I think that David is marvelous! God bless him! What it all boils down to is this: Do you love your freedom and sex more than you love God? Pure and simple. Andrew is merely making excuses for gay Catholics and saying that the Church condemns gays to lives of despondency and loneliness. But that's simply not true. David is neither despondent nor lonely.. And think about the thousands upon thousands of both gays and straights who lacked any kind of self control, who suffered terrible and early deaths via HIV-AIDS. Neither God nor the Church are simply disciplinarians nor "party poopers"...they merely love us and are trying to protect us from ourselves. Andrew says that it is cruel on the part of the Church to demand celibacy from gays, and yet never says that it's cruel to demand it of single heterosexuals , priests or monks.
You were very brave telling your partner that you wanted to be chaste. Not sure I could have done that for fear of rejecting him - what he heard I would have been scared my partner would have heard. But you partner obviously loved you heaps.
I'm not gay. But I will admit Andrew simply makes sense on this. Unfortunately, despite all of the profound wisdom and knowledge within the Bible. The Bible itself does not make sense on this.
When the church uses the term homosexual person it is out of generosity that they recognise the dignity of a person struggling with same sex attraction. The church IS being positive.

Mr Sullivan is completely wrong. The Church is concerned about homosexuality because there are those who want to change the Church's teachings on sexual morality in order to allow for homosexual relations. If one teaching is changed then there will be a knock on effect for many others as well. Its not an isolated issue- it has ramifications for marriage, for pre-marital sexual acts, etc ad infinitum. Furthermore if the centuries old teaching of homosexuality can be changed then why not everything else? More importantly, those who want to change the Church's teaching are doing so with the use of secular philosophies; its not a movement that has its impetus from within the Church.
Thank You David for your faithful witness to the Catholic Churches teaching on human sexuality. You are a great inspiration ! As a separated Catholic desiring to live my vocation in a chaste manner I feel that there is a strong bond of unity between all of us and I think that we need to promote that in our Church and in our society. It could really rock the world! I am also grateful to the members of the audience who corrected a few of the many inaccuracies in Mr. Sullivan's discourse. Sad to say, it was all one big distortion.
How many artifacts did you want to buy?,the Vatican wants to sell some but ,there not solid gold there gold leaf ,but they looks nice right? The Vatican need more money,because it has about 2,000 immigrants living in the Vatican right now,and if you wants to make any donation,to Caritas.org,the biggest Catholic humanitarian organization in the world,or maybe you want to help one of the 10,000 charity Salecians organization for immigrants or the Catholic Banks of foot for the low income families or the dining rooms and shelters for homeless,or maybe for the orphans of the war,and mafias we need more schools for them,Did you want to give to any of this organization a donation,? It's easy to hate and judge when we only see from out side the walls.
Poor Andrew. He wants a cake and to eat it too. I got divorced in the church and didn't get remarried. The rules were the same for me as they are for him but he wants to bend them. You don't get to bend the rules because you are different. He seems to think he was born that way because the gay lobby tells him that but there are many psychologists to say no but they are not allowed to voice their opinion because they will be ostracize. Many have claimed that something in childhood triggered that individual into homosexuality but those studies are ignored. Metaphysically what he practices is paganism. The Greek and the Roman pagan man on boy man. on man coupling. He also doesn't understand Canon law for a heterosexual couple as there certain things that men and women are not supposed to do. In Canon law States you shouldn't have an orgasm unless a man in a woman's body is connected. If Andrew were such a good journalist he would do his research on Canon law but it seems hes dismissing that as well and that's for heterosexuals. Canon law for heterosexual marriage and procreation has rules. Something Andrew is ignoring. And lastly why should a priest proudly proclaim hes a homosexual when any priests sexuality is irrelevant. How can you be a homeless sexual as a priest? Can a priest be same sex attracted? Well 80% of those sexually abused children were men on boy and they were priests in seminary schools. Another fact that Andrew has totally ignored but 2 studies have not.
Check out those youtube videos about conjoined beings....does God count them or discard them?........is it a sin to not be exactly like Adam & Eve?....arent conjoined people "married" in a way? Just something to think about using the gift of reason God gaves us!
