    The company has since upgraded this item to the T9 Pro and it looks really encouraging. They put to rest all the bugs in the original T9, went with a lower profile tube buffer so they don't get pranged crooked quite so easily, and the new look -- while significantly different -- is a big winner with me. You should be the first to review it, since none of the other usual suspects have gotten around to it yet!

      @@mykandrew I'd be very interested in your reactions if you get the chance -- and, if you're willing, I'd be especially interested in how the T9 Pro's internal DAC stacks up against a price-appropriate stand-alone comp like the Zen Air DAC.

      @ThomasTVP Рік тому

      Encouraged by the good quality of the T9 I upgraded to the T9 Pro yesterday. Apart from the digital display (for volume, source and level) a major difference is the more powerful power supply (32V 5A). It has less of a retro look, but the bronze applications and the shorter, less wobbly tubes inspire confidence. What I miss in ALL of the reviews is the discussion of the BT functionality, which was flawed on the T9 (have yet to test it on the T9 PRO which comes with an upgraded BT chip).

    • @CinemaDemocratica
      @CinemaDemocratica Рік тому +2

      @@ThomasTVP If you happen to have a $100'ish stand-alone DAC, I would be extremely interested in your impressions of the T9 Pro as an all-in-one, vs bypassing the T9 Pro's DAC circuit to use it strictly as an integrated amp. It seems to me that if the DAC stage of the T9 Pro is good, and especially if it's noticeably good, it's going to be extremely difficult to beat in terms of the value proposition.

    I picked up a T9 on a whim about 6 months ago when my old receiver gave up the ghost and have been really happy with it. My only quibble is that the sleep mode timer could use a few more seconds grace, but otherwise it's a great little unit for the money.

    One of the other brands that this manufacturer - Nobsound - uses is "Douk Audio." The Douk Audio ST-01 is identical to the Aiyima T-9, BUT the ST-01 Pro differs from the Aiyima T-9 Pro in that it has the 3 knob setup and analogue VU meter, with the upgraded DAC and such of the Aiyima Pro. I just bought one, waited 3 weeks for it to arrive, and am very pleased with it thus far. From their eBay listing "Warm tips:
    1. Add a M1 button on the remote control of ST-01 and ST-01 PRO, to turn on and off the function that it will auto enter mute mode when there is no signal input for 10S.
    2. ST-01 PRO supports U-disk input to play lossless formats music.
    3. Add sensitivity adjustment of VU meter on its bottom, easy to set and match better with different input signals.
    4. Add three decorative golden circles around tubes and VU meter, looks more exquisite and luxury.
    I found it on eBay for those interested.

      I think you're asking too much from a piece of disposable audio. What do I mean by disposable? Well let's say it breaks, would you pay double it's worth to fix it? Or just buy another one or something else? The reason these Chi-Fi companies can sell at these prices is because their isn't much sophistication to the design. They are off the shelf parts that go into a device meant for a purpose. I am glad you found happiness within these types of products, it makes this hobby way less expensive!

    I paired an Aiyima A07 with the T7 preamp. I feel the T7 uses a better tube the Russian 6H3N. I originally used the Aiyima T2 which uses the 6AK5 family (6K4, 6C1 etc.). Felt the sound tended to be brighter with less bottom end than the T7. When I changed the T7 to GE 5670Ws things got even better. Then upgraded the opamps in the A07 to LME49720s and added 13,200 uf of additional capacitance to the power supply. Imaging, bass, and sound stage are extremely good. It's now my daily driver in place of my vintage Proton 930 receiver.

    I have had this amp for about 2 months now, paired with Moukey 3 ways. Amazingly good sound for the money.
    I wanted a headphone amp in line so I tried their A2 solid state preamp and felt that it severely deadened the sound. It's about 50 bucks and sounds like it would be. I then switched to their T8 tube pre/headphone amp and it is an amazing combination.

    I'm no hifi expert like you, and this is my first amp. I love it. just like you say! The stereo image is super. yes. It sings ! I turn up the bass just a bit. And that's only on a mediocre pair of speakers. I've spotted some Q acoustic 2020i speakers on ebay... think I will buy them. I run the FLAC from a USB into my android TV set top box through to a smart TV with HDMI, out of the optical cable to the amp. That way it's digital all the way into the DAC. Loving it.

    Is the 120Watt rating Peak? I imagine it would be. Getting 120Watts out of tubes takes a lot more than those 2 little tubes.
    Power Supply will only really improve the noise floor if it even has noticeable noise. Anything else would be plecebo effect.

    • @mykandrew
      @mykandrew  Рік тому +1

      The tubes are just for coloration of the sound to add that distortion we all know and love. However here are my gripes after using it for a prolonged period. It's weak, it doesn't have that great of power output. I want to put it on a test bench because I dont think the 120 Watt rating will hold up. Another gripe is that it clicks off after like 5 seconds of not using it. Its said that its to protect the tubes.... I think it's a serious flaw and they are just flipping it as a feature rather than a weakness. Overall, its ok for desktop use however I can probably find way better options for around the same price. I will probably do a follow up video sharing my experience with objective measurements.
