What a Dream setup for a 2 week Nordcap trip , hope for you that is on your bucket list , just a Dream for me , but would like to see a video of a jimny trip to the Nordcap
From factory is does say 30kg yeah , been jumping on my roof rack , sleeping in the tent , even had a big friend and his daughter get on to and nothing to see where it carries. So I'm not that worried :-)
@@LifeofSmokey yeh my only concern is insurance, if I were in an accident and had 80kg on the roof, I would lose all cover and need to pay everything out my own pocket regardless of who is at fault.
It's not that 30kg is the max the roof can physically support (modern cars are designed so if they roll, they won't crush - the roof is strong) but rather the handling when the car is in motion - it's all about centre of gravity. The lighter and taller the car, the less weight you can put on the roof before handling becomes.... interesting. The Jimny is very light and quite tall, so the max weight that can go at roof level is low. Obvs Suzuki are very conservative for liability and PR reasons, but if you're going off road, it pays to be conservative. I'd push it a bit over 30kg to be completely honest, but 80kg? I don't think I'd feel safe at highway speeds or off road - you're only one swift turn or hole away from rolling it. I hoped the Jimny XL would have a higher roof rating (being almost 100kg heavier as a vehicle) but it's the same. FWIW you can get roof tents in the 40kg range, which would be a good (if not technically within the limit) match for the Jimny, but you often are stuck with soft shells.
It’s irresponsible for him to have called this the ideal “off-road” setup. As you say, the Suzuki handling gets questionable with weight on the roof, many say 60kg is where they’d push to. This tent, plus the rack he’s using is 110+ kg. Horribly overweight.
Pretty sure the Jimny has a total rooftop loading capacity of 30kg, not that you cant put more on but you wont be covered with insurance if something happens and you overloaded the roof. love the idea, but there really isnt a rooftop tent that the Jimny can legally carry, cant really carry anything on the roof with such a low rating.
how does the car go with that much weight on the roof? You have a 270-degree awning, rooftop camper, and roof racks. The legal weight limit on the roof of a Jimny is 40kg
You cannot put a rooftop tent on any car, if the roof or rack isn't designed to support that kind of weight you could do severe damage to your car, risk your passenger's safety, void your manufacturer's insurance etc. You will also impact severely the stability of your rig in off-road conditions by creating a higher point of gravity. I've seen so many people put rooftop tents on a Xtrails and co and destroy their cars with the racks ripping off their mounted rivets. There are ratings for a reason.
sure you can. Just check up the Roof Kg Limits (dynamic and static). But if you can put a Rack on your Roof there is a tent for it. You cant put this on it. But a light shell Tent which weights like 20kg is possible on any car. So hes right :D But you are right if you say you cant put any Rooftop Tent on any Car if it has a Rack on it :D
I have been thinking about it , but I have seen a friend's video when he came just a bit to short land in his backyard and crashed on top of the fence really hard lol.
Viewers love to watch more videos on Jimmy because it's launching in India so upload more on this.
FINALLY a new Jimny video ! Great content 👍
Finally a Jimny video in 2023. Thanks Smokes 💨
More coming soon I hope 😁
Eindelijk, de jimny is terug. Heb ze gemist…❤

Sweet set up!! Listen to all the birds over there in winter! Pretty dang quiet in Ontario!🐦
In Belgium we don't really have long ice-cold winters. Underneath my garage I got like 30 birds nests going on , that's the sounds you hear :-)
not gonna lie , i found your channel 3 hours ago and i just love content & jimny car 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Vickywood Bamboo!
Wow! I really like Jimny!
The Jimny is so cool, like a marginally more modern Lada Niva.
Lovely Lovely.
Dein Jimny ist so geil.
Wild Land Drivers have a roofrack that increase the weight on the roof to 85kg.
Very nice
Is the Jimny ok to carry the 80kg rooftop tent? Isn't the Jimny rated for 30kg max?
Das muss man nicht so eng sehen. ;)

Insurance.....

I’snt this rooftent too heavy for the Jimny ? It’s 90kg and Jimny says it’s allowed up to 30kg
I have had myself , 1 friend from 90kg and his 16 year old daughter inside the tent when I was showing it and nothing moved or got damaged 😁
Hey, how much does it cost?
thanks for the video, may i know what's the brand of your car side tent please ? it looks very cool, thank you.
Rhino Rack is the 270 degree batwing. Really good quality 👌
@@LifeofSmokey thank you so much :)
@@pinchengchen you're welcome. You can also buy optional side panels to turn it into a full tent 😁
@@LifeofSmokey wow, that's very nice, thanks for the information :)
safe from bear attacks xD, Did you ever see what bears can do :D ?
No and I don't want to 😅😁
may i know sir the name of the tent and the rack you used
mooie vid m8.. maar camping is niet mijn ding, een mercedes break wel, slaap liever in de koffer... LOL
haha feit!
Dude, the Jilny is given by Suzuky to support a max load of 30 kg (yeah 😂) on the roof, how could you put this heavy tent on it without damages ?
No idea , got inside the tent with my buddy who weighs 100kg and no damage what so ever 😅🤷♂️

is het nog wel rijdbaar met al deze assecoires
Cool setup. My new jimny is arriving in a few weeks. Is it true that in Belgium I need to take it to “autokeuring “ before driving it?
A new "cargo/lite" version needs to go every year. Not after you just bought it new no worries 😁

@LifeofSmokey don't be like him and you'll find a new amazing hobby 😉
Just because you can put an rtt on your car it doesn’t mean you should… most cars aren’t rated to have an rtt on the roof…
If you were given an ultimatum to keep only one car: Would you keep the Mercedes or the Suzuki? 😅
Suzuki :-) Cause I can walk in the store and buy another Mercedes tomorrow , but the world is all out of Jimny's haha
luckily, I have both.....
Why so you spend so much money for creature comfort, go out door with tent.
