Super cool (and thanks for the shout out). I'm enjoying the SmplTrek and getting more comfortable with the workflow. Thanks for the inspiration to keep digging deeper 🙏
Awesome little jam. I love my microfreak, but I'm kinda jealous of the minifreak now. Been tempted to try and sell and upgrade, but resisting the urge so far.
I’m the same boat I’m tempted to sell mine to get the mini freak but trying buying gear for a month or two. I’ve got Dawless gigs coming up so trying to focus on them 😊
In 11 days you will have 5.0 update for the Micro… can’t wait for the granular synthesis option…. People with the Mini will not be getting such an epic FW update….
what version are you running in this video? I can't seem to make this work following step-by step your tutorial. I can get the sound to come through, I can input notes via the piano roll and hit play to playback from the external intrument, but hitting the keyboard keys while in a midi clip is met with silence. Any ideas?
@@FreeBeat The reason for the request is because I am so new to this and both would serve similar purpose to me. Both can write music and be samplers. Not something urgent. Much appreciated!
Great vid. Noob question though, I can play my Aira s1 no problem with Smpltrek but the sequencing it on Smpltrek is always silent. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
So keep in mind the SmplTrek is much less of a traditional sampler and more of a songwriting companion. It's more about using the tracks, scenes, and global audio tracks to craft and sculpt a full song. The 404 mk2 has more sampling options and features.
@Free Beat ok I see...mpc live 2 owner here...thought maybe the smpltrek is better in size in portability...and can use it with mpc as to finishing projects or recording your sequences live from mpc to smpltrek...maybe I wait they're probably updates that'll further its uses comparable to the sp404 thanks
Great video as always! Can you record parameter locks for the Smpltrek's internal tracks too? And do they have to be step-based or can you record knob twists like on a Volca? I just got a 1010 blackbox and am a bit disappointed that you can't record CC changes in its sequencer (even though you can sequence them externally).
Dude, you'd better make that into a full song. Sounding pretty awesome so far.
I hadn't really thought about it, maybe I will!

Absolutely, thanks for the support!
Nice industrial sound to that lil demo. Need to hook my SmplTrek up to my MicroFreak now
Give it a shot, it's so much fun!
Thanks for making this, very nice demo 👌 I've been enjoying using the Freak and the Trek together too just lately 😁
Yeah it seems to be a really potent combo!
Lovely jam it looks great the Smpltrek thar midi sequencing looks smooth.
Thanks for watching!
Just what I was looking for, thanks Freebeat! Love this thing
Glad to help!
Thanks for the tutorial.. It was very helpful. You make it look easy. Lol
Thanks so much!
Wow it's really that easy. Awesome jam!
Thanks Wigges!
I’m trying to control my Minilogue XD with the SmplTrek, but I can’t get them to sync. Do you have any advice?
Well that ruled!
Thank you!

The minifreak does look pretty cool! However I'm still plenty satisfied with the microfreak personally :)

newbie question: how to save the sound from Microfreak to the Smpltrek?
You just need to sample the sound! That's what the SmplTrek is for :)
@@FreeBeat Got it, thanks
Is it possible to erase single notes?
Great video!
Thanks!
If you HAD to choose between the Smpltrek and the Circuit Tracks, which one would you go for? Paired with the Microfreak.
That's a pretty strange comparison, but I would absolutely go with the SmplTrek every time haha. Thanks for watching!

For SmplTrek and OP-1, I am interested in your take on when you would prefer one over the other?
They are so different, that would be a pretty complicated video to make actually. Maybe I'll give it a shot though!

The latest update unfortunately broke the live recording loop mode. The first time a loop is played back it will always be out of sync.
Oh no! Admittedly, that's a feature I don't really use, hopefully it gets fixed in the next update.

Can it do midi over usb?
Yes, as shown at 3:07, it can :)
@@FreeBeat sorry. Thanks. I was walking into work at the 2 minute mark. Should have waited.
@@mpstrgc112 All good! :D
Is this sampler better than the sp404 mk2..am contemplating between the two

Ohhh very nice. Can it midi record on a loop?
A or B midi din adapter for microfreak ?
I believe it's a type b, it's whatever the microfreak comes with
@@FreeBeat thanks!
