My wife and I did our wedding makeup ourselves, together! Honestly getting ready together was one of the most fun moments of the whole day, and it felt really representative of our vibes as a couple. I guess we could have done it separately to preserve a “first look” opportunity but I much preferred a chill hangout and makeup moment together.
Plus it gave me an excuse to buy a bunch of fancy stuff like Chanel le volume waterproof mascara. For me, a standout product was my Kosas lipstick in Undone.

Literally any time I’ve had a makeup artist do my makeup for weddings or special event. I always have to touch it up. I love the base that they do but the eyes are never quite right which I can’t stand

I got engaged young and we had to postpone every time. Someone would pass away within the month of our wedding, and we wanted to be respectful and mourn. Finally after 6 times of postponing, we went to the courthouse on a whim then went to a movie and ate at a truck stop afterwards. Absolutely no regrets!

I'm so glad you made this video. I'm not a heavy makeup wearer, and I had my makeup done for my wedding and really just didn't feel like myself at all. I still hate some of the photos of me from that day, which makes me so sad 😭
We got married last October, and spent all morning together before we ran away with our photographer for photos then returning and getting all our family photos and then having our ceremony. It was so much fun and so great because we got to enjoy the entire cocktail hour and reception with our guests. I also did my own makeup pretty naturally. Loved this tutorial! :)
Honestly, if I had to do it again, I'd have done my own hair as well. The stylist did ok, but it wasn't anything I couldn't have accomplished on my own. The Luckiest was our first dance!
The story of your wedding is something to be envious of. I can't deal with how cute you are. It sounds so0o you with the witch, and the Barry White, and the crystals.
I did my own makeup for my wedding and I loved it! First of all, I knew that I would feel and look like myself. Second, it actually made me feel very relaxed to have some aspect of my daily routine stay the same. I do my makeup every day, so it felt familiar and comforting to do it myself even on such a big day. I just amped everything up a bit, as you described.
I also skipped the garter belt (weird) and bouquet toss (I didn’t want to ruin my beautiful bouquet since it’s made of dried flowers and balsa wood flowers, so it will never die!)
Me who is never going to get married ever watching a Kackie bridal video and taking notes 😂😂😂. On a side note I’m incredibly grateful for your honesty and candor on weddings Kackie. Keep on keeping it 💯💯💯.
For foundation I would recommend RCMA Favorites Palette. It has 5 shades inside that can be used as foundation and/or concealer. I have it in shade "KA" (fair skin tones). You can find/make perfect shade for you with it and it stays put.
It’s funny how when Kacki’s putting on foundation I get anxious till it’s all done evenly, like I’m doing my own. (“Get that spot, go back over there!”) Thank the Goddess I could relax when she finally went back to the left eyelid area!
The contour bronzer blush for cheeks and eyes is the best tutorial I've heard in a long time.

I had a cheap, fun wedding without many big time regrets. I do wish I had skipped foundation. I didn't have a good match because I never wore foundation in my regular makeup. I also wish I knew about Certain Dry, the only antiperspirant that has ever kept me from being a fountain.
Same here on the foundation T-T I recently repurchased the same CC Cream I wore on my wedding day and was SHOCKED how yellow it was. I guess I was just fine with that back then lol. Now I know better but eeeyup. Guess our photographer put in some work

I didn't get married until a month before my 46th birthday, so I'd had a long time to plan. It went through several iterations until I took my favorite things and we got married on the beach, at sunset, on the 4th of July. We had a casual dinner before, then took some pictures while family and friends were eating/visiting. I had those close to me there, as well as about 1,500 people I didn't know on the balconies of all the condos within sight! Pictures were the most important thing, so I ordered my dress; altered it myself; decorated the conference room at the condo; got the "Winn Dixie ladies" to make the cake and sandwich trays; and just had a ball visiting with my guests! Find your favorite things and build around them!

