not that psychedelics were necessary by any means but i listened to the original song on shrooms for 8 hours straight while drawing/ coloring. I've been a better person ever since that day
Underrated? He's one of the most celebrated and influential musicians ever to live. Almost singlehandedly changed electronic music forever and he's influence goes way beyond the genre.
My early 20s was the early 90s the Aphex twin symbol was everywhere and hearing this song after 20 years brought back such a flood of memories I just cried tears of joy. Getting to rediscover all his other songs too now, what a wonderful gift
Proppably my fav Aphex Track for rn, ex equo with: Ageispolis, Windowlicker, Nannou, Avril 14th, Pappy Mix of CtD and Icct Hedral There's something magical in this piece
i think he does the same thing in 2tone cambridge. at least letting everything fall into place at the last portion of the song. very mature tune writing.
I recently watched an interview with him and he said something that may or may not be true but I choose to believe it. He stated that after years of training he only sleeps 30 minutes a night and he creates his music subconsciously through lucid dreaming. That would explain why he's been my favorite music artist for the last 25 years and why he calls it Braindance, which happens to be my favorite genre of all time. Heliosphan is def my #1 fave track. It adds so much meaning to my life and it gives me great purpose to share this with all the planet Aphex children 🌏👽🦋💚
I have a very hard time believing it. Sooner or later the body is going to protest somehow and demand more sleep. Maybe he did it for a short while before he realized that he wasn't doing his body any favors.
To be fair, a lot of his interviews are done under pressure; he doesn't like having to explain his music or the process. This may be true, just warning that he's been a bit of a troll.
Good sir Richard... you dreamed, but could not have imagined would become. Maybe? Whichever way. Well done. You did it. Got weird and .... just kept doing it (they'll understand later. or not. who cares. just gonna do it). And you did it.
I am surprised when listening to this version. The original song is very calm, however this version has a more reactionary side with those sounds that are very Aphex too!!! excellent variant for a theme very appreciated by me!! // Me sorprendo al escuchar esta versión. El tema original es muy tranquilo en cambio esta versión tiene un lado mas reaccionario con esos sonidos que son muy de Aphex también !!! excelente variante para un tema muy apreciado por mi !!
Hi first album was his best album. Nothing he has done since has been quite as good as Selected Ambient Works Volume 1. That album is the smoothest, nicest and most together thing he has ever compiled. Its up there with the Beach Boys Pet Sounds as my most listened to record !!!
I have them all of course. I bought each one the very first week of their UK release on both CD and vinyl. Music Has The Right was the best, Geogaddi less so, Campfire even less and Harvest I played once. Even the titles of that album lacked imagination for me. I did initially like their sound but Ive just got bored with it now. So sorry Si Bob, its still Selected Ambient Works for me :)
Some people do what others cannot understand. And then, later, more do. Meanwhile, some understood the whole time. Without needing validation of others. Is what is.
Hugo Cerqueira fuck skrillex and his post about aphex twin - flim , skrillex is a piece of shit, i didn't have to listen to his albums/big songs to check out i only needed 1 song and a few it's jsut good for the mainstream but nto for someone who demands PROPER electronic music. Aphex Twin is a millionare and well deserved it over shittex
For playing/remixing electronic music live people generally seem to use a clip- based set up (generally Ableton these days) to trigger both audio clips and midi clips which drive outboard hardware. A decent sequencer can be used in place of a laptop running Ableton. Tracks are then fed through a range of effects which can be manipulated live. Palmbomen & Betonkust playing live at Dekmantel, Paranoid London's set for Fact London and Ross from Friends at Boiler Room are all great live sets
" bit salty on the edge"
fuck I can't unhear it
No drug in the world, nothing on this earth can make me feel like this, nothing.
I agree.
i kind of agree. but this alone has the power.
We are the drugs. We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of dreams.
Yep ! It Can sounds old fashioned in 2019 but it still rocks to me...
Now 69 likes lets leave it that way

If you listened to the original 13453 times and you listen to this superbe/analordish version , time just stops to run.

As Tom baker once said " Even my goosebumps have goosebumps".

i think he does the same thing in 2tone cambridge. at least letting everything fall into place at the last portion of the song. very mature tune writing.

He only was doing that while making SAW II

before dubstep, there was AFX.
We had some Aphex Acid before dubstep.
way before

omg love this man
this bass line is pioneeristic for that time, incredible...acid at its best, seems a little bit DnB e mostly a fast acid dubstep
Beautiful

chuck norris only dances to afx
This give me a nice strange feeling
You THINK it would shatter, it would probably just sublimate or turn into a plasma.
