I recently had this happen to me. They explained my partner had to be home because we are both listed on the deed and the door decision is apparently very important and both parties have to agree and the installers want to know everyone is on the same page. It was weird but I kind of get it?

OMG! This is so typical. I'm the decision maker too! I had an old guy, AC guy, who, when I told him no way was I paying his price, said "Can I talk to the man of the house then". I reported him to the company and chewed him out also. They kept apologizing over and over.
Everytime I need a quote on anything, inside my home or if I have to go somewhere, I always set the time limit up front. If the quote apt is at 1pm, I ask "how long will this take, I have to leave for an apt at 2pm so I have one hour blocked for this" and all the other things you also said. This keeps us on a timeline and then they are forced to move quickly and cut the bullshit. If they say they need more than 1 hour, I say all the other quotes I've gotten took them about an hour, I am not rescheduling with you, I will just go with another quote.
This just happend to me a few weeks ago, I posted a motorcycle for sale on Facebook. The guy and about 5 of his buddies showed up to see it and as I was showing him everything my husband comes out. He looks at him and goes “would you take 3,000” my husband looked at him and said “ask her, it’s her bike” and I was like no absolutely not. He bought the bike 🏍️ 🤦🏼♀️ It was MY motorcycle, posted on MY Facebook, messaging with ME I can’t.

Apparently they tried to push and he just kept reinforcing the message that the wife (aka me) would handle that stuff.
okay so I live in the Dayton area as well (Centerville) and my ex was hired as a sales guy at one of the local roofing companies but he literally had to QUIT during his training because of how icky their entire system was. They wanted him to go door-knocking on random people's doors and tell them their roof needed fixed (whether true or not!) and do ANYTHING POSSIBLE to keep the conversation going. They had training videos telling sales people how to find something around the exterior of the house to compliment (like their flowers) to get them hooked into the conversation! My ex said that he even heard the other sales guys bragging about not leaving and keeping the conversation going when an old woman told them she wasn't interested multiple times. it was all SO GROSS! He couldn't bring himself to do the job and he was even a car salesman at one point 🤣🤣 As a woman living alone, I would be so uncomfortable if a random sales guy wouldn't leave my home. That would be a call to the police lol

if you haven't checked already, you could ask your energy company if there are discounts for updated heating/cooling systems. A lot of them have incentives for installing energy efficient devices like that. Just a thought! :)
Tbh I don’t really understand the idea of one spouse (either sex) being the “decision maker”. My husband and I make every *major* decision together as a team. Neither one of us wears the pants in the family cause we are partners. 🤷🏻♀️ so I would discuss house stuff with my husband not to get his permission but to make sure we are on the same page and he would do the same with me. To me that’s just mutual respect.

I’m not single, but I live in my house alone, my child is at college. Anyway.A couple of years ago I did some remodeling and also got a new HVAC system. Getting quotes was so infuriating so I asked my youngest brother to deal with them. They did the majority of the install then told my brother that they couldn’t do the gas part and we needed to find someone else! Then proceeded to make it seem like my fault because I chose gas. I was like…sir you could have at least told us or suggested all electric if you couldn’t finish the job! It took months to find someone to come behind them because most people wanted to do the full install. I literally hate these house repair people.

Always remember it is okay to hate people and hate people’s speech because it is not one’s responsibility to like everyone in this world nor is it one’s responsibility to like what others say. Surely one can make it their responsibility to like everyone in this world and or like what others say but it defeats one’s purpose of CHOICE.
I think it’s funny because sometimes I blame my husband for why I don’t want to make a decision. If I happen to answer the door to solicitors (which I never do) I always tell them that I’m not interested because my husband isn’t there to talk to and I don’t want to change anything without him lol 😂😂 It’s an excuse so I don’t have to talk to people lol
YES I’m so sick of these companies literally doing a whole presentation for a SINGLE quote. My husband and I had a company come over to look at tiled shower install. The guy sat us down, pulled out a laptop to give us a presentation and mini models of showers like BE FOREAL

My system broke and we were told it couldn’t be fixed and we needed a complete new system ($24,000). We said no had another Tech come out and turned out to be a $40 fix that my husband did himself.
