- A deadline looms - will we make it in time? The plumber finally arrives and Janie only has one more window sash to go. It's crunch time here at The League-Kempner House.
This once abandoned Victorian mansion is undergoing a massive restoration. Designed by noted architect Nicholas Clayton, this Galveston historical treasure is slowly back to life. Restoration of this historic house is not easy, and the extensive yard and gardens add to the complexity and expense. Preservation of the original features is high on the priority list. Follow the journey from start to finish. It’s a tough, hot, sweaty, and very expensive road but worth every minute of it.
The League-Kempner House is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to saving this magnificent house.

Sometimes tons of little projects all at once, sometimes two really BIG, ESSENTIAL projects all at once. And I’m sure two essential projects that will make all the other ones just a little bit more palatable moving forward. Inspiration to us all.
It's all good but it all hit at once. Things will slow down soon with the summer heat coming and we will have used up all our money for big projects. The next one's going to be the fire suppression system. Ouch$$$
Most You Tube project channels are roughly 2 months behind. You are doing a wonderful job of documenting the changes and keeping videos in a logical order at the same time.
It's a good problem to have that so much work is going on. Things will slow down in the summer heat, and we should run out of money at the end of July so that will put the brakes on the big-ticket items. We will be in a great position to continue with lots of smaller projects that can be done by volunteers so we will keep moving forward.
I love watching you solve issues as they arise. Love this mansion! It is super that you took it on and are seeing it through. Saving history is so important!

We were just talking about that today. We've got a lot of serious work behind us. There's still a lot to do but it's manageable.
Will y’all be “open” during the upcoming Galveston Homes Tours? One of our favorite weekends on the island! If people don’t know about it, there are several private historic homes open for tours the first two weekends of May every year! The home change every year. It’s so fun to see how people have restored and decorated other homes that are not open to the public! If you’re in the area it’s a tour at your own pace thing and tickets are good for both weekends so you can take your time! We love to grab lunch at some local restaurants too! Great way to see the neighborhoods all around the island!
Hi. We have had several people ask since they will be in Galveston for the GHF Home Tour. We are trying to get enough volunteers so we can be open at least three of the four days.
We were just in Galveston and I made Mom drive up Broadway so I could get a picture of the front. It’s even more beautiful in person

I so admire your patience in taking care of minute details. As work moves forward, I love seeing the progress. Hopefully, I can visit the house soon.
This makes me laugh because I really have almost no patience for the details. I know they have to be done so I force myself to do them, but I like the big, messy projects. But, this house begs for the details to be done right.
