No joke, hearing Bob explain the premise of the album along with the music gave me a much better appreciation for this album and rock opera in general.
Bob’s relationship with his father could put another spin on why he likes Zentipede so much. The rocksperience telling a story about General Inzanity snuffing out creativity and eventually being overcome by a rebel inspiring an uprising and overthrow probably spoke to Bob, since Big Bob never let his son change the menu and was overly critical of a lot of his choices in general. As a matter of fact, him not wanting his creativity stifled as a result of this and not wanting to answer to a higher-up could probably partially explain why he didn’t go for Warren’s tiki theme either. Probably overthinking it but it kinda makes sense. Then again Zentipede as a band just slaps in general, so there’s that.
Still, that's not a bad thought. Bob obviously liked to be in control of his environment and seemed to want to do things his way. Having a dad tell him "no" certainly brought out that rebellious side of him and wanting to be independent.
I'm not sure I liked the Big Bob episode. He was horrible to his son and I don't think Bob should have been the one to apologize. Maybe if they showed us some positive side of their relationship it would have made more sense.
90% of the time, if there's a story about a father and son, you can bet the theme goes back to the dad's dad.. or rarely, the son's son. dad themes run deep. I'm so glad Jim Dauterive got another big show after King of the Hill because you can really feel softer versions of Hank-Bobby plots with Bob and Gene.
@@bdp8102 They've moved into that more lately. I think the main reason Bob apologised is because he showed his Dad up in front of his customers (twice). Big Bob at least acknowledges that he was rather lacking as a father. Bob on the other hand, is an occasionally bumbling but always well-meaning father (which Big Bob acknowledges) and he knows that it's much easier to make that small apology.
