In this video, Vinh Giang performs an incredible routine known as "The Lie Detector". The great thing about this trick is that it requires absolutely no technical skill at all. It's pure showmanship and presentation, and when performed well it's extremely powerful. It's an excellent way to use a deck of cards to explore human psychology and personal connection.
52Kards I love his passion in this. I think on of my biggest downfalls is not using simple tricks because I don't think it's that effective, but this guy however opened my eyes to it.
52Kards that's what I love about magic because of the showmanship especially if you can make it yours. I feel majority of aspiring magicians take a package effect and use as is rather than making it theirs and giving it flavor.
One thing about Vinh that's always stuck out to me is his ability to weave a story around a trick. He seems to talk just the right amount and it always seems like every word he's saying is important. It's mind boggling how he manages to take a simple force and turn it into a really powerful effect. good stuff
Please, please give us more actual performances to a live audience like this! These kind of videos are tremendously instructive regardless of the trick. It teaches us the approach, the hook, the patter, the reveal, and even how to leave gracefully. I'm sure a lot of awkward beginner performers like me gained a lot from watching this. Thank you Vinh and Asad.
Very similar to your last trick on your TED talk ;) It really shows you did this patter a million times because it's so elegant, stutterless and natural. Amazing job and thanks for showing us this!
Probably the most important lesson anyone could have given to me as I am just starting to learn a bit of magic. Thank you. I saw the move and I was wondering how the people on the table are stupid enough to not notice, and that's when I realised they aren't stupid, you are just too brilliant at doing what you do.
I do this trick all the time, glad to know I'm not the only one. It really is the simplest thing, but it's so much fun to play it out and see people amazed.
The trick is at 0:31 seconds. It’s the switch to the card he knows, then when he lays the cards back on each other, there is a slight turn on the deck where the split it. Genius switch…so quick
That's such a brilliant presentation ... Amazing involvement of the group of people ... Hats off bro .. I will dedicate more work on my presentations from now on on the very few tricks that I know .. Although would like to know one thing from you guys ... sometimes the trick itself is a bit lengthy ones, like a card turning trick by the professor (don't want to give the name, hope u understood) ... Would you recommend to add more presentation to tricks like that ... as the those tricks have a triumph effect in themselves ...
The fact that a spectator guessed the card was between 6 and 9 even before Vinh was great : it means that Vinh's presentation of the trick is logic and very well designed so that even spectators can try (and in this case succeed) to guess; and on top of that, it was a great convincer for all the other spectators because it proves that it is really cold reading/body language (when it's not). It shows that presentation of a trick, even a simple like this one, is everything. Great video !
Trouble is, once people know you’re a magician, it’s much harder to convince them you didn’t see the card. My magician friend tried the trick on me, and he performed it quite well, but all the impact was gone because I know he has good slight of hand.
Amazing trick, great content as always Asad. I think the reaction would be better if he'd hold the card with him, maybe on his pocket. I personally always feel when a trick ends like that ppl kinda think "is this a lie? Maybe this guy is a friend of the magician". I certainly do think that. But maybe it's just me.
That force was clean. I havent watched the tutorial yet, but i assume it was a force because it seems like it. It mightve seemed clean because the camera moved off the cards for a bit
Armon Parsa I don't feel there is anything *CLEAN* in the force.. This is one of the most fooling yet simple force.. i.e. anyone can do it without practice
"It's a difference between technical ability and showmanship." Vinh emphasizes at the end. Then all the technical fokkers nitpicking on the 6 being odd
Actually - looking at it again, it looks like it doesn't matter what card is on top. When he spreads the cards out at 0:23, he just looks to see what card is on top and keeps it on top with the criss cross cut.
Theres so many ways to force the card but i created one in my mind when i watched the video... when the cards have been shuffled and you spread them on the table, you can bend half of the cards where you want and before that you have to spread the card face up to remember the last card thats gonna be their card and when you bend the half of the card WHILE YOU SPEAK TO THEM (misdirection) you will know exacly what are the card...becouse they will cut the deck exacly where you want...
It's not a force. He even let someone else shuffle before hand. I have the deck that he is using the cards he's using is The Mint Raspberry version which is a marked deck.
He forced the top card, which he was able to glimpse when he spread the cards at the very beginning. It's called the criss cross force as he mentions at the end.
It's always hard for me to stand the "cold reading" patterns in magic. Most of those guys probably think what happened there is real. Art should enlight people, not abuse their cages.
then i don't get what your point is : magic is not an art because it abuse people ? "reading" is an abuse of people ? Agitating the imagination of people's mind is abuiusing their cage ?

52Kards that was awesome! I like the real lie detecting like they do in Lie To Me but this is a cool method as well
Its an awesome ender when people ask if you can reveal a trick or some method to have them rest.
Great

"Look at the people all around the room gathering... just to see... a criss-cross force being executed"
I LOL so hard 😂
Danijel Rakic mate when I. Noticed that it was a force I was like wth... noting more than that
Magic is not about trick it's about present and this guy killed it ...
“It’s odd… ok, so it’s a 6, a 7 or a 9” 🤣
hes so confident i didnt even notice haha
Very similar to your last trick on your TED talk ;)
It really shows you did this patter a million times because it's so elegant, stutterless and natural. Amazing job and thanks for showing us this!
3:16 6 is not an odd number lol
This was SO grinding my gears, lol.
Why is no one else concerned about this?
😂😂😂😂
I’m an idiot lolll
Well if you flip it then yeah
It's never about the sleight, its about the effect.
It's about the performance
Hannibal had a very fun presentation of this effect! I absolutely LOVE this effect
You are so impressive. You could of convinced him and everyone else the card was actually different. Showmanship! 10/10
Probably the most important lesson anyone could have given to me as I am just starting to learn a bit of magic. Thank you.