I'm definitely with you on the partial meh of it all. My first marriage ended very early with my husband's death. My second marriage was a disaster. I found the person I'm hoping is my charm in my late 30s and I proposed on a grim winter day when we were on a dog walk and he was holding a poo bag. I just want to be with the guy and be low-key about nuptials but rather adorably he's turned into a bit of a groomzilla because it's his first wedding and he's Indian. So yeah, I'll take your tips as a basis and then probably go a bit wild with colour. My biggest challenge is coordinating my face, as my skin is wan and yellowy green and my lips are death lavender. 😆 I've been therefore watching all of your art math videos with great interest! I did my own makeup and hair because I was young and broke, makeup and hair was a hobby, and I was (still am) really into vintage style and knew the only way I’d be happy/feel myself was to wet set my hair for curls to last all day and wear red lips and a baby winged liner (classic though, not garish). My dress was also a tea length lace vintage style. I used the urban decay Gwen Stefani palette because the pale mattes and subtle shimmers were perfect for me! And I have a great picture of me doing my face by the window through the mirror of that palette with my hair still in perm rods and it’s one of my favorite photos from the whole day.

My husband and I had a similar experience with our wedding, it wasn't at all what we wanted but we caved to family pressure. We couldn't afford a honeymoon at the time, so years later when we could we actually eloped and had a vow renewal as a do over. It was exactly what we had wanted. I did my own makeup on that day and was very happy that I did
My favorite photo from my wedding is a candid a friend took of me and husband dancing. I have it framed and I turned into this cool print done by an Etsy vendor.

I feel so seen watching this. I *loathe* weddings. Always have, and have felt like an a-hole for it bc they seem to be universally loved by all. I have never wanted a wedding and, like you, would be fine just being married. Every time I see someone I know post their engagement photos on social media, I pray that I don't get invited so I don't have to make up an excuse as to why I won't be attending 🙏🏼

I am cracking up, and this is a terrible thought on Valentine's Day, but, definitely do your own wedding makeup. As you all know, about half of us will end up throwing out/cutting up/burning (or permanently archiving) those pics, so don't waste money on a wedding makeup artist, get some solo pro pics of yourself w pro makeup on a random Tuesday - you'll look gorgeous AND you will definitely keep those forever.

I also NEVER wanted a wedding. We pledged ourselves to each other on the top of a mountain. We later did do a church ceremony, green velvet long sleeved dress, 25 guests, and an RV waiting in the church parking lot, so we could ride down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Still had family drama...but a grand ol' time was had by all.
People started doing a first look photo shoot instead of doing photos at cocktail hour like it was traditionally done. Call my sister did this and it was the first time I ever saw it so I thought it was kind of strange to do photos before the wedding even happened But I totally get it now they were actually able to enjoy their cocktail hour and mingle and talk to everybody instead of missing so much of their actual wedding because the photos. So I think this is a really cool idea that people started coming up with as long as you don’t mind the groom seeing you in your dress before walking down the aisle lol.

I did my own make up for my wedding. That boiled down to black eyeliner, mascara and red lipstick and I felt awesome. I had my make up done once for my quinceañera and hated it so much I was like, nah.

I got married in a reserved restaurant room with just a few family members. no professional camera. how would your wedding day recommendations change for a more lowkey wedding? not because a more lowkey wedding would require less makeup, but because the environment in which the makeup is worn is different.
I love going to weddings, but every time I've been at one as an adult, I think, "I never want to get married." It just seems like if I was at the center of that storm, it would be my own personal hell, but as a guest, it's a lot of fun.

It's interesting how we go about looking at our faces and try to choose structuring makeup that works with our native undertones. I'd look like a strawberry clown with what you've gone with. The absolute best contour for me, for example, is MISSHA smoked hazelnut. Can't find a cream contour that comes close, so I'm perusing cream eyeshadows to see if there's something in that arena, because it certainly will not exist in cream foundation formulas. All the ones I've tried thus far are too dark, but might work well for photography. Not planning on getting married - did that once 33.5 yrs ago - will never do it again. We eloped to the courthouse, btw, and are still together.

