapphire. Yesterday they posted pictures of two autos per box. When it came time for EQL they swapped the pic out and changed it to 1 auto per box. Everyone in my chat that was going to buy pulled out because of the bait and switch. Then we see box openings and some sapphire boxes had no autos.
Sapphire baseball auto checklist is solid and not overly huge. You really have to hit a good auto to get money back but the chance is there. I think people will be good either way on that, rip, flip or hold.
Thanks for the update. Hard pass for me on the Topps Mercury. Even if I had that kind of money, I would look the other way. I do like Sapphire, but it is a little too steep for my liking, especially since the checklist is so large. And I agree on the Topps Update, disappointed they do not have a checklist out yet. That being said, I will probably buy and open a Jumbo. It is one of the few sets I try to make every year. Until next time....

One issue I have with the Wemby product is that it sets a precedent for the price point when one can expect a game used relic's game date, etc. is printed on the card. Topps really should be doing this more often. OK, maybe not with flagship baseball. But anything higher than that should have this information printed. Or, at the very least, a traceable MLB authentication sticker. It'd add so, so much to the fun of the product and re-invigorate interest in relics. It'd be even better if they could do it for game used stuff from flagship and Heritage. Just imagine a kid being able to find out what game Paul Skenes wore that jersey in. It'd just be so cool.
It won't happen, but I think it's a great way to improve the product for the fans.

We’re giving them credit for game-used relics in an 8k box 😂😂. Fanatics sucks and everything I predicted about them getting involved in this hobby is coming to fruition.
How are cards produced and released in 2024 still labeled "2023"? Fanatics is still going to be releasing "2023" basketball product in 2029. BTW in the fine print the "Insert Card" is not guaranteed to be signed, only ones numbered to /10, /5, /1 are signed.

Based on what Victor topps chrome autos are selling for this is definitely worth it. Multiple victor autos guaranteed, chance for a dual auto, people spend thousands on high end sets in the hope of hitting a top rookie and now you are guaranteed multiple victor auto hits. If I had the money I would buy it

Also, Skenes will 100% be on the checklist. He has rookies in a bunch of products, so of course he will be.
To be fair the update checklist always comes out late - they wait for every possible qualifying rookie.
There's something that Fanatics can do about the card not being a license card, they just choose to not do it. For an $8k box, they can be a collaboration with Panini to release a true license rookie auto and auto patch cards.

I know this isn’t for everyone. But unlike a lot of people, I have the money to afford this and I’m a fan of Wemby’s.
So for the average person, no. It’s not worth it. But for me, solely because I can afford it, I will get it.
But if you can’t, you can get Wemby’s in blasters of your favorite set.
I won’t be purchasing any of these. I am hoping for a new Bowman U football set

Topps gonna break up a ton of families man. So many people with the gambling genes gonna get caught up and get divorces. People with the means and people without. Imma sit here debating about a blaster or hanger while some folks out their selling their cars, homes, etc to get a $8k box not realizing that the lottery has better odds/payout than cards. 😂😂😂

I think Skenes will be in Update, he’s been in Pristine, Museum Collection and Bowman Chrome and I think Topps posted an auto of his for update on IG. I could be wrong on that though

Did anyone else notice on the sapphire baseball listing that it says collect all 700 base cards?!?! Chrome checklist had 300 and even that was an increase from last year, which made Chrome a lot worse. I hope that’s a typo or else sapphire is gonna be the worst product of the year.
Sapphire is like that they basically combine series 1 and 2 checklist.

Doesn't this product Essentially lower the prices of all these "big" wemby cards that have already been pulled, that folks claim are worth 10s of thousands of dollars, if you can get Essentially 3 wemby autos numbered to 99 or less for $8k??? Way to kill the vaule of cards Topps👍👍
the "insert" isn't an auto unless its numbered out of 10, 5, or 1. So only guaranteed 1 RPA and 1 auto per box.
