Adam really seems to be in a great place. He has seemed so melancholy for so long and it's great to see his energy and positivity. Good for him.
Agreed, but sadly the trade off is a downgrade in his music and writing, or so i feel.
Melancholy Adams writing was a lot more deep and raw, filled with emotion and expression, it was lyrical poetry and beautiful wordplay, whilst at the same told stories many could often relate with.
I mean the new EP briefly touches on that element in one of the songs, you can still hear that part of him is still there, but he is in a better space and mindset now.
I think Possibility Days was the last of the melancholy vibed songs he did, and also became one of their best songs to me personally in quite a long time.
@@DarkStorm909 I agree re: Possibility Days. I can hardly listen to that song. It yanks my heart straight out.
Chris Walters - I thought the same thing when I watched this 😊
Great guy, great band, bad hair decision.
@@DarkStorm909 i thought that too for a while, but it really is a case (As with so many records) of the more you listen to it, the better it gets
I think the some of the lyrics are really weird and there are some strange decisions made (not a fan of the computerised drumbeat on The Tall Grass, for instance )
But in retrospect, this record is poetry as usual from Adam, especially on Angel of 14th St. and Bobby and the Ratkings
Solid lyrics and poetry, then some really weird and wacky fun on The Tall Grass and a rock n roll classic for Elevator Boots
better and better the longer you stick with it!
I don't go a day without listening to Counting Crows. They write some of the best poetic lyrics.
FACTS!!!! And epic instrumentals that still sound amazing! one of the best 90s bands period!
@@FriendGaugeShotgun I agree.
Facts. I’ll never understand how they do not get - or continue to get - the credit they deserve. Adam is hands-down one of the best lyricists ever, in my opinion.
@@heatherh3397 ...I agree.
Yep.
I just remembered how stacked the 90's was when it comes to great bands. So many great vocalists. This guy included.
100%
Saw them a lot in concert, never disappointed, amazing voice and talent
Hell yeah. I love CC and I have only seen them twice. Would of been 3 but i went to see them in the 90s and my ride decided to leave...with or without me. So...I unfortunately had to leave. I was effin pissed to say the least.
Nah...Adam changes up the song so often when he sings it live....sometimes it sucks.
One of the greatest poets of our generation
Are you high??
Jesus..
This is the most I've heard Adam talk. I don't know much about him, but I do know I love his music.
Love Counting Crows and very interesting to hear Adam talk
Looking forward to getting the new album
Adam is awesome with or without dreads people!! End of story 😉
First one in. Was just watching old live shows, then saw this one. Was searching for “Goodnight Elisabeth” from “Live from New Amsterdam” best live version for sure 👍 I like the new songs too
Cooking in the kitchen with dad and my sister in El Paso Texas, we would have counting Crows on so loud we couldn't hear each other talk but we sure bonded through every lyric. August and everything after.. Adam you gave us memories to hold onto through your music.
Thank you
One of the most amazing songwriters ever born! ❣️
100%
Adam's a great guy. New him alittle in the early 2000's. Got to know the off stage Adam alittle and he was just as awesome. Glad to see he's doing well. Ive always connected to his music. Thank you
crazy to me how so many people give a flying F about this guys hair! he's a super creative and talented song writer--shouldn't that be what's notable? the four new songs are great by the way!
I agree he and his band have made some fantastic songs and records throughout their career. But you cannot deny he looked a lot cooler with dreads in videos like Mr. Jones, A Long December, Round Here and Angels of the Silences than he does here reminding people of Patton Oswalt
When a public figure has had a consistent signature 'look' for three decades and then radically changes it, it's noteworthy. Imagine if ZZ Top shaved their beards! Obviously the music is more important, but you can pay attention to both.
@@iamthebyron Was he wearing a wig?
I agree. I like the new cut, the new tunes, and the new video!
Just not recognizable as the guy we know from Counting Crows 😆
Guys, the Tall Grass might be my favorite CC song of all time rn... its so good
What a poet .. great songwriter
Adam's totally right about New York. I've seen a number of famous people walking around NYC just living their lives. I even saw Adam walking down East 8th St. in the Village about 15 years ago all by himself. You couldn't miss him - really tall, big dreads, beard, etc. He made no attempt to go incognito whatsoever. I was like, "hey that's..." and I just kept walking in the opposite direction.
