Cutting the white wire did not work for me but replacing that silver box WORKED!!!I I want to thank you so much to the person that posting the item # for the radio transmitter and telling us to go to eBay. I bought The transmitter for $70 I paid $30 to install and Chevy dealership charged me $125 to unlock my radio. I am so happy to have my radio working along with my A/C. At the end of my misery these issue was affecting lots of electrical parts in my car. Thank you so much🙋🏻
Cutting the white wire worked for me.With so many 5th gen camero cars having the same issue, that means the radio is wired wrong to break down.Or it is a defect that GM did not know would happen with runnin time of the radio.Anyway, GM will not fix as a recall because the problem does not effect the safety of the occupants.
Hi. The radio issue started on mine a week ago. Thank you for help'n me resolve this issue even if it is temporary. Has the problem recurred again in your car since you have cut the white wire? Please let me know. Purchasing another head unit is not in my budget at the moment.
While this might be a temporary fix, it won't last long. The problem is the radio unit behind the display... the steel box. it also has to be programed for the car.. around $600 at the dealer.
Scent Mack I'm having that problem to. Did you ever get your car fixed professionally? My radio still has problems after I cut the white wire. I don't know what to do.
just so you know. the problem is in the radio unit behind the display.. around 600 buck at the dealer and they have to program it.. I had get one for mine
@@genebailey8216 I see a bunch of cheap receivers on EBay. But how can I be sure that it wont have the same issue? Also how do I get my Chevy dealer to work on this? If I bring it to then as a known issue they will charge me to diagnose. But if I already know what the fix/problem cause is how do I verbalize that to them so they wont charge me an arm and leg? What exactly did you tell them?
@@mysterybat35 good ones are not cheap .. we got ours through the dealer and it cost 600 for them to get the part and install, they have to program the unit to your car. but if you have your own then just call them and see if they will install the unit. all they can say in no, rite

I’ve replaced the box 3x keeps doing it
What Silver box
I wish someone could explain the root cause. Just cutting a random wire seems a little risky, especially if you need to reconnect it later.
I know that cutting the white wire works to restore your radio/CD player ,but someone could explain why cutting the white wire works.

Mine has been doing this for a few months. The issue is the tuner is going out. A new radio will be needed at some point.
Does the flashers actually worked?
