- DCS - A-10C II Tank Killer Fast INS Alignment Procedure
In this video we go through how to perform a fast INS alignment to reduce the startup time in the A10 and get you airborne and into the fight quickly.
I do stream on Twitch Monday through Fridays @ 1300 - 1330 AWST so be sure to come say hello and give me some crap / torniquethd
If you've got any suggestions for tutorials on systems and techniques, drop em in the comments and I'll see what i can do for you :D

Hope they help you out mate
An option that you may not have thought about is using the in-flight alignment.
When I'm in a hurry to get off the ground, I'll set for in-flight alignment and just take off using the HARS. It's not as good, and you have to fly by the seat of your pants for a time, but it isn't as if you're going to get to the target quickly in an A-10. While it's supposed to be used to align in straight/level, the GPS will correct for any velocity errors by the time all is done. Don't forget to do a HARS Fast Erect before take off.
Awesome ☺️ so does an inflight alignment get the same accuracy as a full ground alignment or is it degraded like the fast alignment procedure is?
@@TorniQuetHD It's been a while, so I tried and timed it. Loaded some gbu-38 and cbu-105's for INS tests.
Powered up from cold start, hit "in-flt" alignment as soon as the CDU test was complete. Got things powered and loaded, taxied, and was wheels up with HARS in 4m40s. With the In-Flt alignment, you won't get an INU ready indicator until it hits 5.5.0.1 or so, but it gets there. Went weaps hot and selected the GBU-38s, set up a SPI on the HUD. I had to wait another 10 secs or so for the GBU's to read 'ready', but all weaps dropped on target.
Again, this was NOT about a faster INU alignment. It still took about 8 or so mins to complete. I was, however, in the air and enroute very quickly. This would be useful for a scramble situation.
There were also several things I waited on before taxiing. I could get off the ground faster if I started rolling with one engine running and the other spooling up, and worried less about some of the smaller systems.
You can do a fast ins alignment in a F-18 if on land in 90 seconds and I can also be ready to taxi in under two minutes. But on a carrier it takes 8 minutes.
You can still do stored heading INS on carrier mate 👍🏻
@@TorniQuetHD I thought you couldn’t on the carrier because waypoint one is moving not static.
@@RTSchramm that is prob true, but at this point in time you can still do one off the carrier in DCS. Probs a WIP to get full INS system functional
Thank you man Now i can do the Whole startup under 2 min Take that Hornet Pilots :)
I think the alt alignment is less accurate tho.
Thx, I learnt something new
Glad it helped my man 👍🏻
Bit late to this but thanks for the tutorial, recently getting into the a10 and thought ins was wayyy too long
Glad it helped mate, I haven’t flown her in a long time… I’m going to have to watch my own tutorials to refresh on how to start her up again I’m sure
@@TorniQuetHD Naa it's really easy, flick like 10/20 switches or so, engines to idle, and you're good
Nice one!
anyone who starts a video with "welcome back fuckers" istantly gets a like a comment from me. Love that shit.
Thanks, fkr.
Cheers matey 🙏🏻