You can perform a thousand performances, but the reactions you get are priceless. Simple and effective
Vinh is pure gold. He really is quite brilliant. Bravo sir.
wow... i mean wow.... how magically you turned the simplest force into a great effect. its really about the presentation. thanks for the video man.
I do this trick all the time, glad to know I'm not the only one. It really is the simplest thing, but it's so much fun to play it out and see people amazed.
Can u learn if for me pls??
Can u show it to me please??

This video proves that showmanship is soooo important!!!! LOVE IT!!!! :)
Pulls off a beautiful cc force. Fantastic.
”Showmanship can turn a trick into an act”
I need to see him do more of this! I learn so much from watching him preform!
That was powerful! I really love how you interact with your audience. . Your such a good mentor. .
Amazing presentation. Made it so engaging
That was Very Encouraging and Motivating. 😊
I absolutely love these videos really hope you do more in the future
Wow amazing presentation and audience management great work Vinh
Would love to see more of this kind of content

Great presentation
Absolutely masterful.
I saw it! I knew it! That was so great to watch. They were eating out of your hand!

Thank you for using Mints in a performance video!
Trouble is, once people know you’re a magician, it’s much harder to convince them you didn’t see the card. My magician friend tried the trick on me, and he performed it quite well, but all the impact was gone because I know he has good slight of hand.
Brilliantly done
Vinh, you're fantastic
This is so good man!
I agree, simplicity is key.
Great example for we beginners! Thanks!
I love the way you performed it! I do this to drunk people at party like 10 times in a row and they think i am a mentalist xD
beautiful imma use this thanks mate
Great vid as usual!
One million mate!!
Really interesting! Thanks for sharing! Glad I'm subscribed to you :)
I would love to see more of these real life experiences and people's reactions.

Vinh,

That was really good
I am so Inspired...!
Super inspiring!!
Aaaah 😂 I love this trick. Simple but so amazing
This is so long than what it needs to be
Nice one!
anyone else pissed off at the lady with the flash on her phone? Like wtf lady
That bothered me for a second, but then I got distracted by the magical red-haired British Asian.
justinpatrickwilson Australian m8
Ruined the video for me 😩
That force was clean.
@@atharvadeuskar do you have a link to the vid ? :)
This is insane.
Turely amazing
incredible
I was like, "Cool. That guy has a Kentucky shirt on." Then he picked him! Shout out to my fellow Kentuckian (or UK fan).
"It's a difference between technical ability and showmanship." Vinh emphasizes at the end. Then all the technical fokkers nitpicking on the 6 being odd
1 question: if it was an odd card why did you said it could either be a 6 a 7 or a 9. Since when is 6 a odd number. 6:2=3
Vinh ur greaaaat!!!!!
Vinh rules
Damn.. great easy trick to warm up. Long build up though. You're so patient. Hahahaha
Why do a force when you have a marked deck?
Exellent you are amazing
I would use a peek instead
6m just cross cut force. wkwkwkwwkk good job bro!
52Kards Is Life, 52Kards Is Love ❤
Maaaaannnnnnn... Truely... Its the simplest trick but i guess it was best.
How does he ensure that the forced card remains on top after giving the deck to the first guy to shuffle?
Actually - looking at it again, it looks like it doesn't matter what card is on top. When he spreads the cards out at 0:23, he just looks to see what card is on top and keeps it on top with the criss cross cut.
100% agree!!
Hey asad ,do you know where mismag is ...is he ill there has been 9 months there r rumors he died do you know anything??? Reply
Is he using the marked deck?
Very dope
Theres so many ways to force the card but i created one in my mind when i watched the video... when the cards have been shuffled and you spread them on the table, you can bend half of the cards where you want and before that you have to spread the card face up to remember the last card thats gonna be their card and when you bend the half of the card WHILE YOU SPEAK TO THEM (misdirection) you will know exacly what are the card...becouse they will cut the deck exacly where you want...
It's odd that he counted 6 as odd
i didn't even think about the force, i assumed you were using the marking system
That would be another way to do it ;)
that trick was so easy just give them the top card that you allready knew :p
Nice force
It's not a force. He even let someone else shuffle before hand. I have the deck that he is using the cards he's using is The Mint Raspberry version which is a marked deck.
he just peek a top card at 0:23
^^ ctfu
Please give us tutorial
Hey asad...where can u buy uncut playing card sheets?
xULTIMATEx typically the manufacture has the option on their website. If you mean mint specifically then I dunno.
MAandS Thanks bro lol i was asking about the mint playing cards specifically but ll check on Dan and Daves Shop.. Thanks for letting me know!
it is all about presentation :D
omg genius
can you reveal the trick?
Why does he keep touching his shoulder
u r genius
I dont know how u did that but bravo👏👏
He forced the top card, which he was able to glimpse when he spread the cards at the very beginning. It's called the criss cross force as he mentions at the end.
This was fucking awesome trick..
what was the trick???
Why he keeps touching him haha
lol that was great!!!
It's always hard for me to stand the "cold reading" patterns in magic. Most of those guys probably think what happened there is real. Art should enlight people, not abuse their cages.
The very PURPOSE of this channel is to explain magic. If it isn't enlightement aimed to you i don't knwo what is . . .
That has nothing to do with my comment and the point I tried to make.
then i don't get what your point is : magic is not an art because it abuse people ? "reading" is an abuse of people ? Agitating the imagination of people's mind is abuiusing their cage ?
hello
but theres some truth to mentalism though, if you watch some of what he said is true like slowing down and saying yes too early etc