Adam has one of the best most distinctive emotional voices I’ve ever heard I love the counting crows and always will 😍 1996 Toledo zoo Anna begins 🔥🔥🔥
Just got my tickets for the San Diego concert ! so excited ❤️
👍
I LOVE ADAM!!!!!!
Great interview! I don’t think I’ve ever seen Adam smile that much. 😊 AND he gave my college town Athens, GA, which I adore, a shout out! Now I need to come to Austin!
Great interview! I love the new Suite One and look forward to Suite Two (and Three, Four, Five . . .?).
To those who gave a thumbs down, wake from your mindless slumber, open your ears to great music, and be happy! 🙂👍🏼🤙🏽
This guy helped me to live.
Thrilled to see your 💔healed.
I love Adam and his music, Round Here especially meant everything to me in the 90s when I heard it on the album. I saw them live in Austin sometime in the mid-90s. That period of my life will always remind me of the Counting Crows, and it's nice to see him in this interview and know he's doing well. I also love the song Hard Candy, the lyrics are fantastic and remind me of my sweet Mom.
Adam Duritz is my all time biggest man thing. I don't know how else to describe it.
im old.. i seen the counting crows in minneapolis at first ave back in 1990/91 maybe 1992..
@@user-eg2iy6hp9x yup, and i cant find my old stubs, but i see that the counting crows sell a cd of a live show of this, Counting Crows - Thievish Magpies ( Flashback ) ( Live at First Avenue Club , Minneapolis , MN , February 3rd , 1994 )>>>> i didnt think it was this late..
Adams great !
To those who don't know he has a fabulous insta channel where he literally does cooking videos lol! He is awesome! 🙂❤️
Smart people are Cray it is wot it is love counting crows
Adam you are just as hot to me today as you were when i first saw you
I loved you then and i love you more now, wish i was your girl
Awesome!!!!!!!!!
What a cool shirt. He was wearing the band Love.
Texas, Adam!!!!!
I love you Adam…named my boy Adam 🥰
amazing songwriter!
"turns out i wasnt crazy at all it was the hair!", "i shaved it off..." 😎
So, an aging Deadhead. I think Adam's lyrics and music are the next best thing to Robert Hunter, and that says a lot. Their albums really caught my attention and appreciation starting in the 90s. Keep writing when you are ready!
Mrs. Potters Lullaby caught my attention. And, of course, Mr. JONES. HAHA
If the artist is great, their art will always transcend them and that's just the way it is. Anna Begins is one of the best songs ever written and sung in my opinion. It's undeniably spiritual- like a song of praise to one's own personal God.
I'd like you to sing again, Mr. Jones.
I Also LOVE the Guy on stage and off stage and watching You write Yea You do look taller I LOVE You Your Awesome I Love Your cooking and watching You cook to 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
I never got to see him cook I’m jealous lol
Chillin
Miss the dreadlocks‼️ I suffer from bipolar. So I get your trials and tribulations. JESUS helps me. 🙏 ✝️JESUS IS THE ANSWER♥️🙏
I think they are all moving to Wimberley and Hays County.
Andy Langer needs to get back into practice interviewing in person... too often, he asks a question and then cuts Adam off or asks leading questions. And, move the damn mic so we can see Adam speaking...
The movie 'Slacker' is always the sub-culture of 'Austin' to me.
Looks like a blend of Javier Bardem and Andrew Dice Clay without his dreds 🤣
Adam doesn't look like himself without his "signature" dreads.
It's like if Bob Ross would have cut his afro.
He went from hair to no hair fast.
Adam is the man, surprised that he doesn't realize that neither the muzzle or the shot are very effective
Look at this guy and then look up all the gash he’s had holy fuck how
Andy langer lol
Don't know why but for some reason in all of Adam's recent zoom interviews it looks like he 'powders' his face. Glad to see him with normal skin here lol
21 minutes and they never talk about the record. Waste of time.
It breaks my heart to see such a poignant writer and influential person in my upbringing demonstrate such a blatantly naive and uninformed disposition with regard to the topic deciding the evisceration of the Constitution and Bill of Rights with indifference. To hear Adam say he hasn’t eaten in a public restaurant in 15+ months🤯 what a domesticated sheep🤦🏻♂️😔
Musicians who could (or wanted to be) in the 27 club but weren't invited.......that's Adam Duritz
Damn.....I thought Adam may have been to smart to get jabbed. I still respect him as a musician. Good luck with that shit in your body bro!!