I did my own makeup for our wedding too! It looked great and very natural. I used very light foundation and a tiny bit of concealer with the focus being the eyes - so me. Only thing is, I wish I had a more long wearing lipstick on, as the hydrating one I chose disappeared quickly and I’m the bride without lipstick in all the photos!! In our panic to get to the church quickly we totally forgot to even take a lipstick with 😂
I was not a big makeup wearer when I got married, but I always wore eyeliner. I had my makeup done at the MAC counter, and they did basically no eyeliner because they wanted me to have a more “natural” look. I was 24. I wish I had spoken up. I looked fine, but my eyes looked so naked to me. Otherwise, everything was great.
You recommended the ethereal eyes palette instead of the unobtainable wayne goss buuuuuuuut that shit has been on my watch list (both sephora and the mbm site) for three months and I don't think it's ever coming back in stock either. Tin foil hat theory alert: I think they're keeping the listing simply to lure people in and dupe them into buying a subpar foundation. I'm not bitter, you're bitter!

I was married 20 years ago in a remote area. I did my own makeup and oddly now with my aging face I have recently returned to techniques I utilized then, albeit with the ever so much better products that are available now. (I was contouring with Kryolan pencils.)

Damn girl, your wedding story is exactly why my husband & I eloped on a private balcony overlooking a California beach at sunset.. & didn’t invite A SINGLE FUCKING PERSON! 😂 Fortunately for us, my in-laws gifted us $10K when we got engaged to put it towards whatever we wanted & unfortunately for them, we chose to go straight to the honeymoon & get married there alone without them. 🤣 I cannot stress this enough… IT. WAS. PERFECT.
But don’t get me wrong, I am an only child & my mother still guilt trips me (it caused her to start smoking again 😆) even though, 2 years later, she did EXACTLY the same thing! lololol
My ONLY regret that day is how I did my hair.. 😆 I’m much better with makeup, okay? But at least my lash extensions were phenomenal! lol Luckily, we didn’t have professional pics taken anyway, so I guess it really doesn’t matter. 14/10 😂👍🏻

I’m getting married this year and feeling anxious about my makeup so this was timely! I do think I want to look better in person than on the photos…and I don’t like the look of a lot of makeup on me personally…will I look awful in the photos? Lord. At least this is all wonderfully unimportant in the end. ✌️

I went a tiny bit heavier on countour and mascara than usual but otherwise I did everything just trying to look like myself in person! Maybe lashes etc would have been better for photos, but I don’t regret prioritizing comfort day of! My wife did even less than I did (no foundation or contour just primer and concealer) and looked beautiful in person and in photos.

I got married when I was young and hot and didn’t need much makeup 😂 the good ol days. I do wish I wore some individual lashes or natural looking falsies tho. i pretty much hate everything about my wedding except my husband 😂 I was 18, broke, and a 100 pounds heavier than i am now. I did my own wedding hair and makeup which consisted of my normal everyday makeup which was basically bare minerals and mascara. I looked so plain and it was 2008 so i most certainly did not have eyebrows and of course no one told me that you can’t wear makeup with spf in photos Thankfully i was too poor to afford a photographer either so there aren’t many pictures anyways. My parents were also going through a messy divorce at the time and got into a huge fight at the rehearsal the night before which made my dad say he wouldn’t officiate the wedding the next morning unless my mom wasn’t a part of it. Maybe the shittier the wedding the better the marriage though because we’re going on nearly 15 years now! 🤷♀️😂

Okay, so I'm officially old, but there was never any thought about having anyone else do my hair and makeup at my wedding.
I like the Charlotte tilbury powder but I stopped buying it for the same reason! I don’t know how people use it under their eyes cause for me it just makes everything WAY darker and looks terrible under my eyes. Around my nose, which is always a problem area, it’s great though

My wedding is postponed indefinitely due to inflation 😵💫🫠 but when it finally happens I'm definitely using this video as a reference. Also I love the idea of getting pictures out of the way on a day before the actual wedding. I find getting my pictures taken so tedious and boring. I just want to party on my wedding day 🤘
