    Used a lot of flaps, but not full. It’s common to do so on the 737, the way its built, aerodynamically, and with small engines, it has higher approach and takeoff speeds.

    • @oscarb9139
      @oscarb9139 4 роки тому +2

      The 737-900 has high approach speeds because of the length of the fuselage. The higher speeds allow it to come in in a more level attitude so the tail doesn’t strike the ground during the flare. It was the down side of stretching the fuselage to increase capacity. The Max has a modified main landing gear to make it taller, so it doesn’t drag the tail on takeoff and landing. The engines are not “smaller”. They are proportionally as large as a 777 when you compare the size of the engines to the wing.

    • @Elnino2910
      @Elnino2910 Рік тому

      @@oscarb9139approach speed is not a function of fuselage length. And only the MAX10 has a modified main gear. The rest have a very slightly longer nose gear

    • @oscarb9139
      @oscarb9139 Рік тому +1

      @leeh2910 Have you flown a 737? I have. In fact I have been flying commercially since 1990.
      Now, approach speeds. I am convinced that the Max 10 could fly the same approach speed as the 737-300 with very close to the same deck angle. The problem is that the aircraft is significantly LONGER, which would result in the tail cone being the first thing to touch down on landing.
      It would also limit the nose up attitude on takeoff. So, Boeing sets the speeds higher so the takeoff and landing attitudes are much lower than shorter jets. I no longer fly the 737 series, but have half a dozen friends who teach on the jet and can easily get information. I also have access to the FM's for every jet my company operates.
      If you care to learn more, just ask. If you want to argue some more, feel free to do that as well.

      @@oscarb9139 based on your reply your knowledge is waaaay off for someone sitting at the pointy end of a jet. I suggest you pick up a PoF book and start reading.
      Like I said, it’s not got a modified main gear….
      The max 10 is significantly longer than the -700 but the FCTM has the same techniques. I can assure you Boeing don’t increase speeds like you say they do, it would render the performance on the shorter jets absolutely useless for what they’re designed to do 😂

No wind to fly into requiring the plane to do all the lifting, Very hot day where the air is less dense, The plane is close to max takeoff weight, The runway is short, or all of the above.

      This isn’t flaps 40. I think it’s between flaps 15 or flaps 25. maybe because it’s due to the short runway? LGA has a shot runway from my experience in flightsims. Almost slammed into the EMAS once when I tried to takeoff heavy on flaps 10

    That's not full flaps. Maybe 25 degrees which is unusual but appropriate in some conditions. I don't know of any transport category jet that uses full flaps for takeoff. Don't cheapen good videos with bad tags and exclamation marks.

      That's not full flap. Full flap on 73NG is 40, and the max it could take off with is 25 (I know AA uses F25 takeoffs at KSNA regularly). LGA - it's flaps 15 (it looks "full", though)

    Why full flaps

    • @rainbowkeropi
      @rainbowkeropi  6 років тому +2

      The only reason to increase flaps are for increasing lift to compensate for the following; hot days where the air is less dense which will lead to decrease in lift, No wind to help the plane, The plane is particularly heavy with cargo, fuel and passengers.
