Good to see you doin good glad your back to doin some fishing soon I’ll be waiting on the notification for the next video looks like you’ll be a lot more comfortable in the upgraded boat I know how it is in the small boats I grew up fishing out of a 12’ V bottom with my dad and brother spent a lot of nights sitting still cause any movement would rock the hole boat like crazy. Have a good one
Can't wait to get out there in the new boat. It's a proper cat boat. Safer and more stable just got a few more things to do to it. And I know old small v hulls are super rocky. The foam pods I put on the 12 ft boat, were an idea from a product sold that was made to stabilize old small v hulls. I think it was called the boat belt or something like that. But thanks for sticking around I'll get some vids out soon.
Thanks man and glad to be back she's going to be a lot more stable and more efficient for sure. Plenty of light on this boat. Plenty of space plenty of storage glad you like the rig.
1660 would be sweet. And possibly will one day I'll feel a little safer on Kerr now. Still by no means a lake worthy boat when it comes to how bad Kerr can be, but on calmer days I'll venture out deeper now for sure
I have a question for ya since I’ve seen you do it many times lol . I’m heading to the James this Friday morning I never hit that water solo but looks like I am this time so can’t use the gill net anyways how in the world do you pull those big cats over the side so easily?
@@davescott3729 haha hard question. I may look small on camera, but I'm 6ft 210lbs, and have done manual labor my whole life lifting heavy stuff. Anywhere from tree service, HVAC, remodeling houses, etc. So it's got some to do with strength and grip strength, but not entirely. It's pretty easy to sense when a fish tenses up, and when it's relaxed and wore out. So the key is to let the fish fight and wear itself down.. A few seconds after they tense up, expect them to bite and try to roll. You'll notice when I release a big fish it's usually right when it starts to tense up. I know then to release it or get my thumb tore up, or even worse dropping and injuring the fish. And when I grab the net to pull in bigger fish. I grab as low on the net as I can so I don't have to lift as high. Hope it helps that's my technique pretty basic
It helped I’ve caught some big ones but with a net guy lol and I never noticed them tense up till it’s too late lol I’ll be looking for it now ,my poor thumb I need to get faster with the camera. I hope your you tube blows up there’s more of us Jon boaters out there getting it done
@@davescott3729 I hope it takes off too man. And yeah netting by yourself in current isn't easy. I drop the net downstream of the fish and let the current open the net, then just guide the fish into it rotate it to face up and pull em in.
@@JonBoatRiverCats I went the kayak route because I fish a lot of feeder creeks & because I'm poor lol but your setup is what my end goal is! Looking forward to watching you fish out of it.
Cool, your back. Sorry about the eyes. Love the new boat. Can't wait to see you at it again.
Thanks man. Just needed some time to re-evaluate. And was in need of a bigger boat. I'll be back on the water soon! Yeah buddy!
