Wow thank you so much for putting this up! I was 14 years old but I remember being at this game like it was yesterday. I cried like a baby and I'm not at all ashamed to admit that.
I remember seeing lemieux at his first practice at mt.lebanon rec. Center. The line was a quarter mile long to get in. When the scrimmage started he dominated everyone. I was the one in sports illustrated that screamed "our saviour has arrived ". I said to my wife something a penguin fan would never say at that time. Someday we are going to win the Stanley cup. Thanks for the memories mario.
@NJSniper03 Most of this is from the late 80's or earlier when Jagr wasn't in the NHL yet. Only the last few segments about the Stanley Cup win were from when Jagoff was on the team.
@StFidjnr i love mike lange...To me that is one of the best calls ever not only in hockey but in all of sports.I get goose bumps everytime I hear that call..I miss ESPN doing hockey,bc I don't get to hear the 2nd best play by play announcer ever..IMO!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think there's any doubt that he would have been the best ever if he was fully healthy. Like Ken Griffey Jr. but better cause he won a shitload of stuff.

His health. He battled Hodgkins and a host of other injuries. Never played a full season.
