- Carrying on the theme of Circles here is Circles. Bit of a strange word if you look at it for a while. Old DNB. Deep yet lighthearted, chilled yet bashment; this true classic gets me pumped whatever I'm doing, where ever I am.
Label:Astralwerks
Format:CD, Album Colours
Released:Nov 1997
Style:Drum n Bass, Jungle
I’m 50 years old but every time I still hear this it puts a massive grin on my face how I wish I could go back to them days

U right Ian i m closer to your age but MUSIC FOR ME IS AIR .CHOOSE LIFE .PEACE
54 years old here, and this music will always float in aeternum (forever).
Pink Pantheress sampling this is a good thing. The jungle community isn't as big as it used to be, so shedding light onto this masterpiece only opens a gate to a new genre for some.
And she killed it while doing it!
Unless its used on that cancer TikTok
@@Vitor20XX yeah no need to be one of those people who hate popular things. tiktok basically boosted pink pantheress but wtvr
Her producer sampled this
Couldn't agree more! And really, any of us oldies who lapped up DnB back in the day, who had come from Hip Hop and House and UK Garage - this whole area of music is based on sampling. Exactly as you say, we should be happy that more people will learn about the older classics!
how are people crying about pink panthress rinsing this when the entire melody of the tune is a sample of Bob James? The cultures built on bringing shit back!
Because people are fucking stupid, simple as that
@@FranciscoFJM pior que é verdade meu mano, a pink panthress é muito talentosa e as pessoas parecem que não entendem o conceito de samplear
literally says Bob James as the lead writer of the song and Adam F as the other lead writer?
@@iseck6932 that’s what it says when a sample is used it’s basically just credit
Pink Pantheress using this sample is only going to revive jungle music, and I fucking love jungle. Nothing but love for them for showing many the junglist style!
Adam F was one of few who made jungle drum n bass musical and not just a rave sound of noise.
Facts right there ❤

You are severely underselling how wonderful most jungle is
this music doesn't age. It sounds like new every single day.
I grew up with this, had the best jungle and drum and bass years, met all djs, Goldie, Fabio groove rider the list goes on
26 years old and it still sounds futuristic. That's incredible.
Sounds new cause all we do now is flipp samples to lazy for the real work
Beautiful
Song sounds just like a rainy day in London. Captured perfectly
I always felt it was a "clear, somewhat busy autumn evening in the city" vibe personally 🙃
Is this basically what London was in the 90's?
I’d say a sunny day in late 90s LA but we all have our own song imaginations
What about a late night stroll in a busy city whiles its raining
Sounds like being in London Underground during rush hour in 1997
That "Check check check" sound bite is so hype

What a great time to a dnb head, early 20's. I remember saying at the time to a friend of mine, that we will still be listening to this when I'm in my 40's Well guess what, 43 next month and I love this music more than ever.
Same here. I've still got my 1210s and loads of great tunes on vinyl. No space for it as we're a family of 5, so it's in the loft. And circles is in the collection
I was 13 in 1994 when i got jungle fever and remember hearing this on the big breakfast show on the TV while getting ready for school. Went to the metro centre in Gateshead and bought this on vinyl with pocket money even though i didn't have turntables yet. First record i ever bought and still have it. I'm 38 now and still got the fever. Big up yourself and all the OJ's still rolling iin 2019.
I have a wonderful sense of accomplishment making my 16 year old stepson listen to this in the car and him asking me to turn it down. Circle of Life.
Same as!!! It hasn't lost anything over the years, its gotten better in my books.
I'm 40 now but Ronni size got me up dancing to brown paper bag in the warehouse in Doncaster when I was 17 fucking brilliant and I'm a woman but it takes me back to dancing and ES

When i first got my driving license back in 1997 i had a mix CD that a friend of mine gave me with some classic tracks on it by Roni Size, Adam F, Andy C, Grooverider, LTJ Bukem... etc
My car was a shitty Nova and the sound system cost more than the car itself but i loved that car more than any other car i've had since.
Whenever i hear this 'Circles' track it's like a time machine that takes me straight back to those glory days of DnB and the great friends and fun i had at the time.
Enjoy your youth while you can kids because life goes fast!
I'm now 44yrs old and it feels like only yesterday i was a care-free teen with no worries in the world 😌
We've all been in a Nova like yours getting a lift to someone's house party with this track playing on the stereo 🤣
OI! Old, old Novas aren't sh*tty. They have very foldable seats and you can take a real lady out for a nice drive too :)
Nah man, I'm only messing! I bet your Nova was better than mine - only one wing mirror and four forward gears but it was rockin when I was 19. Bless you all :D
I also had a red Nova and loved it. Was my second car if I remember rightly. Me and my pals also had similar experiences listening to jungle/drum & bass and uk garage and also playing on decks around each other’s houses without a care in the world. Then you eventually have to get a proper job and career and before you know it you’re 40 ffs 😂
I enjoyed this story. For me it was my mom’s old minivan but we blasted the speakers I put in!

Timeless track from Adam F - one of my favorite DNB tracks of this era. I'm always amazed that is was first release in 1995 then re-released in 1997. Miss those days hearing this song and others on massive sound systems in some crazy warehouse party in the Midwest. Classic.
Very interesting that this track still appears in sets today, yet the rest of the ambient jungle scene is largely forgotten. I hope more people see this track for what it is - the tip of the iceberg of the golden era of drum and bass.
AFAIK it was called intelligent drum and bass 😉
@@seldom8075however the originators of jungle (basically the father of dnb) actually disliked that term, as it insinuated that other jungle and dnb was unintelligent.
Ambient jungle is definitely making its way back with loads of new mixes being made everyday.
This track gives me memories I never had. Bliss
I was never really into drum & bass. Probably because back in the 90's all the dudes (and I literally mean dudes, as in no women) in my local d&b scene were into super hardcore stuff with no melody or feeling. They didn't even dance. They stood around the dj booth with hoodies on slightly bobbing their heads, looking like they were too cool to have fun. But...I had a mix on CD called Junglized that had this and some other stellar drum & bass tracks. Man I wore that thing out. I've been looking for this track ever since. Thanks for posting!
This whole piece is delicious. I really love that he samples Bob James' "Westchester Lady."
Thanks for sharing, I hadn't heard it before. What a tune!
